    In 2025. You are going to have two situations; I think there will be buyers who have the money and will buy because of the way they see it. It is best to spend it before being robbed of it by this government or in inheritance tax. The other buyers who need to borrow to buy, like me, will think long and hard before buying. The result of this will be lower sales and price reductions from the manufacturers to gain sales.

    The biggest bust is on it's way from 2030 on or sooner, when no more ice vehicles are sold because of the ZEV mandate. The only ice motorhomes will be the then dwindling supply of second hand units. As for caravans. The infrastructure for charging that is there, for an electric traction vehicle, is not designed to charge up whilst hitched. The electric range is absolutely abysmal and much worse whilst towing and rapid charger electricity prices 1/3 rd more at least than diesel. The towing weight for an electric vehicle is nowhere near a diesel unit, making family sized caravans unable to be towed. People just won't be able to afford to go in liesure vehicle any more, they will be financially forced off the road with punitive emmissions taxes as well.
    This is Millibands future.

    Touring and or camp/glamping in the uk isn’t the joy it used to be anymore with soaring site cost and over crowding fighting for hook ups etc you can travel to more exotic destinations in the world an still save a overall cost per annum.

      Our favourite sites have tripled prices in the past 3 years. We don’t caravan in the busy periods either.

      Peanuts compared to the cost of buying a caravan or motorhome, they are both killing it.

    As an example. I have just purchased a 2025 Swift Carrera 132 panel van. Between Swift and the Dealership, they have knocked-off, well over £5000+ from listed price (Nearly £10,000, other than a few £100’s). Why, because this holiday genre, within its lower and middle bracket vehicles is still continuing to fall, as the rule of supply and demand is being fully evidenced across the industry. It is extremely difficult to have empathy for the industry, though I always feel for those losing employment. Current evidence suggests more shocks are to come in 2025 with the industry losing more Dealerships, as they come to their tax bill payments by April.

    You failed to mention the Coachman owner lost a hell of a lot more than the £9k as that was your retail price .
    I am a person whom has switched to using motorhomes now ( ex caravan ) and sold mine two years ago and mot buying another yet as I believe prices will still fall due to the crazy stock levels in dealers . Also as more people get out of motorhoming and caravaning due to site fees increase etc. stock levels will increase. Dealers will offer realy low price and say they do not realy want it so take it or leave it. Just my opinion but lets just see.

    We have always accepted that you are going to loose plenty on a new van, but owners really must think how much all those weekends and holidays would have cost over the typical ownership period. if staying in a average chain hotel for a night, it costs a fortune, with nothing to sell when your done.

    let’s not forget the push for EVs i believe alot haven’t the permission to tow, and i believe the range drastically drops, so when it comes to charging it means drop caravan off charge car hitch up again

    • @garydavis1528
      @garydavis1528 13 годин тому

      They aren’t interested in making EV’s tow, they weren’t with combustion but it was naturally very good at it which EV’s are not.

    Just to add the car market 2030 all electric vehicles with extortionate prices and capable cars to tow a 1600kgs caravan without having to charge up during your journey Several times are non existent to the ordinary man 😡

    To be fair there has been several well known and highly regarded dealers shut due to retirement such as lady bailey but i think the smaller ones will fair better than the bigger ones. It was a few years ago when i worked at Autotrail that there was a rumour regarding brownhills future, because they used to take 30% of AT production. Glossop and the like hold too much stock and i see one of these going, their credit lines must be colossal.

    Touring caravan prices remain unreasonably high, with dealers and manufacturers driving up costs during Covid. Let’s do the maths: a decent family tourer without water ingress will set you back around £18k-before factoring in gas bottles, servicing, and tyres. That £18k is just for the van.
    Now, consider this: a family could enjoy 36 holidays at a Parkdean site (3-5 days each) for the same money, at an average cost of £500 per break.
    Dealers might not like it, but caravan prices need to drop by at least 20% to make this lifestyle affordable for the average UK family. Just my opinion-don’t shoot me for it 😅

      I bought a nearly new caravan in 2021 (as Covid restrictions were being lifted)
      I part exchanged it two years later with FSH and still 'glossy' after many holidays. I actually lost very little £. In fact it's being retailed for the same price I paid in 2021...

  • @dazzas3

    Sorry, but you can't use recommended retail price as a guide, because a huge amount of caravans are heavily discounted at point of sale. So this makes RRP a joke. I will also mirror other viewers comments that build quality from about 2015 on, is absolutely shocking. Also towing limits on v5c are always lower than vehicle manufacturers recommend max tow limit. So who is correct... v5c or vehicle manufacturer?

    A bit hard to read between the lines there, but we're you saying you think the prices are still dropping relatively speaking or have they bottomed out now?

  • @musicmancjp
    @musicmancjp 2 дні тому +2

    Prices haven’t crashed, they were to high to start with plus the fact that dealers were and are not paying enough for part ex hence the fact people sticking with what they have or cutting loses and coming away from caravans. On top of all that are spiralling prices for pitch’s etc.

    2025 April will see the uk is going into recession so I agree prices have stabilised the only problem now is the government.
    No one will have any spare cash to have luxury items.
    Business is already suffering and people are being laid off work.
    The crash is coming.

      Plus there is the taxation targeting of any new car that is realistically suitable to tow a caravan. I think this will have a devastating impact on the caravan industry.

    • @tjeffpowellful
      @tjeffpowellful 2 дні тому +1

      The market has behaved as predicted. Restrictions on foreign travel due to covid increased demand for caravans so manufacturers and dealers were able to increase prices. Now people are finding foreign holidays are cheaper with better weather and are selling caravans causing a glut and depressing prices. Hopefully that has worked through the system and normality has returned. Site fees followed suit and I'm now seeing many sites offering discounts and special deals.

    • @webpigjohn4959
      @webpigjohn4959 2 дні тому

      @tjeffpowellful .. problem with site fees energy prices have just gone up and will go up again in April so cheap site fees really are a thing of the past.

  • @garyfoster4704
    @garyfoster4704 2 дні тому +3

    I think the market is still in freefall ... With the price of new caravans being excessively high and part exchanges poor the market will stagnate. Add to that higher pitch fees, insurance, fuel costs & matching tow cars disappearing it isn't looking good. Throw in the dire quality of new caravans and it isn't worth the hassle, cost and stress. I'm waiting for one of the big manufacturers to go bust making their warranties none existent. It's bad enough when your dealer goes bust to find another dealer to take on your warranty repairs and there are that many issues again due to the poor quality. Add into this the dire wet summers that are now on the cards with climate change and it's all over. RIP the caravan, motorhome lifestyle 🙏

    As usual housing market will be the best economic indicator, think meanwhile manufacturers are going to cut back on production of units over the next 2 years.
    As a nation that opted to go it alone, its root cause problem is, we are now are at the mercy of the likes of Musk, and energy companies etc, hence wealth disparities is at an all time record high.
    The truth being, we are all a lot poorer, and so any called luxury items, are currently slipping away from the average Joe.
    Short term future is second hand items, just look at the high street for the proof.

    Dont get your reasoning on PX prices, i think it was about timing when you bought your van. If you bought when used prices was high and now you want out your going to get a big hit even if your trading in to buy another used and the used you are buying as come down in price you are still taking the same hit. If your loosing e.g. 5k your loosing 5k which ever way you look at it. I have a 2021 swift challenger 560 Hi-Style i paid 23k 2 years ago private, I suspect i have lost more on this van than i have on my previous 3 vans after a lot longer ownership.
