- DUUUUUUUUUUUDE! Wait until you see this thing in person because it is massive and we are thrilled to have it in our showroom. Zach from ReptileKages.com built us a custom enclosure for our pair of Ackie's Monitors and they are thriving in their new home. These guys are found in the hot scrublands of Australia and do great in pairs. They are carnivores, and insectivores that need deep substrate (at least 12") and are very active, intelligent lizards. Guys we have been talking about this build for over a year, and after all the anticipation it is finally up and running. We could not be more excited to have this incredible set up in our ShowRoom. HUGE shout out to Zach from ReptileKages.com, do yourself a favor and check him out, he's doing some really great stuff.
Thank you everyone for the continued support!

The Dude Abides!
Wow those Ackie's are going to love that enclosure! Great design! Love how you could possibly see into the burrows and all the hides available!
Dude this video might make me spend ALOT of money once I get more space!
Loving how much space they have!
not only is this my favorite enclosure of yours, but this is also the happiest i’ve ever seen you in a video. congrats!
Good video, awesome enclosure. Just wondering why you didn't put the cork bark tube in the enclosure with the lizards inside it, instead of ripping it apart and probably scaring the shit out of those lizards? Understand your making a video and I don't claim to be an expert or anything....
Michael Arbogast well said, it isn’t always the nicest is it? 😔
I believe he is not thinking,he looks impulsive.
@adam these lizards this size cannot bite off a finger lol
I'd love to see the biodude create a large snake setup. Retics are so difficult to make bioactive, most people say its impossible.
You know it’s a big setup when you have to use a spade to put the substrate in
I used a 5 gallon bucket for a 6 x 2 x 4 😅
Holy crap this enclosure looks amazing so glad I watched till the end.
Man, this setup is AMAZING
Hey Josh! I have been binge watching your videos and I wanted to thank you for all the educational videos! I started my hobby of planted tanks and aquascapes about 4 years ago with a 20 gallon and a single cichlid. Fast forward to today and I have 7 aquariums of different species animals! Every day I try to learn more from different communities and came to know so many people with this passion. So from the planted tank community, thank you!
Happy to hear my videos have been helpful on your journey in this community! Thanks for the support!
One of the coolest setups you have done
This is the best editing I’ve seen on your videos
Wow what a large spacious enclosure! Looks great as always!
I'm about 4-5 hrs away and CAN NOT WAIT till the next time I go to surf side bc I am TOTALLY stopping by!!!
Literally the best ackie enclosure ive ever seen.
I love it … i think i will Replan my new enclosure for the ackies
Love to here it!!👍🏻
Really this is what most pets need.
Biodude 👍🏾 is Super Bioactive on UA-cam this year! Tell Zack that’s the best Custom Kage yet! Great job guys! Keep pushing out the content My Dude! I’m waiting on the “How to make your own Dirt at home video!” 👀
Such a wicked build! Awesome job Josh! Those ackies are living the life!
Hey josh 👋 I am a huge admirer of your work. This is not a rant so please do not come at me guys. I just feel like quite a lot of your setups feel rushed. The reason I think this is because it seems like you put everything together as quick as possible. I just watched your crested geck tank guide and I felt like it just felt really quick, for example you added the wood and instantly said “I’m digging it” although you may be enjoying the way it looks, it is not always ideal for the gecko. In the video you layer the wood down pretty much. But in reality, crested geckos naturally enjoy climbing vertically. So please take this into account. Even if it is time lapsed when you are trying different positions with the wood, it would be great. Because remember, what you like may not always be the most ideal or safe/naturalistic environment for the animal, so it would be better to design the terrarium for the gecko instead of for just your enjoyment. I love your videos though 👍🏼 keep up the work!
And the grand total is......... a great informative dream video.
Dude I’m so gonna get a tank like this for my 3 akies
Can you do a video on feeder insects!? Saw the one on your spring tails and isopods wich was great but id love some help with my dubia colony and supper worms! Most importantly the dubia roaches!
Can someone donate this man a mic already? Fan of his videos but i think it's time to take the professionalism up a notch!
That looks amazing !
We need a update on this setup
Very cool Enclosure!
I am not seeing any areas where they can really burrow, and it is kind of a death trap if they try burrowing into that, and it looks really dry for a ackie.
The Bio Dude video grind is real!! 😂😂😂
It really is - Dude we are just getting started this year! YT is getting some awesome content these next few quarters.
Stacked it like I’m trying to plant trap cards 😂 the hailstorm97 abides 👍
Please do an bioactive enclosure for an leopard gecko, corn snake, green tree python or for a hognose🙏🏻🙏🏻😍 love what your doin’ and keep on 💕
What about a chinese water dragon bio active set up. I live in the uk and love your videos very inspirational and educational but not much really on water dragons. 👍
Hell yeah! I love your setup videos!
Wow! This is a very good video. So much information, but I missed a few thing. How big is the enclosure and how much do you think that set up cost? Thanks and please do a follow up on this set up with your 2 monitors.
Hi Josh, could you do a video for bioactives for Jeweled Lacertas?
I appreciate the recommendation, I will add it to our list of future videos!
Can you do a video on how to care for plants in a bio active enclosure because I have a hard time keeping them alive! Thx
Have you done a follow-up to this video?
When you put springtails and isopods in the bioactive set up do they or could they get mites?
Does bio dude make complete care kits because I don’t see it on the website?
I honestly wonder if I did the same set up like 100% the same how much $ would it all come up to look so amazing and I 100% agree if we are going to keep animals in captivity we should give them the best life we can give them but hell I can't imagine how much this would be.
I would say between 3k and 5k. Without the Ackies. The enclosure is probably 2k or so. & substrate around 1k. Then, you need to take care of your plants, bugs, moss, wood & rocks. Another 1k maybe.. at this size. These are all estimations, so don't quote me. But around that definitely. I just did my Beardie in a 5 x 3 x 3 and it cost me around 2k.
This might sound like a dumb question but would an ackie enclosure be similar to a bearded dragons but with the extra inches of substrait to be able to burrow?
Yep!
Great Vid!
Amazing!
A beautiful enclosure that those ackies wil definitely enjoy! But why did you destroy the cork tube to get them out? Why not simply put the cork tube in the enclosure for an hour orso? So much unneeded stress caused for those 2 ackies :-(
I am glad you enjoy the enclosure. You are right, I really should've just put the tube back in the enclosure and allowed them to come out when they were ready. I was just eager to show you guys and put them in, that's my bad. I will be sure to be more mindful in the future.
@@TheBioDudeJoshHalter enthousiasm gets the best of us 🙂
Curious if you have any insight into Black pine snake bio setups or if you will be posting a video for them? Finding it hard to track down information on this on the web.
Why does josh remind me of hiccup from how to train your dragon
You guys a number 1 but what cage size?
Do I have to worry about parasites with a bioactive enclosure?
Does the weight of the substrate ever cause the sides to bulge out? Or how is it reinforced?
Hey there! nope! These are made with a thicker material so as to insulate better and not do any bowing. This is their website here - reptilekages.com/
Would be great if Kages would ever reply to inquiries about products. I have questions almost a month old that have gotten nothing more than an auto-reply on Facebook Messenger.
Best comment...I got wood...😂
Do you have to change the substrate
No that's why ther is isopods
Josh can you do another video on paceman frogs
So I’m interested in the western hognose snake bioactive kits you sell on your website but I have a few questions how many bags of soil does it include with the 20 gallon size and does it include all the plants and decomposing insects?
What is the measurements of this enclosure?
Wow..!! such a wonderfull natural enclosure! may i know the dimensions
Thank you Dana!
I had a question, could you make a video about building a bioactive tank for dumpy frogs?? Ps. Amazing video.
Hi can you make a video for a bioactive uromastyx setup because I’m looking for a uromastyx
I’m going to be honest, maybe you should go a little slower, and think when you doing your enclosures, they are not ugly, but they look like the stuff was just thrown in it without a purpose. I just believe that when you go for a set up you don’t really think, just act.
the ackies look like the skullcrawlers fron kog skull island!!!
Can you please make a red eyed crocodile skink bioactive setup
I’m filing for bankruptcy just watching this build.
Looks good but I feel like it has more potential.
do you know when your getting isapods back in stock on the online store???
Do your products ship to New Zealand?
Which of your substrates is best for a young ackie I’m trying to decide between the Firma and Sahara
Do you have vents on the enclosure?
I need that enclosure where can I get it
What plant is that? Trying to set up my own Ackie enclosure
Hold on. Let me win the lotto! I'd love to take care of my ackies like this, but no way can a common joe afford this.
It's actually pretty cheap.
idk this is at least a 2 thousand dollar enclosure with over a 1000 dollars added in substrate, lol. not quite cheap.
@@HUNTENMASTA1337 bro you're tripping.
Nah fr. This tank is awesome but I'd probably go for a grow tent, then probably build a wood bottom for it to sit in to ensure it's not going to bow out.
Probably get quite a bit of my substrate from Lowes or home depot, maybe a few bags from biodude and a few other sources.
It's awesome they can afford this but for reptile owners on a budget this isn't super attainable.
WHAT IS THE SIZE OF THE ENCLOSURE AMD OIS TEMPERED BETTER THEN ACRYLIC
Hey there! i do not quite know the exact dimensions, however it was made by the fabulous Kages- www.thebiodude.com/collections/pvc-reptile-enclosures
Could you do a red tail boa bioactive Viv video
I'm sorry but its way to cluttered. Looks like nothing in the wild. Nature has lines and curves and flows. This looks just like a pile of sticks and dirt. I'd take out about 1/3 of all the clutter.
Btw can you make a bioactive kit for leopard geckos and emerald tree skinks
wow the Audio
Can you please do a set up for a brazilian Rainboa boa and maybe a carpet python??! I have both and looking too invest in a bioactive for them. Thanks
He has a video on a carpet python build
I only see some on Carpet chameleons, whats the title?
Where can i get earwigs from
How often do you have to change the dirt/clean the enclosure ?
Never ther are isopods in it that's what makes it bioactive
Just wondering could you pair two female babies forever
With the right size enclosure
I dont think this dudes ever seen where the ackies live in real life lol
Haha yeah my thoughts exactly
What size of a terrarium i ned for 2 Ackie monitors ?
I always ask myself after the video ends: These enclosures obviously weigh a lot with all the substrate. How do you move them? lol
There is wheels on the bottom. The guy said 36 wheels
What are the dimensions?
May have skipped over the part where you said the size of the enclosure.
6 x 4 x 6 I believe : )
Looks more like 6x2x6
Looks more like a 6x3x4, if we’re talking about LxWxH. No way is it 6ft tall or deep, since reaching back you can touch the back. Looks about as deep as a few of my cages, which are 3ft deep.
Bone stone looks a lot like dead live rock
Can you do an updated ball python set up video?
this has to be around 5k inclusing the ackies
When i looked at the site for the substrate its 100 bucks for two bags and he said he used 55
omg what an unstabil build. Hopfully your akkis didnt get hurt by digging and getting hit by fallen stuff.
Cant be any worse than you're spelling. (This is Josh)
@@TheBioDudeJoshHalter Try to andswere me in german and and i have a look on your mistakes.
@@TheBioDudeJoshHalter that was very un-dude-like
Stuff literally falling off the back while he's building.. omg at least use silicone or smthn o-o
What was the total build cost?
Around 3,500 give or take.
@@TheBioDudeJoshHalter is that including the cost of all the material and isopods?
I read on your website you don’t ship internationally, does that include Canada or Ontario to be more precise?
There doing the dirty so funny
Way over done
No such thing with terrariums
like 420!
wont find the ridgies again
So no one's noticed the huge mistake you made when describing the distance off the uv bulb. Its 12 inches at MOST, not 12 inches at least ! Holy crap.
Calm down
Someone needs to monitor these monitor videos on their monitor..................
And still nothing done about the mistake. Nice.
@@markrigg6623 it has no relevance maby it looks smaller to you from video but he is there in real life even if it is wrong it has no relevance and affects nothing. Also it is an old video what do you want him to do delete the vid and make a new one...
My ackie wouldn't care for this. He's more obsessed with being a dog lol
2 men throw wood in box
I sent an important email to you may you please read it and respond back as soon as possible. Thanks so much 🦎
It's Ackie not Ackie's. Ackie refers to the binomial name V. acanthurus
I hope I wasn’t the only one that actually knows them enclosures weren’t engineered they are the most generic design engineered my ass 🤣
Great design, what type of plants did you use?
I love your videos and you're such a cutie 🙈
