As a regular viewer who loves vintage tractors and the owner of a Tea20 for the last 22 years I am delighted that your doing these videos as well. I used 35s and 135s when a farm worker in the late 80s in Cornwall an valued the quality and simplicity of these machines. This can only compliment you're already excellent channel. 🚜
Hi there, found your channel through watching Daggerwin. Great videos and equally great idea with Vintage Thursdays! Have subscribed and will be following! Cheers from South Africa
Great video. I love the old vintage tractors and machinery. As you can see on my Channel thank you for posting. You definitely have a new subscriber. Greetings from Alberta, Canada
Hi Dan Great to see the older gear around and still able to show us how things were done with what we had to work with . And for us to remember how far the machinery has come
I do appreciate your efforts and knowledge Dan , regarding your discussion on the way forward I concur with your thoughts on your proposals love the modern gear and developments BUT I do appreciate stepping back in time and it jogging my memory as to the way things were done. Please keep up the good work I enjoy them and find myself as time goes on being more of a UA-cam relationship and less of a terrestrial tv man. We appear to have about 600+ channels of garbage nowadays regards Michael.
Thanks for your kind words Michael, I too only use TV for news and weather reports. There is nothing on there that entertains me, whereas UA-cam has stuff to entertain and educate when the need arises.
I'm liking the idea Dan 👍. I keep being drawn to the 178 so look forward to seeing that. I did a service in the 698 yesterday and posted it so please make a vid on yours as mine is, typically for me, useless 😂😣
I don’t know if any of your viewers are interested but when I worked has an agricultural fitter between 1971 - 1990 there was a man based in Newtown mid wales who had a small tractor business who I think sold universal tractors but he used to special in mf 35 4 cylinders he did modifications to the engine that made them start easier I only met him once and he came over has a very knowledgable but very eccentric person
I've just subscribe cause I like that kind of stuff and classic tractors too, plus I've got my very first tractor for the last 26 years, A Ferguson TED20 Reekie conversion which is still in use and fitted with various bits, especially my accidently found and fitted Ferguson epicyclic reduction gearbox when I was looking for a Howard, making it more usable despite it being rare.🙂
@@ianthomas3938 in Scotland they grow raspberries in narrow rows and so to cultivate between them, they need a narrow tractor, Ferguson at the time already had the TEC model but it was still a bit wide, so Reekie brothers of Arbroath Scotland ended up converting a few standard tractors e'g TE'S, TEA'S, TED'S and possibly TEF'S? they were cut and welded shorter ( cant remember what width it is because mine is set to 44" and no desire to tip over! ) some had a blue stripe on the bonnet while others hadn't. Only 500? Were converted due to Harry Ferguson's visit to wonder why a big order of shafts were needed, and so he took one look at tractor's and furiously ordered them to stop converting them, and so Ferguson introduced the TEL. Then reduction gearbox you've got the Howard which is used normally with a Howard rotavator. But the rarest reduction gearbox box is the The Ferguson epicyclic gearbox ( a big planetary gear which is held by abig brake band with its own pump) that made the tractor 4" longer and the advantage with this gearbox is that it offers a some what live pto but only in low range not like the Howard. Hope this helps you explain about Reekie conversion's and reduction gearboxes.
Like the too see the older equipment. If you know, let us know how the numbers correspond to models sold in the USA, please and Thank You, 😊 not familiar with Massey’s and Ferguson’s (farmed with IH and latter Whites)
Hello I have a tea20 but at the moment if runs very hot have you got any idea what it might be, runs for about 10-15 minutes ok the just get hotter and hotter, has water in it checked that of course, so if you got any info that would be great, Richard
Sounds like an air lock in the system or a faulty thermostat. The top of the radiator should be getting warm. If it stays cold while the engine is overheating the problem is in the thermostat area. If you haven't changed or added coolant since the problem started it's unlikely to be an air lock. Take the thermostat out and test in a pan of water while heating on the top of the kitchen cooker.
Hi all the great video for Massey Ferguson. One of my favourite tractor

Well done, I wish I could accidently find an epicyclic gearbox! I have a couple of Howard ones.
Good vid Dan, looking good. What do you mean with the epicyclic /reekie/ howard, thank you.

What you call old machines I call new yeah this sounds an excellent thing
Like the too see the older equipment. If you know, let us know how the numbers correspond to models sold in the USA, please and Thank You, 😊 not familiar with Massey’s and Ferguson’s (farmed with IH and latter Whites)
That 178 is valuable
Sounds good to me
Looking forward to this Dan
How about seeing some nice green and yellow John Deere tractors 😃
I don't have any green and yellow tractors 😆
CowfarmerDan well let’s turn all those mucky red ones into something useful like food cans and we will get you some nice green machines
I guess you're right, after all 90% of John Deeres ever made are still in the field.
The rest made it home 🤣
With that 178 can you run the PTO and 4WD at the same time or is there a transfer box from the PTO?
PTO and 4WD are independent of each other.
Amazing videos dan would deffently love to see more of the old girls do you have a T bar and pick up hitch for your 35 or te20s
Yes I have both.
