i always loved that the "Well well look who's inside again" can also be heard as "Weh weh, look who's inside again" like he's admonishing himself for not going outside more, and making fun of himself for making such a big deal of staying inside, like he can't make up his mind on whether to hate where he is or let himself realize it's not that big a deal, so he does neither, and does nothing about either feeling
This sounded pretty calming to me, not gunna lie.
Different, but still pretty similar.
... In fact it might actually be easier to enjoy than the original song, as the original tone is quite melancholy whilst this is so much more upbeat.

How can you make that sinister? I want to learn these makings
I changed the key from D major to B minor (the relative minor key of D). I had to get creative with the chord changes to reharmonize the melody well, it took quite a while! But it was fun. I also used a bit of chromaticism (bass line moving often in half-steps). My tip would be, if you want to make a major song minor, put the song in the relative minor key, instead of the parallel minor key (example: Put a D major song in B minor, instead of putting a D major song in D minor). Otherwise, you'd have to change the melody around more so it'd fit in the parallel minor key. Whereas if you put it in the relative minor key, the melody can pretty much stay the same. Once you sort out the chords you can have a formerly upbeat song sounding rather sinister. I hope I explained that in a way that kind of makes sense. If you like this kind of stuff you should look up Oleg Berg, he posts a lot of major songs in minor keys. They are very entertaining
