For my second build of this rocket, I am incorporating some lessons learned and some small changes to try and improve the long term durability of this great flying machine!
I have seen a hand full of people papering their fins to add extra strength. I did not do that for this build however I wish that I had. The results seem to speak for themselves. I plan to do that for future builds. The Arizona desert floor is very unforgiving. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Looks great. Did the 2 coats of wood sealer take care of all the wood grain? How many coats of primer did you use before painting the red and black? Once again, great video.
Much appreciated. I did one heavy coat of a plain white primer, sanded down high spots, then did the finish colors. I'm very pleased with the finish on the fins. there are a couple spots where you can see the grain a little bit but it turned out to be one of the best set of fins I have had thus far on a first paint job. Ill be flying it this weekend and will try to get some close ups on the fins out in the sunlight so you can judge it better.
Did you consider papering the fins with fast CA for even more strengthening? Great video BTW
