  • Welcome to my Spring 2020 Newsletter. This spring will go down as the time of the Corona Virus cancellations...I know I’m not in the minority when I say this is the most difficult season I have ever experienced. I’m at home in quarantine while trying to keep a positive outlook for the future, as more and more theatres are closing and cancelling performances. This spring was going to be full of announcements and there are still a few that have not been lost yet to the COVID-19 outbreak, and I hesitate to share them as it’s highly likely they will not take place. But here they are, anyway: LA TRAVIATA in Madrid, May 10th-24th, two concerts of CARMINA BURANA with the Philharmonie de Paris June 10th and 11th, and 7 performances of DIE ENTFÜHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL at Glyndebourne in July.
    Reflections
This time of forced confinement has brought out the best and the worst in us, and everything in between. Even though there has been time for reflection and renewal, there has also been time to dwell on the immediacy of fear and its resulting negative emotions. It has definitely been a struggle for me, and for all artists who are facing hardship and loss of work and income. We are trying to stay positive, relevant, involved, and not become overwhelmed with anxiety. It’s not easy to do! I’m doing my best to make time each day for work and for play, and to send as much positivity into the world as possible, in every way I know how. If music played a big role in our lives before the time of the pandemic, it certainly will play an even bigger role once we come out of this dark time, and flood the world once again with our voices. Please, reach out to your friends who are artists, who have been laid off, and who are doing their best to get by. Send a virtual hug and a kind word, and remember that we are all counting the days until we can get back on stage to send you all our love.

My body temperature literally rose when you said you're planning to record Mozart's concert arias...BUT I'M NOT SICK I SWEAR!
    ...
You. Are. Utterly. DIVINE. This is such a sincere message I could almost cry. But I just applied moisturizer so I shan't. Oh how I would love to see you in Seraglio some day...Oh now that Debussy is playing and I may cry afterall. Anyway I wish you all the best lovely creature. Btw you are serving Streisand sailor REALNESS in that top!

Stay home, and stay healthy. Hopefully when this is all over, I will see you on a United flight. I am a flight attendant with them (after being an opera singer, long story), but I will take such good CARE of you! One day, I promise!

Fingers crossed that whatever happens with upcoming engagements will be the right thing. We all want everything to get back to normal, but not if it is rushed. Best wishes 😊

I had only one soprano (namely, Gundula Janowitz) I cared about in the past. I am glad to find another *my* soprano. I guess I would be watching more Italian and French operas - just because my soprano is in it. You are different but your Mozart, Schubert, Strauss, etc. would be as likable and memorable.

Hey Lisette I know you worked with Javier Camarena and because of that, both of you are for me the best Operasingers in this Century I would like to ask if you know if you will work with him again sometimes? :)
