Hate to see them go. I just bought three loaches for my tank because of yours. My Livingstoni and Christyi both tried to eat them, but they learned really quick to leave them alone. LOL. Now, they are doing great, but I now get what you mean about getting food to them.
I have clown loaches with peacocks and haps and I feed them their own sinking bottom feeder tablets also feeding them in the morning before I turn on the light and at night after I turn the lights off helps too I’ve found my other fish don’t go after the bottom feeder tabs but do go wild over algae tabs
Had two little loach buddies.. got em back in 2007..one guy passed on in 2015.. the other guy passed away yesterday...feeling really sad...never had any fish that lived 11 years ...almost like a pet dog....the dude wasn't a bottom feeder... and was almost 10 inches... ate all the floating terabits lol.. your video brings back memories when they were tiny little critters
In the future when you have upper water column feeding fishes & bottom feeding fishes in the same tank, take a 2" PVC pipe that extends to just above the bottom. Feed the upper water column fishes first, then put food in the PVC & wash it to the bottom so it come out the end of the pipe & provides food for the bottom feeding fishes. There won't be as much competition that way & the bottom feeding fishes will get their share of food
bye bye loaches....will miss the "spot guy"...but your reasoning is sound...a decision made in the best interest of the loaches..i wondered what IFG meant with the👀👀👀👀👀👀👀comment. Tank looks great as always..
YOUR CLOWN LOACHES ARE BEAUTIFUL....I PERSONALLY WOULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN RID OF THEM.....I'VE HAD CLOWN LOACHES WITH MY AFRICAN CICHLIDS FOR YEARS.....NEVER HAD A PROBLEM....THEY GET ALONG GREAT AND THEY ADD GREAT COLOR TO THE TANK......DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS.....THATS WHAT MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND............
+vincealinceable could be hit or miss. the bigger problem could be water parameters. since dempseys are from south America they need different PH levels than african cichlids
Adam C ah yes of course, Really would like a African C. Tank. But I'd only want one tank and my Dempsey would have to be in the said tank. Well I appreciate the response, I might just have to bite the bullet and have 2 tanks.
+vincealinceable I have seen people do them together and sometimes it works. be careful of MTS! multiple tank syndrome....once you get a second tank, then it turns into 3 then 4.......
Hi Adam.. I agree with your reasons. I have thought I may face the same situation although I don't have predator haps. It's a concern getting food to mine as well. Great job finding them a good home.. and yet possibly being able to keep tabs on them as they grown. Your tank will definitely miss the pizzazz of their colouration.. Now you will need to add a couple more haps lol
DebTim A CANADIAN Girl thanks deb. I think yours may do ok with the haps not being as aggressive of eaters as mine. you just may have to soften the pellets up by soaking them before feeding when your haps get bigger so when the few pellets do hit the bottom the loaches can eat them quicker and get more. otherwise they will just chew on one hard pellet and not have a chance to eat more. at least that's how I was able to keep mine up until now
I agree with your decision on why you moved them out of that tank. I would have set up another tank so I could keep them. Actually I have several tanks already set up that would work, but that's just me and my severe case of mts.
Tough decision but make but the right one as the haps are growing. Looking awesome as always. I enjoy your vids man, informative, to the point and no fluff, filler or silly over repetitive fan boy promotionalism.
I know what you're saying in my mixed African Cichlid tank I have a cat fish and it's hard to get food down to the bottom for him you almost have to over feed Great video Adam
Ben Ochart yep ben you'll probably get there eventually sadly. I bought the linni as a male and there was a hint of color out of the box so I think it's just a very submissive male but I'm not sure. I like how they look so if it ends up being a female I'll keep her and buy another male. thanks for watching ben
Hi, will miss loaches but still a beautiful tank. Like the videos. Question, All of a sudden my well water has high nitrates and therefore my tanks have high nitrates. Any idea what I should do? RO/DI then add buffers? Seachem denitrate? Biopelllet reactor? Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you.
JW Collect hi JW unfortunately you don't have a ton of options if that's your only water source. if I were you I would try to treat my water with seachem safe before adding to the tank, or while you are adding water to the tank. you can look into more expensive systems like you mentioned but I prefer to keep it simple and cheap
Awesome setup, I am starting a 125 switching from saltwater setups. How much filtration should I be running? Right now I have one fx6 I ordered a sunsun 704b for backup I wanna order another fx6 so I will have two and I am ordering a background this weekend praying I measure correctly.
Something Fishy 2 canisters especially fx6 would do well on a 125. if u do smaller canisters 3 might be best but it will all depend on how many fish u want to keep
I adopted 4 large clown loaches today! They were in a small tank so now the big guys are in my 120. They are 7-8 inches each. Biggest ones I've personally seen. They are doing well in the hap tank. I don't have predator haps, just common ones. Hopefully it works out.
+Cichlid MadMan awesome, I bet they love the bigger tank. I'm sure they will be fine, my problem was never that they were picked on it was just the predators were hogging all their food
your clown loaches are pretty big and active, they are in good shape. i have 17 clown loaches with frontosas, they are a good combination because frontosas spill a lot of food onto the bottom, clown loaches eat that off. i have kept my clown loach group for 2 years, they grow very slowly, my biggest boy(named Chuckle) is about 12cm, he is 2 years old. they grow up to 30cm in the wild.
Love that background man! Where did you get it and how much if you don’t mind me asking? I have a similar tank and have been trying to find one like that, that isn’t 300 plus dollars! Lol
Hi Joshua thank you. I got it from aqua decor in Europe. So if u are looking to not spend too much you may want to avoid that. Shipping across oceans and thru customs isnt cheap. If u want to find something for cheaper and still be nice check with Jay Wilson at universalrocks.com and tell him I sent u. This reply is assuming you are in the USA
I understand your point of getting hard to feed them , even my africans usually eat it all before it can hit the bottom and they just regular peacocks and haps . ☺
I am going to miss seeing those guys Adam. They are a big part of the personality of this tank. Totally understand why you would have to make this decision though.
I did the same thing awhile ago. The clown loaches had difficulty getting food. My venustus ate a 3 inch one. Haps grow quickly and loaches slow growers, not a good thing.
I mix veggie pellets from Ken's fish food with my cichlid pellets. The clown loaches focus on the veggie pellets and the cichlids on the other pellets. In fact, my clown loaches have doubled in size since I made this change. I only add enough food so that it is all captured and eaten within a couple of minutes. A few pellets make it to the bottom and the clown loaches grab them. My 340 gallon african tank would not be the same without them. In fact, I am finishing up a 500 gallon predator hap tank and hope to move my clown loaches over.
HalfMan HalfCichlid wow 500 gallon will be awesome!. I do mix veggie pellets and flakes but unfortunately my haps eat everything that touches the water lol
I found one way to feed it, with 1 mm food mixed with 2 or 4 mm , The haps go for the big ones and the 1 goes to the sand in the bottom, and the loaches eat like crazy, I wish to be close to you to take them,To many opinions of the you tubers sometimes Change the way we see things but any way your tank is beautiful enjoy it for many years!
Orlando Felix thank you Orlando yep that's a good plan. the only reason I didn't do 1mm for them is because those tiny pellets can squeeze behind my background which causes a mess
Yes I do not have that beautiful background, but sometimes I had to move in diferents position the return of the filters that way the intakes don't pick the food before the fish, Following you.
lol i over feed for my loaches to lol i just do a lot of water changes but i understand not wanting that maintenance, and yea my cichlids would starve them otherwise
man,i love them Lil dudes, but i understand where you coming from. bcoz i have two in my tank and it's hard for them to eat when you have some 6-7 inches fish in there. Best of luck to them.

Im sure you'll miss them...sucks. That spotted loach is beautiful.
South Florida African Cichlids and More yep I'll miss them for sure
I'll miss them but I totally understand.
+Cichlid Chick thanks for watching. I miss them
Good point Adam.
Reggie's H&P Cichlids thanks Reggie
Great video Adam! I'm sure you are making the correct decision. Thanks for sharing
Denny's Aquatics thanks for watching Denny
Hate to see them go. I just bought three loaches for my tank because of yours. My Livingstoni and Christyi both tried to eat them, but they learned really quick to leave them alone. LOL. Now, they are doing great, but I now get what you mean about getting food to them.

I have clown loaches with peacocks and haps and I feed them their own sinking bottom feeder tablets also feeding them in the morning before I turn on the light and at night after I turn the lights off helps too
I’ve found my other fish don’t go after the bottom feeder tabs but do go wild over algae tabs
Glad you found a good home for them. Tank is looking stellar as always
J Spalding thank you J
good call not to over feed the whole tank
+asif hussain thanks asif i appreciate the comment
Had two little loach buddies.. got em back in 2007..one guy passed on in 2015.. the other guy passed away yesterday...feeling really sad...never had any fish that lived 11 years ...almost like a pet dog....the dude wasn't a bottom feeder... and was almost 10 inches... ate all the floating terabits lol.. your video brings back memories when they were tiny little critters

John Carlson very great tip!
beautiful loaches
+Benjamin Lalremsanga thank you Benjamin
You made the right decision. Can't be over feeding the whole tank like that.
Steve Poland Cichlids thanks Steve, probably should have done it a while ago
I sold my group awhile back and I regret it to this day. Just last weekend I bought 9 again lol.
Viran Panchal haha. I will regret having them but not regret the hassle of trying to feed them
I had a clown loach with CA cichlids and he ran the tank. Nasty SOB.
ZZ430T56 sounds like a tough loach
bye bye loaches....will miss the "spot guy"...but your reasoning is sound...a decision made in the best interest of the loaches..i wondered what IFG meant with the👀👀👀👀👀👀👀comment. Tank looks great as always..
Pam Parsons thanks Pam, yep IFG has known for a while. I will miss the loaches
great decision Adam
Efrain's Cichlids thanks efrain
That smaller dark fish... what is that? Almost black with horizontal lighter striping....

+DANIEL VENDITTI thanks for watching Daniel, it was just getting too hard to get food to them
With That amount of African Cichlids, would introducing a Jack Dempsey to that aquarium be a problem?
+vincealinceable could be hit or miss. the bigger problem could be water parameters. since dempseys are from south America they need different PH levels than african cichlids
Adam C ah yes of course, Really would like a African C. Tank. But I'd only want one tank and my Dempsey would have to be in the said tank. Well I appreciate the response, I might just have to bite the bullet and have 2 tanks.

Too bad you have to get rid of them. Clowns are my favourite. New sub 😁
thanks so much for subbing. hope u enjoy
Bet they were hard to catch!
Tony Canniffe it took forever
Hi Adam.. I agree with your reasons. I have thought I may face the same situation although I don't have predator haps. It's a concern getting food to mine as well. I agree with your decision on why you moved them out of that tank. I would have set up another tank so I could keep them. Actually I have several tanks already set up that would work, but that's just me and my severe case of mts.

Tough decision but make but the right one as the haps are growing.
Looking awesome as always.

Love my three loaches but will probably come to this point as well someday. BTW, off topic, is that Linni a female?
Thanks for the post.

they are so cute! they look like they're dancing and showing off for the camera. I hope they are doing well with their new owner.
+Wingedcat Person yes they are doing very well
Its a little late but you could of used pvc pipe to let food sink in pipe then pull it out walla foods on Bottom....
this makes me so sad i love clown loaches. i do not know about cichlids, pellets that sink to the ground wont help? probably too late to suggest.
+En-Tseh Wang yes I was sad too. the cichlids gobble up anything whether it's floating or sinking. I tried everything. :(
keep them lol ##SqUadUP LoVE always BRO
+EmoneycichlidsNYC thanks for watching E
farewell quartro loachoes....lol as long as they go to a good home, I understand.....✌
wichid cichlid thanks wichid
I thought clown loaches were sensitive, and could only tolerate soft water like 6.5. They look really healthy!
Oh no!!!!
Awesome setup, I am starting a 125 switching from saltwater setups. How much filtration should I be running? Right now I have one fx6 I ordered a sunsun 704b for backup I wanna order another fx6 so I will have two and I am ordering a background this weekend praying I measure correctly.

JC Brown that is a young tyrannochromis maculiceps
What would your whole tank value be?
+Australian adventurers - as in just fish or everything?
Beautiful loaches...any chance of a vid in their new abode?
+nyko911 thank you nyko. I will have to wait and see on that
Getting them a new home was pointless.
+NotYour AverageGunny why
my clown loach has a spot just like that and I have them with my mbuna for 2 years and they thrive
+Caleb Mayo that's awesome
Adam C there my favorite fish I have honestly besides my fh
+Caleb Mayo they are really cool
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🤠
madcypress L.L. thanks
arent there discs that sink to the bottom for bottom feeders!
+Dsaturday Fwight yes there are, unfortunately the haps eat those too. thanks for watching and commenting
Adam C lol, u just sound like u don't want loaches with it "super rare" Cichlidae
your clown loaches are pretty big and active, they are in good shape. i have 17 clown loaches with frontosas, they are a good combination because frontosas spill a lot of food onto the bottom, clown loaches eat that off. i have kept my clown loach group for 2 years, they grow very slowly, my biggest boy(named Chuckle) is about 12cm, he is 2 years old. they grow up to 30cm in the wild.

I understand your point of getting hard to feed them , even my africans usually eat it all before it can hit the bottom and they just regular peacocks and haps . ☺
Ricardo cichlid thanks for watching Ricardo
farewell guys ....i do love them in your tank .....by the way that lepturus green is feisty lol
bernie grant haha yep he does get feisty from time to time
I am going to miss seeing those guys Adam. They are a big part of the personality of this tank. Totally understand why you would have to make this decision though.
+Robert Reese thanks bob. I didn't really want to let them go

Dose anyone know why 2 of my clown loaches are faded in colour only had them for 1 month growing fast but I don’t know what this means
Mine faded in and out. The dominant one never faded
ohh ok so the smaller one is more dominant ?
@@adamc7918
It seems to change
man,i love them Lil dudes, but i understand where you coming from. bcoz i have two in my tank and it's hard for them to eat when you have some 6-7 inches fish in there. Best of luck to them.
Theo 904 thank you Theo
what is the size of ur aqurium
+ARGHYA CHAKRABORTY the larger one is a 220 Gallon
People keep fish that don't live with each other in the wild all the time. You'd hardly ever find an aquarium where that isn't that case! Clown loaches do fine in an African cichlid tank, provided you aren't struggling to feed them like Adam, of course. I hand feed the loaches because the silver dollars take over.
Good idea
damn free adult loaches. that's not something you hear too often.. for that size loach my fish store would probably try to ask for $100 each certainly no less than $50 each
Reid Smith yes they aren't cheap. but I didn't pay to get them either so no biggie
Reid Smith they do get fat and big
Clown loaches are expensive when large. The 4, 7-8 inch ones I got today I imagine would be expensive at a fish store. Lucky they were free to a good home, me!!!
I got mine as juvies and it's taken them over a decade to reach the size they are now! No wonder they're a little pricy when big.
Sean very slow growers. My 3 9 inch ones are over 7 years old.
