Will 28 year old rocket motors work?
Back in 2017 I recorded a video of me testing some solid rocket motors from the late 1980's not knowing if they would work. What can I say, the results were a complete catastrophe but sometimes its fun to see just what will happen.

Resurrecting a classic RC Combat Gremlin

This Bird belonged to my grandfather. After a lengthy restoration we took it out to a club fun fly. It had not flown in nearly 20 years. Although it met its demise during a club combat competition it flew wonderful. #Nitro Forever!!

Gnarly end to a model airplane! I wish I could have followed it better on the way down but the impact i'm sure makes up for it.
Amateur high power rocket with onboard video! Simple components, homegrown engineering!

I resurrected this video from years ago. Some home grown rocket science from coastal Georgia. A home made high power rocket built from UPS store mailing tubes, 3D printed nose cone, and a parachute that was constructed from an old golf umbrella. Amazing things can be done with every day materials. Onboard video from GoPro Hero4. Enjoy!!
Ride on Sentimental Journey B-17G

Got to go for a ride on Sentimental Journey B-17G out of Mesa Arizona! It should go without saying that the video and audio do not come close to experiencing this in person. Seeing the north valley, superstition mountains, Weavers Needle, and Canyon Lake through the windows of a WWII bomber was an amazing experience. Enjoy
Estes Goblin Review & Build - Part 2

For my second build of this rocket, I am incorporating some lessons learned and some small changes to try and improve the long term durability of this great flying machine!
Estes Goblin Review & Build - Part 1

Want a rocket that brings big performance in a small package? Look no further than the Estes Goblin. At the time of this video publishing, I have flown this rocket about 50 times. I like it so much that I am building another one. Join me for some launch videos, new rocket build, and some lessons learned.
Man, I’d like to know what happened. Looked like some really weird stuff.
wonder what that rattling sound was when you spooled up!! ? doesn't sound right
Too much control surface movement, improper take off roll, too fast and he started right in front of himself, so there is no taking off at about the point which you are standing.
I am totally lost on what that sound is.
Ugly as hell, before and after
It looked like there was a gyro in there, with wrong orientation?
What engine is that
It was a mini A3. I wouldn't recommend using a half A in this rocket. Just not quite enough.
Thanks
D engine on a tiny rocket? 1 flight only.😕
It is a moon shot for sure. But, I have many flights on both of my Goblins. Great flyer
@@rubberchickenaeronautics3643 nice one. I have the maxi mosquito and it flies very mellow on an e rated engine. Big find make it stable and 60s sci fi.🤠👍
Well done
Keep building kid it only gets better🎉🎉🎉
I probably built 50 of those things. The OS40FP was a perfect engine for those little planes. I think I still have plenty of wings in the attic. They were a blast.
I couldn't agree more! Every gremlin I have had has had a 40 on it. Makes for a great sport flyer and even better for club combat. I am planning to cut wing cores for future builds. I am flying currently my 5th gremlin.
What causes this?
Likely was the age of the motor. But I have also seen where a pack is dropped and the motors get damaged. Fortunately its not a common occurrence.
Did you consider papering the fins with fast CA for even more strengthening? Great video BTW
I have seen a hand full of people papering their fins to add extra strength. I did not do that for this build however I wish that I had. The results seem to speak for themselves. I plan to do that for future builds. The Arizona desert floor is very unforgiving. Glad you enjoyed the video!
This is a perfect example of how a simulator pays for itself in less than 30 seconds.
Crash a million dollars worth of airplanes on it, for only $199
I enjoyed every minute of this and any others that will eventually learn how to hover an airplane just like the real ones hover...NOT.
@0:45 Someone said "bye plane😂" Sorry it crash but that plane requires an experience pilot.
Lol does this person know how to fly rc planes ever video end with a crash
Well this one was totally my fault. I got disoriented flying combat and dumb thumbed it in. Happens to the best of us. The other crash videos I was just lucky to be in the right place at the right time with a camera 😉
Start with a simulator, we all did.
That’s cheating…
@@DavidRitchie-tr2rn Not if you don't have the money to repair and buy new planes...
Balance is more than just a concept. Try it... You'll like it.
Pay attention instead of talking to the bystanders
😂no gyro 😂no autopilot 😂no fly'n today 😂😂😂😂😂
LANDING..!
Y did you not power down
Power either saves the plane or makes it go in so hard you don't have to worry about fixing it.
Hey This is cool!!!
Ouch!!
If you don't ask for help you're going to spend more money then you should, don't let your ego get the best of your bank account!!.. .
promo sm
It's also funny when people ask which way the wind is blowing before take off. Always been puzzled by that one. Just hold your hand out in front of you and turn in A circle and whatever way you fell the wind blowing on your hand, it will be coming from that direction, lol.
loss of orientation
I wouldn’t have taken off something was rubbing against something. If things don’t sound right fix the problem first before flying.
Why would you take off with a plane that sounded like that??! Also looked to be tail heavy. Recipe for disaster.
Something didn't sound right on take-off - like the spinner was hitting the cowl. And then the loss of control. I'm guessing builder errors.
😰
That stings
Looks great. Did the 2 coats of wood sealer take care of all the wood grain? How many coats of primer did you use before painting the red and black? Once again, great video.
Much appreciated. I did one heavy coat of a plain white primer, sanded down high spots, then did the finish colors. I'm very pleased with the finish on the fins. there are a couple spots where you can see the grain a little bit but it turned out to be one of the best set of fins I have had thus far on a first paint job. Ill be flying it this weekend and will try to get some close ups on the fins out in the sunlight so you can judge it better.
