  • Middlesbrough is a town situated in North Yorkshire, England. The town is one of the largest and busiest industrial hubs in the northeast of England. It has a population of approximately 140,000 people and covers an area of around 60 square kilometers. Middlesbrough is renowned for its steel industry, chemical industry, and its historic connections with the River Tees. The town is also recognized for its attractions, including the Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, Middlesbrough Town Hall, and the Transporter Bridge. Additionally, Middlesbrough is home to several popular parks, such as Stewart Park, Albert Park, and Fairy Dell. The town has excellent transportation links, and it is served by a mainline train station and several major roads, including the A66 and the A19.
The Transporter Bridge in Middlesbrough is one of the few remaining operational transporter bridges in the world. It was built in 1911 and its purpose was to transport workers from the town of Middlesbrough to the steelworks on the other side of the River Tees. The bridge is 259ft high and spans 851ft across the river, making it an impressive feat of engineering. The bridge's gondola can carry up to 200 passengers at a time, and it takes just 90 seconds to cross the river. Today, the bridge is no longer used for transportation but is a popular tourist attraction and is even used as a bungee jumping location.
