People still havent caught on to the genius of Jim Morrison, and he's been gone for over 50 years. The guy should be on a list, of the greatest poets of all time.
Hell yah! Me and my friends wore this album out when it came out in the 70's. I'm 65 and this is my music heritage. I learned to play "Light My Fire" on my trumpet in band in 5th grade!
The time manipulation with the breakdown is incredibly creative and tricky. The relationship between half time and double time is something every young drummer strives to master and this song is a master class in terms of this concept. Rush’s New World Man is another example, but the way Densmore gradually speeds up to transition from half time to double time is very cool and requires an overarching feel of time to pull off.
Hey guys, so here’s a little bit of rock trivia you might like, The incredible bass that drives this great song was played by part time session musician Jerry Scheff when he was not playing with Elvis’s TCB touring band, you’ve seen Jerry many times whenever you watched Elvis in Las Vegas performances.
Excellent reaction!!!! This is one of my personal favourite song by The Doors. I love Jim's voice in all of their songs but this one really shows his range. I love how he can sing with such clarity to down right dirty grit. The dirtiest the better in my opinion.
Mojo Risin'," which is an anagram of his name "Jim Morrison". Doors drummer John Densmore later explained the story of the line: After we recorded the song, he wrote "Mr. Mojo Rising" on a board and said, "Look at this." He moves the letters around and it was an anagram for his name.
Two classic movies, Bullet and Vanishing Point.. 390 Mustang , chasing a 440 charger though the street of San Francisco and Vanishing Point a 1970 440 Challenger.
..."Class of 76"...17.9 cents...1971...was a gas war between 2 stations across the street from each other...I believe this was the song that they walked into the recording studio late and recorded this song and after the 1st take walked out the door...

the line about murder madness is referring to the manson murders - the song is about the city of LA - LA woman is the city of LA - the song is contrasting the out side nice look of LA with its dark parts -
The white Dodge Challenger was from the original 1971 Barry Newman movie "Vanishing Point" Its now known as "The Kowalski Challenger" the characters name in the movie. The Mustang looks like a copy of the Steve McQueen Mustang in his big movie "Bullit" - From back when cars had HP and BALLS NOT BATTERIES
LMAO.....the lowest I remember was .26.9 a gal. for the good stuff. I was pumping gas beck in 1964 when I was in school. The Mustang with Steve McQueen was from Bullet, the white Challenger with Barry Newman driving was from Vanishing Point.
I remember gas at 25 cents a gallon. We would all put our change in and drive around all weekend. Of course it was the early 70's. Mr. Mojo Risin' anagram for Jim Morrison.
They invented Rock/Jazz Fusion! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Oh you wouldn’t want to go to L.A. now...just sayin! That was Steve McQuine driving the Shelby Cobra Mustang from the movie Bullet!
If you make it to LA and find yourself in Venice Beach and Santa Monica, you’d be hard pressed to not spot a Jim Morrison reference somewhere. Guy was King of LA.
You guys were talking about the price of gas, l use to fill my car up with $5.00 and it would last me for a whole week. The 70's were the best times of my life✌️💖
Jim Morrison and The Doors, were only a Band for about 4 years until Jim's untimely death, just as Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin of the same era, making them exclusive members of the infamous "27 Club." All three werre superstars of Rock in the late 60s, and all died at the peek of their careers at age 27. Kind of eerie. This song is not about a your regular Morrison song about a Beatiful girl, it's about the city of Los Angles itself, referred to in this song as a "woman. The Lyrics "I see your hair is burning" refer to the fires that start in the Hollywood hills every year in the Fall, and "Driving down your Freeway," is also a reference to the city of Los Angles.
The main guy is not Jim, he is a look-alike. Jim was gone before this was made. This is NOT the official video. It contains clips of Jim and the band from various times in their career. Several movies including the legendary Steve McQueen film "Bullitt" as well as scenes from "Vanishing Point" are used here (Probably without permission). Morrison died from a lethal dose of heroin. BUT, one of their greatest songs IMO. Great song to just speed on a lonely road to. "Mr. Mojo Risin" is an anagram of "Jim Morrison".
Great tune, great video. Never seen the video! Pretty LA feel to it. Billy Idol did a great up tempo cover of LA Woman that just rocks balls! Search out!
People dissing one of the greatest rock bands in history? Go find the Mott the Hoople's album "Braincapers" faux-critics: there's a song on it just for you. (I'm not talking to the Wolfhunterz -- just the people who would be dismissive of one of the most influencial bands -- ever!). By the way, when I was a kid, I remember seeing regular at a Chevron station at 23 cents a gallon!
Way back in the 1960s gasoline was $.30 a gallon in the gas station attendant will pump the gas for you wash your windows check your oil check the air in the tires that’s what my dad told me that’s how old was I in beautiful muscle cars and $.30 a gallon Man I guess those were the good old days🙏🙏💰💰💰💰💰🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 5:28
I grew up in that era in the San Francisco area and drove a 1970 Plymouth Cuda that looked like the white Dodge Challenger in the video. Gas was 25 cents a gallon.
The Doors were from L. A.--Southern California. They weren't one of the San Francisco peace/love hippie bands. Song is a metaphor for attractive decadence. "L. A. woman, you're my woman."
Travis Back in later 60's and early 70's, gas was very cheap compared to today's prices. Because countries have oil created OPEC to have better control of their supplies plus Oil Companies raised their prices as OPEC sets price on Barrel of Crude Oil. Plus, restrictions on Oil drilling in Continental USA while Alaska has oil exploration. We need to drill with some cautions.
Refineries cost money to run and Oil Companies shut down them for maintenance to cause gas prices to high up. If prices for barrel of oil goes up so does gas prices example one year price went $5 to $6 a gallon over higher in certain states making Big Oil major profits.
Please, do "Hungry Wolf" from the Band X. Great female/male punk duo Producer by Ray Manzarek Keyboards of the Doors. Anything from X. Look forward to yous guyz'z'z'z reaction
The two major anti-peace/love bands of the time were the Doors on the West Coast, and the Velvet Underground in New York. Much darker than flower power.
After Morrison died in France he was buried in a local cemetery, which quickly became a place to hang out and party and celebrate his music. After a couple decades it started to get out of hand. The locals decided to move his remains to a more private location. Making Jim Morrison the only rock god to get kicked out of somewhere for partying too hard, 20 years after his death.

What do you get when you combine a classically trained keyboard player, a jazz drummer, a flamenco guitar player and a poet? The Doors.
Yes ❤
People still havent caught on to the genius of Jim Morrison, and he's been gone for over 50 years. The guy should be on a list, of the greatest poets of all time.
One of the great driving songs. RIP Jim.
Totally. Top down midnight Friday evening 120 mph North out of LA on the 99 up out of LA on the grapevine through Santa Clarita ... perfect tune
After 70 years of listening to everybody l always come back to The Doors 😊. Thanks 🙏
A masterpiece that no other classic rock band can rival in its hedonistic atmosphere of sound.
Hell yah! Me and my friends wore this album out when it came out in the 70's. I'm 65 and this is my music heritage. I learned to play "Light My Fire" on my trumpet in band in 5th grade!
That gets your foot tappin even if you're dead. The Doors were totally original and created their own genre and are the only ones in it.
Best band of the sixties, songs of my angsty teens!

I was a teen hair metal fan, but love all rock, the Doors is one of my favorite bands.
They were inter-mixing Steve McQueen's movie "Bullitt" in with one of Jim Morrison's own art films.
Yep and there were bits of vanishing point also.
Excellent reaction!!!! This is one of my personal favourite song by The Doors. I love Jim's voice in all of their songs but this one really shows his range. I love how he can sing with such clarity to down right dirty grit. The dirtiest the better in my opinion.
Excellent reaction? All they can talk about is the car?
I see your hair is burning ( Hollywood hills fires) he put so many double meanings into these songs LA woman is a masterpiece, Mr moJo risin.
Mr mojo risin is an anagram of Jim Morrison. Go figure!
And the Mr moJo risin verse is an orgasm verse.
Doors didn't have a bass player. They hired Sheff (ex Elvis Presley bass player) to fill the role for this song>
@@jjohnparker1592 I know, as I said it’s one of many double meanings, hence why I put a capital J for Jim and capital M for Morrison in the post.
They were all great musicians, but Ray Manzarek on the keys was really quite the genius

Densmore is crushing on the drums

"Let's change the mood from glad to sadness " , brilliant line.
murder madness refers to manson murders that changed the partying rich hollywood people from glad to sadness
I would have loved to have seen the Doors? But I was 12 in 1971 when they broke up!😢
Driving my right foot istantly sinks on this masterpiece
The black mustang was from the movie 'Bullet' starring Steve McQueen, who you see driving.
Dark green, but who's quibling!

Gas price per gallon in 1971 was 36 cents a gallon adjusted to $2.72 a gallon.
Back them, the price of gas was under $0.30 per gallon. I remember in the mid 70's, the price went up to $0.48+ per gal. I was so pissed off.

Some of the video with the cars is Steve McQueen in the famous car chasing scene in San Francisco from the movie Bullit.
The muscle-car era, with engines with huge displacements. Some were blown.
