They even had live music playing in the background. I seen interviews of Marty Odonnel talking about working on this trailer. He said that it was pretty challenging trying to keep track along with the gameplay for this live trailer which in all honesty. Is pretty damn look.
The last 30 seconds of that with the violin's screaming and our hero surrounded by the enemy, Hollywood should bottle that and sell it as an energy drink because that is the definition of EPIC!
E3 2018 is on right now and just found this video. but damn, nothing beats this. You can practically smell the passion and love oozing from the gameplay and audience is a captivated by it like magic. and dont get me started with the music. damn. bless you for uploading this rare gem!

Too bad they didn't include this demo as a little bonus for us to see what halo 2 could have looked like 13 years ago if we had just a little bit more hardware power for the original xbox. Personally, I feel Microsoft should have gave bungie more time and launch halo 2 on the 360. That would have been enough to run the halo 2 that bungie envisioned, and then some.
I've seen this video time ad time again and it gets me every time. THIS was an amazing demo, and HALO 2 was a TRUE successor to Halo 1. This folks is one of the great moments in gaming.

I don't think laptops came with built-in wireless capability at the time, so we had to plug in a Belkin wireless adapter card to connect to the internet. I went onto some gaming website, maybe IGN or something else where they uploaded the latest videos; it was probably slightly after E3 2003 happened. I scrolled down to the H section, found Halo 2 by surprise after maybe months of checking, and watched this trailer all the way through. I had the same reactions that the audience did in this, but as an 8 year old kid - the mounted turret, dual wielding, ghost boarding, brutes. I was stoked beyond belief. I also remember seeing another game in the H section of that website. It had to be right above Halo 2's video listing - a little game called Half-Life 2. This game was also shown at E3 2003, but I didn't care about it; mostly because I had no idea what it was and how big its release was too. I grew up with Halo, not Half Life. It wasn't until 7 years later that I would actually play Half-Life 2 and get blown away by it as well.
I truly wish this had become the true Halo 2. THe halo 2 we got was nothing compared to how amazing, how utterly heartpumingly awesome this demo was. And even now, THIS version of the game gets me pumped just watching it.
You can tell those SMGs have infinite ammo (no reloads) lol. God mode too of course. It's pretty common for huge demos like this to run "safeguards" like that though, even today.
i love the crowd reaction's to certain part's. since it really shows us how much halo 2 revolutionised game's back then. but what i don't get is why one, they didn't keep the battle rifle as single shot because for me it work's better, and two why only in this demo is the only other time we ever see the covenant vehicle the shadow.
To those people wondering why they didn't do this; the game was still early days when they showed this off. It was a standalone demo, something they put together to appease the fans for E3. They pushed the bar so high that they couldn't even achieve it again in the full game There's a fantastic Halo 2 'making of', one of the best making of docs I've ever seen (video games or otherwise) may I add, where they explain it all. They were as annoyed as you and me. But, at least we got to see it!
Don't get your hopes up 343 will never be able to do what bungie did in 2003 I think for the last halo in the series bungie should come and trade halo for destiny at least they can stop making a good game look bad I wish bungie would have made halo's 4 and 5

@deamon12345678 They didnt keep it because the XBox engine couldn't handle it. They had to "go through hell just to make it work for nine minutes" They could probably remake it easily now, but it's really not in anyone's plans atm.
@LegoStudios97 what i meant by plenty of room for expansion was that they COULD have made a massive game as Halo 1 was, but they were bought by microsoft not long before, or perhaps during, the process of creating halo 2(i forget when it actually took place) and microsoft pushed them to finish earlier. Thats why they left microsoft not long after halo 2, because they didnt like what microsoft was doing with them.
@Razorlvirus problem is, and this could be wrong but its my understanding, was that it was planned to be the end of chiefs saga, sorta. They planned to have the whole halo thing resolved after two, with a pretty awesome ending, but then halo was sped up so they made two then planned up three. There were going to be tons of other species introduced too. but yeah, i kinda like what happened as is. Reach is amazing, and without the crap of Halo 2 we wouldnt have it.

To be fair, Bungie only had 5 months to make a working demo, and if they strayed too far from the set path, the game would crash.
