I'm so happy they did this so I can vent about oboe. Like my good lord it's such a hard instrument. We don't get to adjust our instruments to sound in tune. It all depends on the reed and mouth position. It also depends on the oboe because some of them are terrible. Let alone, a lot of oboes I've seen in my school are missing the left f key and low B-flat key. Its hard to find a decent oboe for a good price. Now, let's move on to know fingerings. They're probably the worst along with the bassoon. Like you have to switch to the left e-flat before you play d-flat and gosh it's just awful. Like there are *three* different ways to play f natural, *three.* Moving on back to the reed. It loves to close up on you and then all of a sudden, you go from sounding in tune to flat as hell. It's so freaking annoying. Then eventually it closes up even more and you can't play anymore. (Eddy struggled with that.) Plus I swear if you turn around for one second your reed will be cracked. No one will be near it and it'll just *crack* so you have to get a new reed. Oml I hate getting a new reed with a burning passion. You have to break it in and that can take anywhere from a day to a month. Lastly, you literally sometimes won't be able to *breathe* when you play. Like once you get into arpeggios you just *die.* Welp, there was your three minute lesson on oboe and if you actually read that congratulations. I'm sorry about the long rant though. 😂😂
Demi Muse - Probably! One of my friends play the B Flat Clarinet and s/he has sooo many struggles with it. The main one is when you've been playing for a while and you press down on the register key in the back you can feel the condensation and s/he hates it. xD (Is it called a register key? I forgot.)
Sailor Cottoned-Lavender Lol. Yes. It’s called a register key because, unlike most instruments, it doesn’t change the octave of the pitch. It changes the register of the pitch, which is a 12(an octave and a 3rd). So fingering a low C (C4), becomes a high mid G (G5) when you press the key. That said, there tends to be a build up of spit around there. It’s not uncommon so see a player flip the clarinet around and blow into the thumb hole to get some of that out. xD
One my friend who played the oboe auditioned for an orchestra and only found out that her oboe was missing a key after she did her audition (she used a school oboe)

Eddy: *starting to die*
Pro: bro what the hell are you trying to do?
The professional's expressions kill me...he seems concerned, bewildered/confused, and amused throughout Eddy's attempts
The way he's nodding his head saids so much omg
Eddy sounded better than I would probably sound. I’d sound like a dying walrus tbh
That moment when Eddy sounds more like the duck than the professional.
He made an oboe.... sound like a saxophone.
I love the professional's face while Eddy plays. Its like a teacher trying to be supportive and says "You don't play that bad."
WOW I commented in their flute version that they should do a clarinet one bc I'm a former clarinet player and at first glance I thought this was a clarinet and I got so excited but now I'm just disappointed although I really enjoyed the professional playing, I like the sound of an oboe
Heeeey where is my Piano begginer vs Piano Profesional?????
Unfortunately, they both play piano...
Michelle Dai well the pro could do like, mazeppa, and they wouldn't be able to do it
Sigh ikr I'd like that so much
or some Rachmaninoff
ieuan davies ah Rachmaninoff. every pianist remembers the horror of even trying for fun
I played the oboe for seven years (6th-12th) and oh boy does this video put into perspective how difficult it is to play. I think I've taken for granted how hard the oboe is, since I grew used to playing the instrument pretty quickly. But yeah, beginning oboe players are bound to sound like dying birds, and that's a fact. I did enjoy the instrument more once my playing blossomed from ugly duckling to beautiful swan tho.
tfw you press the buttons but no sound comes out, the struggle is real
I love how the professional oboist is not even hiding the fact that he’s entertained 😂
Lmao Eddy's face when the pro played the opening of Mozart's Oboe concerto and when he tried the Kalliwoda Oboe concerto had me so weak😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 #respecttotheoboes
RESPECT US :)
I laughed so hard oml
Please do professional vs beginner pianist
Eli Trese the pro could do super difficult pieces
ChocolateNinja yeaah 😆
Some difficult Rachmaninoff will make anyone look like a beginner...
Your prayers have been answered.
Professional vs Beginner trumpeter(?) is that what they’re called idk
Yes pls
His delicate lips can't handle the masterpiece of trumpet
Yes please! I'd love to see this as I've tried to teach others and they quickly learn that the trumpet is not as easy as it looks.
I'm waiting for it
no pls don't do it
Oboes don‘t sound like ducks!
1st song: The Duck
"beginner" was me 5 years ago XD Yeup, at some point we all sounded like a dying duck.
As the Clari Boys would say, “You need more air”
Taylor Howard I love the clari boys!
As Joaquin would scream in class, "MORE AIR"
*plays an a, the a getting lower and lower*
"baroque tuning.."
Man, Waldo there sounds like me in my high school band class. Good times. Not for anyone else, but for me, certainly.
I like how Huw is trying so hard not to laugh 😂
Holy shit, the professional played the entire Tchaik 4 excerpt in one breath. What an absolute tank.
Double reeds woo!
Heck yeah!
Eddy reminded me of when I thought I wanted to play oboe, clarinet is good enough
Ling Ling is a professional at any instrument he picks up.
Goddamn, I was really interested to start. But when I see this guy on the left struggling, I think I'm gonna rethink it.
Eddy would make an excellent interpreter of contemporary music; look at all his extended techniques.
