    Here in Minnesota you gotta be within 200 feet of your line, so watching all these tip ups spread out and driven to by a wheeler is just weird.

      Yes I was thinking the same. In Ontario Canada here you have to be within 60 meters (197 feet) from your holes. 2 holes per person max and have to have a clear line of site of your lines. But I see why they were calling them traps and not lines when you can have them all over the lake. Cool to see though.

      Too many people use tip ups or tip downs to try to keep other fishermen out of an area. I think it’s BS and when guys set up tip up or down lines if I feel they are just trying to block an area I’ll set up inside their lines.

      I was fishing on a lake in Wisconsin..in a shack guy came up with two kids asked me where were the fish biting not sure not having any luck I left early next day came back somebody had drilled Holes all around my shack one hole a foot from my door...I guess he thought I was in hot spot..ha what a fool

    My one buddy had a hole in the floor right in front of the toilet. Can't lose fishing time while tending to the business he used to say. Sometimes you just need the extra hole also

    Haha I think I was fishing out of your old holes in mid March. Didn’t have to drill many. So much water on the ice that when I got to my spot I could of taken a bath in my tote sled.

    Hey Joe, I love your videos and I have a question for you. I’m from central IN so we get a month of fishable ice at best. My question is what are the “scratchers” for on your snowmobile?

      for sure. They throw ice chips and snow from the glare ice onto the runners and into the heat exchanger to keep the runners lubed and the engine slightly cooler.

    I actually stayed in those ice shacks last season and lost a 5-6lbs trout off the point of peer.

      @@JoeHollandFishing so that just runs off GPS correct? I have the same unit but don’t have livescope just the ice fishing transducer. I think you can look at the area prior on ActiveCaptain can’t you ?

      @@billlavoie7272 if the unit has maps in it you can just bring up the map page. Some units take a map card. You do not need livescope for it at all.

      they throw ice shavings onto the track and into the heat exchanger for cooling and lubrication.

    I only have used 4-6 inch augers for electric drills, how many holes are you getting off one charge with the larger one? I power mine with a DeWalt Hammer, 40v. currently on a 6 inch Strikemaster bit. Never used up an entire battery on one trip, drill 50-80 holes many trips.

    What’s a scratcher on a snowmobile do?

      It scratches the glare surface of the ice throwing ice particles on the track for the sliders and the heat exchanger . It helps keep the track lubricated

    OMG I stayed at Sim's hideaways right next to Mt Kieno and had best view of the cliffs . can not find the cabins on line now. this was 30 years ago. do you know if the cabins are still there and the name it goes by now?

      @@JoeHollandFishing the cabins are not on the island. we drove in from Greenville on the east side of the island and looked at the cliffs from the cabin. we fished the back side of the island and worked our way to the Birches

    That is my monster lodge. I can tell you exactly where you got it. I had a local who was going to retrieve it for me. He called me one day and said it was gone.

      I wasn’t able to retrieve it, At the time it was too frozen and sunken into the newly made ice and snow. I would love to hear the story behind it .
