I'm glad that land yacht went to someone who appreciates its original condition. This was the definition of a personal luxury vehicle in 1970. Still a very luxurious ride.

Hi, Lou! Not only is this is a Continental beauty, but as Humberto has demonstrated it's also quite the advanced technological marvel--the ventilation system, the cabin temperature sensor, the Sure-Track brakes, the fiber optics, etc! And that interior looks so sumptuous you must feel like you're sitting on a cloud even if you're not riding!
Muchas gracias to you, Humberto, and his wife for taking all of us along for the ride! Who knew a Lazy Susan could be this much fun!

@S King The '70 and '71 (in that order) are my favorite years of the Mark III. Not only have I always liked the exterior changes made to the '70 (examples: the hidden windshield wipers and the outside door mirror housing, honestly, I don't even mind the wheel covers used both years), my #1 favorite change made to the interior was replacing the fake wood (oakwood/rosewood, depending on trim color) of the '69 with genuine walnut veneer (also, for '70, that included adding the rectangular shaped inserts for the door trim and rear quarter trim panels).

    • @thomasshort1784

@@RustyCar In the first season, he had a '71 Mark III and these were the actual colors: Light Gray Metallic (order code=L), Black Cavalry Twill grain vinyl roof (order code=1) and Dark Red leather (order code=4D; it also had the Hi-Back Twin Comfort Lounge Seats and THAT'S how I know it was a '71), a $183.70 option (in 1971 dollars).

OMG! What a beautiful, luxury coupe Mark III. Glad to see & hear it’s at least 95% original/unrestored. I love a slight patina to original cars. I didn’t know that real wood was used on these. As was most late 1960’s cars on up, wood was usually a decal of sorts. Thanks Lou & Humberto for a luxury Tuesday ride!

@@thomasshort1784 I bought both of my Marks used, the '71 in 1981, the '70 a couple of years later. When I was shopping around (newspaper ads) for my '71 I looked at one that the owner said was champagne in color. It was a nice color, although I don't know if it was a stock Lincoln color. The other thing about the car I liked was that it had a power moon roof, which the owner told me was dealer installed. I passed on the car (can't recall the reason now) and bought my '71 Mark III from a Lincoln dealer used car lot as it had the best overall condition of all the Marks I had been looking at.

@Torqueflite440 I was born in 1982 but, had I been alive to buy a 1970 Mark III brand new, I would've special ordered it! If I had ordered one, my choice would've been: Bronze Stardust Metallic (a dark coppery brown; order code=89) w/ Ivory pinstripe (order code=5), Dark Brown vinyl roof (order code=7; starting with the 1970, vinyl roofs became standard on Mark IIIs) and either Light Gold (actually a warm champagne beige color; order code=2Y) or Dark Brown (order code=2Z) leather upholstery. High-metallic (reportedly using gold particles) glamour paints (called 'Stardust' and later 'Moondust' for the Lincoln Continental/Continental Mark III and 'Fire' for the Ford Thunderbird) were new for 1970 and were available in 4 colors: Olive Metallic (order code=O9 or 09, depending on publication source), Green Metallic (order code=I9 or 19, again, depending on source), Red (Lincoln) or Burgundy (Thunderbird) Metallic (order code=59; same color, despite name variations) and the aforementioned Bronze Metallic (order code=89).

I totally agree with you, Lou. The Lincoln Continental Mark III 1970 is really outstanding and the front grill of that car really looks futuristic as well. In my recollection, i do remember seeing this same car model, in the movie entitled: The French Connection, with Gene Hackman, back in 1971. In fact, if you take the front part of this car and you compare it with any other more recent Lincoln Continental Town Car models, from the late 1980s, you’ll notice that they share the same characteristic features. A real dream car! Thank you, Lou. God bless you. Johnny, Montréal, Canada 👍❤️😁

Lou got to be a kid again, by riding in the back seat. :O That is a really neat survivor. The ride and interior looked so nice and comfortable, that it could be the ugliest car ever produced and people would still love it. The good news that it isn't ugly.

Those were the best 460s you could get with the highest output and torque. The leather was also the best you could get, though all top end GMs and Chryslers shared the same manufacturer. Just like in the 60s, Chrysler/Imperial was trying to match the styling of the Mark series, and Lincolns in general, as evident with the 67-68 Imperials, and 74-75 Imperial, which would become the 76-78 Ny Brougham. But this car came fully loaded with very few options. Result? An incredibly expensive car and relatively few were made. Nice to see a survivor/driver.

Another great video Lou my grandma had a 1979 model when I was a kid. It was dark blue. My grandmother and my mother and me used to go spend the week of Thanksgiving every year with my aunt and uncle that lived about 5 hours away. I took alot of naps in the backseat of that car as a kid, those seats were really comfortable. My grandma daily drove it for 19 years. In the winter of 98 the roads were icy and a car didn't get stopped in time and hit her in the passenger side door and then grandpa traded it 8n for her a new Buick.

I'm a muscle car fan and all for the most part but I've always loved the Mark IIIs', ever since I saw it in the movie, The French Connection, and Popeye Doyle was tearing it up looking for the drug-stash hehe

This car is what happened when Lee Iacocca told Lincoln engineers he wanted a high performance Lincoln coupe that looked like a Thunderbird. This was Lee's idea and it was brilliant.
It might be a "lazy Suzan" as he said but if you lay into the gas it will GO!
At 4:55 - when you say "you can see your speed"...... that's actually the cruise control switch.
And at 5:13 - that sensor screen is on every single car with automatic climate control since it was invented. The guy was kind of long winded in his explanation - it's the thermostat, just like your house HVAC has one where you set your furnace or air conditioner. To this day. If your car has automatic climate control, you have a thermostat sensor in the dash behind little slits or a vent screen. Even a 2022 Kia will have that somewhere in the dash if you look.

@Fred Kelbert The colors of this Mark III are: Red Stardust Metallic (order code=59; upon seeing this video, I immediately suspected it was), a $131.20 option, Black custom pinstripe (order code=1), Black vinyl roof (order code=1; vinyl roof was standard on the Mark III starting with the '70) and Dark Red leather (order code=2D), a $164.00 option. If you pay close attention, at 4:00, on the sticker (the same one with the manufacturer's date) you'll see the paint and interior trim codes, which indicate this.

Bee-U-Tee-Full. So what's to fix? I wanted to see the where oh where are the front head lights turn on. Another beautiful thing is the back of the front seats, their design and padding. The pointed front end ^ is nice too. So the lining over the driver's side is in need of a fix. If it was mine? I'd clean it up and thank God no one had their initials painted on the driver's door. Also a masterpiece of X design. Let me say the back seat wasn't that roomy. And in our group The Continental won over The Eldorado.
However! In that year The Eldorado had that slick, where is it, trunk. His wife is lucky: Crack open the DP and hit the cruise control. Thanks Lou

Most of those I've seen were either jet black or silver. That red on red combination is the most attractive I've ever seen on one of those. Too bad, though, that FMC had to manufacture their luxury cars way overweight. They have had plenty of time to manufacture those M.E.L. blocks thin-cast, to start with, as well as to scale down other excesses. I would guess, they could have saved 1.000 pounds on each one of those, if they have had dedicated themselves towards it. Then again, since they had their own foundry in Dearborn Michigan, a survivalist mentality would have been obsolete to them

Please, please keep this original! Don’t try to improve on the original beauty of the vehicle. If you’re building a car from a rusted out hulk of steel then that is great. But if a car is in this condition it is a crime to mess with it. A little rust around the wheels or that sort of thing then fix the issue and flash the paint in, keep it as original as possible. Cheers🍻🥂🇺🇸👍 edit: took my driving test in a 69 galaxie 500 with one of those rim horns, it didn’t work my father wouldn’t fix it figured it would be costly. On the test we passed some high school kids, the instructor at the end says the only problem I saw was when you passed those kids you should have tapped your horn to warn them you were there, I said I can’t, the horn is broken, showed him how it was supposed to work. He says ok, don’t worry you passed.
