An even sneakier (and more devastating) revenge would have been to scatter Japanese Knotweed seeds onto Cindy's lawn. They're tiny and innocuous, so she'd have never spotted them, but knotweed grows like bamboo (huge, hollow, segmented stalks, but with broad, heart-shaped leaves), but with none of bamboo's usefulness. What's worse, it spreads by underground root runners, AND by seed, so once it's established, it's damn near impossible to get rid of. *EDIT:* Ok, ok; yes. Using knotweed would be edging into the Dark Side of the Force. Dandelions and buffalo clover, then; just as pernicious and difficult to get rid of, but a lot less nasty, and better for the environment. Dandelions are good for a lot of critters (including us), bees love them, and are good for helping to break up overly-compacted soil. Buffalo clover is also good for bees, but is part of the legume family, so it fixes nitrates back into the soil.
oh man no, as true as you may say, it would also quickly spread to everyone else and remediation for knotweed is highly destructive, expensive and intensive, it takes YEARS to treat and destroys water habitat. At the very least bamboo takes less time to remediate, destructive but easier to manage and it wont spread via water ways or on the water fowl. LIke if you ever seen knotweed removal...you might as well scalp the whole area several meters deep, and all that soil has to be carted away to be treated.

And if there are other infected trees in nearby yards, it's supposed to be a losing battle trying to stop it from spreading.
Fruit trees can attract pests from insects to rodents. They may need maintenance and get diseases. Citrus can no longer be easily grown in Florida for example due to disease. Bananas can be an eyesore if they aren't maintained. They generate leaf drop. Bananas also die after bearing fruit so there will constantly be dead matter. Some bananas can get really tall as well and blow over. Some fruit trees get really tall and take over. It can be quite costly to pay for them to be pruned. That doesn't justify what the neighbour did. I dream of a tropical fruit orchard but recognize there are downsides and work needed to maintain.

In my state and a few others. You cannot force anyone out without an eviction notice that grants 30 days to get their affairs in order. This applies to anyone who has been living in a location for more than 90 days. They were their for 5 months. This same code exists in many states and is a very common law regarding squatters. In my state in particular if there was fraud involved and the family currently living in the house is victims of the fraud committed by a third party then the courts will demand a resolution that ensures the family living there gets money back equal to treble damages. The person who’s house was sold illegally will also get treble damages. The person who committed the fraud will face massive jail time.

To see if a story is fake look to see if it has the following 1) unnamed or seldom spoken about country 2) cultural stereotypical people 3) perfect recollection of events 4) full conversations. 5) dystopian setting in any way 6) extreme reactions to mundane issues 7) HOA stories. Story 3. Love it! Tegu lizards are not small. I have 2, and they are about 4 feet long from tip of nose to tip of tail, but they are not agressive at all. If I was OP I would have gone for the iguanas as they are bigger. My iguana is 6 feet long from tip to tip and weighs about 30 lbs, but they are not really agressive either.

Vacation homes get 2x a year maintenance. It's suitable if you actually maintain everything at once each visit, especially since there's no trash, or use of the property that incurs damage or waste
The now deceased mother and her daughter were estranged. The daughter was living in another country and didn't know her mother had died. Her uncle handled getting the house in her name and checked it out twice a year. Hopefully he had arranged for lawn care. The insult added to injury was the home was never part of the HOA.I feel sorry for the people who thought they'd bought the house and ended up being renters. That had to be heartbreaking.
If the mother was in a nursing home then there’s a chance they couldn’tve found out till 2 years later, my buddy didn’t find out about his grandmothers death till 2 years after it happened cus the nursing home tried to cover up mistreatment and elderly abuse
Hey Ripe, glad as always to hear your voice. Warching white fluffy inside cat Disney reminded me of a funny story from when my boys were young. We had a fenced in 1/2 acre lot in the city and I convinced my wife that the boys needed a dog. We went to the shelter and they had a litter of 7 puppies whose mother's milk had dried up. They were mutts (best dogs in my opinion). Three were female and had extreme fluffy, white fur. The others were males and had brown and tan markings typical of German shepherds - one fluffy and the rest short haired. The kids thought they were all cute but my wife said she prefered one of the white fluffy ones. As it happened the pups weren't to be released for another week. After a week I took my oldest son to get one (we had already gone through the vetting process at the shelter). We were told that the dark fluffy boy was spoken for but all the rest were available. This is where I might have been an a-hole, as I didn't much like the white fluffies. The problem was solved when one of the dark short haired boys stuck his tiny nose through the grating and sniffed my son's hand. "We''ll take this one," I said, and we did. To justify what was to come I was the parent at home and was well aware of how dirt and mud-covered the boys could get when playing in the yard. So my son and I get home with the puppy and everyone is happy except for my wife. "I thought I told you I wanted a white one!" I could have lied and said they were already adopted but I didn't. "I prefered this one." "Why?" she asked. My response, "Because it won't show the dirt." I narrowly avoided sleeping on the couch that night but that little saucage grew to be a small moose and the most kind and gentle kids' dog ever. Broke my heart when he got cancer and I held his head in my lap when he was put down. But as dumb and happy as he was, he never showed the dirt. Good boy, Kim.
When are hoa Board members ever not going to be on a power trip. I really think a government body should exist in order to extremely restrict what an hoa can do and to prevent stuff like this from happening. plus I think he should have paid five hundred thousand dollars! but I'm just glad that the whole hoa got this Bandit in the end. and the lesson to be taken away from the story is: never trying and take and sell a property that you don't really own because the real homeowner might come back and completely ruin your life.

I basically have an idea for this where you can just pay a year's worth of hoa fees. this could be done from any point in the year: by that I mean that if for example you want to get out of the hoa and you're in August you only have to pay the rest of the fees for that month and at the beginning of the next January you are free of the hoa’s control. and if an hoa refuses this then the person has the unconditional right to this band the association and will receive all the hoa’s money Plus all of the properties of the hoa board members with them not even able to bring them to a courthouse to discuss this. that or just being able to shoot them dead. Hoas are the worst thing to happen to this world since covid.

For the barista one, reminds me of when I started working at McDonalds. Had a lady try to repeatedly yank the door open from my hand despite our lobby being closed to the public. She told me she wasn't "waiting in line for a god damn ice cream cone and other resteraunt let is in their lobby!" I tried to be polite with her and tell her I was following a higher ups rules. Well She spotted someone she thought was a manager and demanded to speak to them, unfortunately for her it was our regional representative, the one who actually issued the order for the lobby closures. He even told her to "go back to that resteraunt then or wait in the drive through, but the lobby is closed" and shut the door in her face. Told me she was being a salty c--t and I was more patient than she deserved. Felt good hearing that one. Since then being able to tell a customer NO when it was something we couldn't do has been beyond theraputic after working the hellscape that was retail.
Only problem with drive thrus is that you give your card to that cashier you don't know what they are doing with it my dad knows a guy who had a woman who had one of those card readers that read your cards in her pocket he noticed her putting his card in her pocket before handing it back to him he went in the restaurant and immediately called for a manager and explained what he had seen what she did what gave her away was she refused to turn out her pockets to prove she was innocent plus how suspicious she was cops were called on her

I'm glad I'm not near a HOA area however people can call the county and cry about property value issues. To try to force landscaping improvements. Over all the fact is no matter who owns the property the final say goes to the true owners which is the government. So knowing the law is always most beneficial. Basically with HOA you watch out by what they know about the laws and the relationship they have with law enforce.
For the record, Bamboo might all shoot from single central saplings, but that doesn't mean those new shoots are the planter's responsibility if they grow into a new property line. I could be somewhat incorrect, but that's one of the reasons it's so prolific in certain central U.S. states.
You're right. In most states you are within your rights to cut down a branch from a tree, plants, etc., that come over the boundary and onto your property.

Story 2: I've had to deal with a customer that pulled the "are you calling me a lier" line on me. She went full Karen and proceeded to cut me off over and over by repeating the same line. Basically she had claimed that she called ahead to make sure we had room in our bowling alley for her group. She also claimed that whoever she talked to said we had plenty of lanes. But within the time frame that she claimed she called, I was the only one answering the phones. I had no phone calls that entire time, we had a league scheduled to take up most the alley for the next few hours, and the few lanes left for the general public were already in use. I had barely started telling her why she couldn't have called us before she went full Karen on me. I was just going to say that she was mistaken, but I had learned first hand from my Mom that if someone gets that offended about the possibility of being called a lier, it's because they are one. My boss, who is a total pushover to customers, decided to appease them by giving them an unused lane that is saved for if one of the league lanes breaks down. Those lanes also act as a buffer between the league and the general public bowlers. Needless to say, our league bowlers were not happy about that, but the damage was done.
For the first story id like to say its pretty abhorrent to say "well you illegally bought my house so im just gonna keep the profits and count is as rent" if i was in that situation id rather have the money back so i could move and buy another house instead. Unless they agreed to that which is pretty stupid honestly.

Imagine you buy a car that will appreciate in value, and after owning it for a while you find out that you no longer own said car, but the owner (not you) says "nah its cool, you can rent it for (x) amount every month with how much you paid going towards it." Title search? Was the will properly probated and notarized? You can't just "make up a will." Did the uncle sign it? If not it's invalid.

Story 3. Love it! Tegu lizards are not small. I have 2, and they are about 4 feet long from tip of nose to tip of tail, but they are not agressive at all. If I was OP I would have gone for the iguanas as they are bigger. My iguana is 6 feet long from tip to tip and weighs about 30 lbs, but they are not really agressive either.
Tegus are beautiful and very awesome.

When the idea was first made it was near the beginning of the 1900's, people were not so shameless then. It also was more about whether they liked something or not. Which is true enough. Opinions are subjective. It shouldn't be used to allow for abuse of the employees or thievery. (One could argue the person at that point is no longer a customer though).

And twice a year isn't sufficient to keep up with the minimal exterior maintenance that would be required .

Vacation homes get 2x a year maintenance. It's suitable if you actually maintain everything at once each visit, especially since there's no trash, or use of the property that incurs damage or waste
The now deceased mother and her daughter were estranged. The daughter was living in another country and didn't know her mother had died. Her uncle handled getting the house in her name and checked it out twice a year. Hopefully he had arranged for lawn care. The insult added to injury was the home was never part of the HOA.I feel sorry for the people who thought they'd bought the house and ended up being renters. That had to be heartbreaking.
If the mother was in a nursing home then there’s a chance they couldn’tve found out till 2 years later, my buddy didn’t find out about his grandmothers death till 2 years after it happened cus the nursing home tried to cover up mistreatment and elderly abuse

Hey Ripe, glad as always to hear your voice. Warching white fluffy inside cat Disney reminded me of a funny story from when my boys were young. We had a fenced in 1/2 acre lot in the city and I convinced my wife that the boys needed a dog. We went to the shelter and they had a litter of 7 puppies whose mother's milk had dried up. They were mutts (best dogs in my opinion). Three were female and had extreme fluffy, white fur. The others were males and had brown and tan markings typical of German shepherds - one fluffy and the rest short haired. The kids thought they were all cute but my wife said she prefered one of the white fluffy ones. As it happened the pups weren't to be released for another week. After a week I took my oldest son to get one (we had already gone through the vetting process at the shelter). We were told that the dark fluffy boy was spoken for but all the rest were available. This is where I might have been an a-hole, as I didn't much like the white fluffies. The problem was solved when one of the dark short haired boys stuck his tiny nose through the grating and sniffed my son's hand. "We''ll take this one," I said, and we did. To justify what was to come I was the parent at home and was well aware of how dirt and mud-covered the boys could get when playing in the yard. So my son and I get home with the puppy and everyone is happy except for my wife. "I thought I told you I wanted a white one!" I could have lied and said they were already adopted but I didn't. "I prefered this one." "Why?" she asked. My response, "Because it won't show the dirt." I narrowly avoided sleeping on the couch that night but that little saucage grew to be a small moose and the most kind and gentle kids' dog ever. Broke my heart when he got cancer and I held his head in my lap when he was put down. But as dumb and happy as he was, he never showed the dirt. Good boy, Kim.
When are hoa Board members ever not going to be on a power trip. I really think a government body should exist in order to extremely restrict what an hoa can do and to prevent stuff like this from happening.

I basically have an idea for this where you can just pay a year's worth of hoa fees. this could be done from any point in the year:
by that I mean that if for example you want to get out of the hoa and you're in August you only have to pay the rest of the fees for that month and at the beginning of the next January you are free of the hoa’s control.
and if an hoa refuses this then the person has the unconditional right to this band the association and will receive all the hoa’s money Plus all of the properties of the hoa board members with them not even able to bring them to a courthouse to discuss this.

For the barista one, reminds me of when I started working at McDonalds. Had a lady try to repeatedly yank the door open from my hand despite our lobby being closed to the public. She told me she wasn't "waiting in line for a god damn ice cream cone and other resteraunt let is in their lobby!" I tried to be polite with her and tell her I was following a higher ups rules. Well She spotted someone she thought was a manager and demanded to speak to them, unfortunately for her it was our regional representative, the one who actually issued the order for the lobby closures. He even told her to "go back to that resteraunt then or wait in the drive through, but the lobby is closed" and shut the door in her face. Told me she was being a salty c--t and I was more patient than she deserved. Felt good hearing that one. Since then being able to tell a customer NO when it was something we couldn't do has been beyond theraputic after working the hellscape that was retail.
Only problem with drive thrus is that you give your card to that cashier you don't know what they are doing with it my dad knows a guy who had a woman who had one of those card readers that read your cards in her pocket he noticed her putting his card in her pocket before handing it back to him he went in the restaurant and immediately called for a manager and explained what he had seen what she did what gave her away was she refused to turn out her pockets to prove she was innocent plus how suspicious she was cops were called on her

I'm glad I'm not near a HOA area however people can call the county and cry about property value issues. To try to force landscaping improvements. Over all the fact is no matter who owns the property the final say goes to the true owners which is the government. So knowing the law is always most beneficial. Basically with HOA you watch out by what they know about the laws and the relationship they have with law enforce.
For the record, Bamboo might all shoot from single central saplings, but that doesn't mean those new shoots are the planter's responsibility if they grow into a new property line. I could be somewhat incorrect, but that's one of the reasons it's so prolific in certain central U.S. states.
You're right. In most states you are within your rights to cut down a branch from a tree, plants, etc., that come over the boundary and onto your property.

Story 1: Sounds like the couple that bought the house did everything by the book and suddenly went from tenants to renters. They should really sue the fraud for everything and then find another home to buy and own.
Story 2: I've had to deal with a customer that pulled the "are you calling me a lier" line on me. She went full Karen and proceeded to cut me off over and over by repeating the same line. Basically she had claimed that she called ahead to make sure we had room in our bowling alley for her group. She also claimed that whoever she talked to said we had plenty of lanes. But within the time frame that she claimed she called, I was the only one answering the phones. I had no phone calls that entire time, we had a league scheduled to take up most the alley for the next few hours, and the few lanes left for the general public were already in use. I had barely started telling her why she couldn't have called us before she went full Karen on me. I was just going to say that she was mistaken, but I had learned first hand from my Mom that if someone gets that offended about the possibility of being called a lier, it's because they are one. My boss, who is a total pushover to customers, decided to appease them by giving them an unused lane that is saved for if one of the league lanes breaks down. Those lanes also act as a buffer between the league and the general public bowlers. Needless to say, our league bowlers were not happy about that, but the damage was done.

Imagine you buy a car that will appreciate in value, and after owning it for a while you find out that you no longer own said car, but the owner (not you) says "nah its cool, you can rent it for (x) amount every month with how much you paid going towards it." That's what happened to them. They lost something that appreciates in value, and they lost any say in what happens to the house.

Story 1 doesn't make the sense, too many gaps. Surely the people who bought the house paid to the HOA guy so they would sue the HOA guy too. Other bits make no sense too. House sale require some kind of conveyancing (or local equivalent) and checks with a land registry (or local equivalent).
