I blurred the visuals because they were not too appealing
No visual required anyway, you have to do you OWN in YOUR HEAD... Each one of us have their visual... A little exception is for the "official" visuals from the cover or the concerts, as they are "fit" to the music, and let you imagine anyway.
BTW, GREAT reaction, I like that you wait for the whole listening before giving your feeling... I'm going quickly see the next one... This is my fav album... Like many people I believe.
This is an album best listened to with eyes closed
Check out The Dark Side of OZ
@@corzahazard444 I was just telling someone else about the Wizard of Oz "Dark Side of the Moon" connection. Like 30+ years ago when the VHS was still 'a thing' a bloke demonstrated it for me because I didn't believe him when he told me. It is freaky how well they synch up.
I am so glad to see a younger person enjoying and respecting the music I grew to, riding around for hours in a 1970 charger r t
I envy people hearing this for the first time. Its a masterpiece
Agree . I’m jealous . Fun to see and feel it thru others on here . I’ll take it
Agree.
I still remember hearing the album when I was 13 in 73. A friend of mine had bought the LP and we listened to it through headphones on his parents stereo. RIP Keith.
Does anybody else over a half a century old feel the song “Time” more profoundly with each decade that passes?
Every decade's getting shorter
I definitely relate to it very much
What the......it was 1983 just a few minutes ago ?!?!?!
Only in a relative way.
Yep... As I'm in my early 60's, I can certainly relate to it.
Before you ask, her name is Clare Torry. One of the most astonishing vocal performances on any track ever.
And she hated it! Did one take to feel it out and thought it wasn't any good but they correctly went "we good"
It's always cool to see people's reaction the first time Clare takes them to church
It's up there with Merry Clayton and Sandy Denny 👌👌
@@mikahjohn2809 I'd add Jacqui McShee from Pentangle to that list
I have listened to this album thousands of times. About 15 years ago, I had an epiphany and figured it out. First, the title "Darkside of the Moon" is not referring to the moon in outer space. In early psychological text books mental health professionals used bubbles, or circles, to fill in how crazy someone was. So if someone was a little nuts, they would fill in a quarter of the bubble. If they were half way nuts, they filled in half and if they were completely insane, they would fill in the entire bubble, circle, or moon. This album takes a person's life from birth until death. It starts with the slowly fading in sound of a heart beat and it slowly gets louder and louder and you hear sounds of everything you will experience throughout the album or what this baby being born will experience in life. Then the opening lyrics are "Breathe, breath in the air. Don't be afraid to care. Leave, but don't leave me, look around, choose your own ground. Long you live and high you fly, and smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry and all you touch and all you see is all your life will ever be." Those are parents talking to their newborn baby. "Run, rabbit, run. Dig that whole, forget the sun", as in get a job. "And when at last the work is done, don't sit down, it's time to dig another one." Keep working, job after job. "For long you live and high you fly, but only if you ride the tide." As in do what everyone else is doing by working constantly to keep the money coming in to live a good life. "And balanced on the biggest wave you race toward an early grave." Doing what everyone else is doing, busting your butt at a job like everyone else you will cause your early death from the stress of working so hard. Now, he is a young adult in "On The Run" doing what his parents taught him to do in our modern world, racing around in terminals, working hard until he crashes and burns. Then the next song deals with the stress from the feeling of not having enough "Time" in life. But what is really amazing is at the end of "Time", the original album released in 1973 had a song called, "Breathe (Reprise)" and you will notice that it sounds like "Breathe in the Air" and that piece is small, but important. He returns home to relax and sit in front of a fire and says, "Far away across the field, the tolling of the iron bell calls the faithful to their knees to hear the softly spoken magic spells", which is people going to church to listen to sermons to help people cope with the stressors of life and everyone's inherent fear of death, which leads beautifully into the next song, "Great Gig in the Sky" which is about death. When Clare Torey was brought in to sing with this beautiful piece of music written by Rick Write, she was told to think about death while singing, but not to use any words. I'll tell you the rest of the album meaning on the next half of her reaction to "Darkside of the Moon". I'll see you on the other side.
That is a beautiful expression of the album💜🌚
I don't care if you're right or wrong, man that was just beautiful.
@@belfastsoul8863 Agreed!
I’d say spot on.
Sources?
David Gilmour is lauded for his guitar skills, and rightly so(underrated i think). But his singing, and the soothing nature of his voice is criminally overlooked.
HOW TRUE
He's not underrated, he has a huge following of people who think he's the best in the world at emotional playing. He's in all the lists for the best players of all time.
Oh i know! But as i said, even then he's underrated, that's how highly i tout him. No one bends a string like gilmour.
#Facts 🤷🏾♀️
One of the greatest emotive musicians of all time
OH sweetheart you've got to listen to that without visualls just sit back in a dark room with no interuptions and soak it in.....preferably high LOL
Ya the visuals muddy is
@@ryanonethreethreeseven357 Thank you Yoda
I clicked on what I saw available but I agree I listened without it but I wasn’t all that focused on the visuals though I listen more to the sound so the visual won’t ruin my experience. I relistened while paying attention to the visuals and some parts fit but most was not great I was happy to have found the 2nd part with just audio. It’s such a fantastic album.
When I was about 7-8, my parents, who were pot-heads, used to take us to the planetarium in FLint Michigan on Pink Floyd night. They woudl get high on the way so us kids must have second hand smoked quite a bit on those nights. I was 8, and feeling otherworldly
@@HutTwoHike you really shouldn't be getting high until you're like 20 or something for brain development reasons
Clare Torry is the young lady belting it out in the great gig in the sky masterpiece in my humble opinion
An absolute masterpiece for sure - and she laid that down in one frikking take. So glad she finally got paid what she deserved.
I understand that she nailed it on the first and only take...
@@frankkessler4086 Not quite. I mean it was and wasn't. On the first take she had put vocals (words) in. The band all said good but lose the vocals so she redid what you hear today in one take.
@@utGort definitely took more than two takes good sir. Look up her interview about it
@@utGort Very cool... Thanks John.
I'm glad to see you listen to the entire album, and take it in as a whole. That's really how Dark Side, and most every other Floyd album, has to be done.
I thank my lucky stars growing up and listening to Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, and Rush. A better decade of musical genius never to be replicated.
Finally see someone listen to Time and Great Gig in the Sky together and appreciate the mastery and feeling in the pair. So nice.
Indeed. It can not be break into pieces.
Honestly, best way to experience pink is high, alone, headphones on, no distractions, and your eyes closed.
I did exactly this with an old girlfriend, not a Pink Floyd fan at all. And as the last heartbeat faded away, she just said, "That was Effing amazing!!"
@@jonahpeden8770 That’s Awesome 😎
Without any doubt!
Its a fact...lol everybody

The dark side of the moon isn't only an musical album ...it's a life experience. Amazing experience 😎
YES it is and always has been
It's always cool to see people's reaction the first time Clare takes them to church
Great gig in the sky is maybe no is the greatest vocal performance without a single word being uttered.
Congratulations, you've just taken your first steps along a longer path. -Obi Wan Kenobi.
I hate when people make those crappy homemade videos. They distract from the music. Glad you liked the record.
Agreed. I covered that side of the screen.
Newman!!
Agreed. At least she isn't listening to pop country, pop, or auto-tune rap.
The official screen film is so much better imo
The stages of life from birth (breathe) to death (great gig in the sky).
The break you heard was someone putting a space between the songs. It is not in the original album, that flows seamlessly between songs, one running smoothly into the next.
"I feel like I've been in like, 3 different dimensions already", followed by the song Time.. enters 4th dimension
After Pink Floyd comes a void, a vacuüm. And after many lightyears something that sounds like rockmusic slowly appears. But it never eclipses the ultimate sounds of Pink Floyd. The origin of musical art, the best.
Your reaction to Time...I have experienced it exactly the same way...since I first heard it when the album was released in 1973. The intensity of my experience never fades. It's magic.
Nobody is ever ready for Great Gig in the Sky. Tremendous sound.
if Dark side of the moon isn't in your record collection- you don't have a record collection!
David Gilmour's guitar and vocals are heavenly.
The Great Gig In The Sky is powerful stuff. I can see you felt it deeply.
Oh my word I love your reaction you are a lovely soul god bless you . Watched your reaction to Elvis ,just love you you have made so happy , was feeling sad until I stumbled on your channel
Dark Side of the Moon was on Billboard album chart for 741 straight weeks from 1973 till 1988.
Done the right way: one whole album side at a time and using headphones for maximum impact. I never tire of David Gilmour's guitar solo on "Time". And someone else's visuals are meaningless to the greatness of the music itself.
Floyd fans heard the songs in the album in live concert a year before it was released. Lucky people.
its great to see in 2020 someone enjoy the music i listened to back in 1973
Timeless
Every year is getting short... never seem to find the time ....
Can’t believe you are actually doing the whole album. Smart smart girl 😉
Precious your face says it all....an otherworld experience ...that's what Pink Floyd is....I seen them for the first time in 1969..... completely breathtaking ......they take you to another reality....welcome aboard ❣️❣️
Whenever i feel stressed or anxious about something, i just put on some Pink Floyd, close my eyes and just let it flow.
Love watching those newbies that have that very first “i cried listening to time” moment 😉 welcome to the official Pink Floyd fan club ! 👍
Finally the right way to listen to Pink Floyd the entire album with headphones 🎧 its an experience thank you for me its a time lost.....but not forgotten...Happy Thanksgiving 😊
With over 45 million copies, this is one of the best selling albums in history. It was in charts from 1973 to 1988...
Now that's how you listen to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, thanks for take me back to my teenage years, the only difference is that l'm not on LSD😜🤟
Always so envious of people hearing this for their first time. I’ve been listening to Floyd since Dark Side first came out. I was 10 yrs old. I’m now 57.
I saw Pink Floyd so many times live they are without doubt the best live band I have ever seen
I like how you mentioned that you felt like you were in 3 dimensions. The next song was Time. After the 3 spatial dimensions (X,Y,Z), the 4th dimension is time. That is space/time.
Your face is so expressive! I'm glad you like the album, I first heard it on the day it was released in the UK. I haven't been the same since!
I came to see your reaction to the Great Gig in the Sky. I got what I thought I was gonna get. LOL
Reminds me too much of my dad.💔💔💔💔😭😭😭😭😭😭 I miss him.
My Dad too 💔😭
My condolences to you both 🙏🏾🙏🏾💚
@@THEJAYYSHOW .. Thank you ❤️
Good on ya, luv!!! You gotta take the red pill completely if you wanna see the whole thing. 😎
Too many people miss the forest for the trees.
I REMEMBER THEM FROM 30 YEARS AGO . WELCOME ABOARD THE TRIP WILL BE A SAFE ONE. THEY WERE AHEAD OF THEIR TIME WITH A UNIVERSAL MESSAGE OF PEACE.AFTER ALL MUSIC IS A UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE. ENJOY
Gilmour and Waters together made a masterpiece out of every song they ever did together.
Its allways the best!
Pink Floyd lives on and on and on forever in our minds and ❤
I can tell you are FEELING the guitar solo in the middle of “Time”. David Gilmour claims another soul.
The ladies singing is absolutely beautiful it gives me chills.
You got to listen and run with your own imagination and go along with the experience. Please ignore the visuals somebody else did.
One of the only bands that you can feel their music not just in your soul, but also feel it in your bones too.
Animals is still my favorite album by them though. Listen to that all the way through.
Mine too. It may not be as “approachable” for beginners, but it’s definitely the deepest and most unforgettable.
I grew up in a home filled with music lovers … I first heard this album summer of 1973 I was 10 years old
Loved it then love it now at 61 … it’s a masterpiece musically & lyrically … enjoy the ride ….
The great gig in the sky vocal was done on the first take by a little British woman with a big voice.
Clare Torry her name 😎
Not the first take, but she explains it here: ua-cam.com/video/mIW7xZSlZoM/v-deo.html
Second take actually, the first one Clare sang "babe" throughout the song which they didn't like so no words the second time.
Thanks for that psbarrow. So I guess it was two takes.
@@robertbernstein3713 2 and a half, actually :)
The Dark Side of the Moon is meant to be an aural, emotional and even a psychedelic experience, not a visual one.
TY for a beautiful reaction video......THIS IS HOW ITS DONE PEOPLE
I can’t wait to see your reaction to all of these but especially Great gig in the sky- it’s my favorite one to play for people
Clicked like again b4 even listening! So excited! You are awesome girl!!!!
Just ran across yr channel, I really appreciate U playing mostly the whole 1/2 album without interruption, appreciated yr honestly getting into it, really absorb the vocals, instrumentals, vibes.... keep yr content coming.....now a subscriber, tks
I've watched a number of reaction videos for Dark Side...they are all good...but maybe they miss the themes, or maybe they get caught up with the music and miss the lyrics...or the other way around...but you really hit it all...I felt you get it as it came..
Great reaction vid. Kudos!
Beautifully soothing and gut wrenchingly disturbing at the same time
I loved your reaction you could see you processing how different and unique Pink Floyd are...and how they get to your emotions .. I have loved this band since I was a teen and you just reminded me how that felt hearing them for the first time..even now I still feel PF every time I listen to them class they are... blessing from the UK 🙏🙏
I have to say that I have heard this album plenty of times since it came out . Watching your facial expressions is fun to watch . You have very expressive eyes and also to see you get lost in the soundscape of the music was good to see. A great reaction.
Loved your reaction. It’s an amazing album.
I've never seen your reactions before, but I'll subscribe to you just based on the fact that you listened to the whole side 1 at once - the only way to hear it!
Happy to have you 💚
Pink Floyd albums are not records they are the owners manual for the mind and soul
Welcome to The Brotherhood of The Floyd
Was my first album that I owned.
That must have been special
This is my first album too! I was 11.
This is my first album too! I was 11.
Soo incredible, even to this day. They were truly light years ahead of their time. Oh, great reaction on your part, just perfect.
I thought they were ahead of their times too, until I tried to put them in a time since then. And I can't find one. Think they just kinda by themselves
HEYYYYYYYY!!! LOL :) YOU'RE DOINGGGG THE ALBUM JAY, YAYYYYYYYYYYY! ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE GIRLY! :) X'S
I so miss Clare Torry, No other has ever done her vocals on this album justice. many have tried and many have failed
Thanks for taking the time to do this
My first house lil stop off n hangout place,4ft speakers shrooooooom listen to Pink Floyd kicked back n no one talks just good times dam lot my buddies are gone now I still listen to all our favorite songs music, not same but music is good for the soul Yano your reaction is awesome
So beautiful You and Dark Side as I am waking up this morning 🌞. Great start to my day 🌞
You have the best Stank face ever when great pieces of music kick in.
The gig in the sky the 3 backup singers for Pink Floyd their excellent
That last chorus in Time always gets to you Jay! ❤️
I'm so happy you listened to it all the way through, yes its comparatively short, but its amazing
So glad you did this
There are so many hacks out there making their own videos , mis leading people to false sources.
Cool,music from my era!
My favorite album!
The visuals were awful! The ones in my head are so much better.
There's a fan vid someone did for Wish You Where Here(the song) and the thung is so bad. They literally just posted visuals for EVERY lyric and ran them with the song. It's an abomination.
Enough said
The Great Gig In The Sky= the greatest piece of music ever written
So much respect for listening through a whole side of the LP at once.
When you learn about what «The great gig in the sky » is about, listening to this masterpiece is a whole new and deeper experience !
I was 21 in 1973, and in the army. One of my army buddies bought the album, and we listened to it in the barracks that weekend. I’d never heard of Pink Floyd, but after listening to it I was absolutely hooked. I’ve played it countless times over the years and it never gets old. There’s a reason it’s considered one of the greatest albums of the 20th. Century.
The great gig in the sky it stuns every person that hears it leaving them speechless every single time they listen to it
Albums like this is why I bought a quadraphonic stereo, the music would chase itself around the room.
Their best album, together with Wish yuo were here. Can you imagen what I expereanced years later, seeing them live
Visuals not needed, the whole point is to kick back and create your own movie in your head.
I still did that it was just the video I found
it's movie in your mind
Pink floyd is a musical rollercoaster just shut your eyes and enjoy the ride
I was 13 years old and got stoned listening to this Album , he he . I had the same reaction you had . Im so glad younger people are learning to appreciate this music .
Yayyyyy it's time!!
It's a movie on a record
Awesome. well done for giving the whole deal a crack.
Loved your expressions. Beautiful. You really should do the album after that: Wish you where here (1975). It is of the same caliber.
The flashbacks !!!! Karachi American School, can almost smell Night Blooming Jasmine and hashish in the air !!!
Beautiful release.
