You're missing the point. You're trying to make this kind of videos on UA-cam to be glamorous and fancy. But the truth is that we need cheap cars. We need simple cars. There is reliability and simplicity. We don't need Bugattis. Nobody cares about those cars, but we always make those videos about glamorizing those stupid cars. What's the point
A lot of people do care about performance, premium and luxury cars, even if they’re never going to be able to afford them.
Just because you don’t care for them, doesn’t mean others don’t.
Room in the market for all levels, and indeed for videos on all of them.
TJ was not complaining about the cheap interior - it was what was expected given the price point. The complaints as far as I could tell were really more about safety and range/charging. We need good affordable EVs that are comparable to the cheap ICE cars.
@@erktrek Also performance to an extent. 20 second 0-100 is not enough to safely merge onto highways. Something in the range of 14-10 seconds would have been adequate.
If you thought I was comparing this car to a Bugatti, you are mistaken. Of course we need affordable, simple cars. Hopefully you noticed all the positives I had to share about it? For the sake of the review though, I need to share the truth about some aspects (quality, performance, range, charge speed, safety issues etc) that’s the point
@@TeslaJigsaw yes, it's absolutely not bright to spend money on a car this size new, when you could probably buy a second hand Tesla. However, people who buy new cars, bless their cotton socks, are always doing all of us a favour who sensibly buy second hand. I'm most interested in what price this will hit the market when they're second hand. I don't actually want a massive great Model 3, I don't even want 4 seats but my choices are currently the Spring and the Smart car which is ancient and was designed by the hacks at Mercedes and not actually redesigned as a ground up electric version. But Dacia Spring also has a cargo version with only 2 seats which is a great move.
I just hope a lot of people buy them and hate them so they become cheap second hand quickly :D Of course, if Tesla made a short Smart sized car, that's what I'd desire, but their Cybercab is enormous so even if that were realistically available (and we don't even have legislation in place to make it possible anyway) it's far, far, far too big.
Those who have bought this car, have probably done so because they're aware of the simple fact that a third class ride always beats a first class walk..... This is now Britain's 3rd cheapest new car....
By the looks of a lot of Brits these days - they need to walk more 🤣🤣
Cars have become too expensive, and needlessly complex. More vehicles like this are needed.
Makes you wonder if the low "safety" rating is just because it doesn't have all the annoying beeps going off.
Explain to me again why the Spring wouldn't make a good no frills, cheap to buy and run 2nd car for most peoples 30 miles per day needs?
Did i mention it comes with a free home charger and 0% APR here.
And as for the NCAP rating, what score does a cyclist or motorcyclist get... and how many cheap used EV's have vehicle to load for camping or for use on your offgrid land.
Yep....a veritable bargain
AND Dacia give a 3yr warranty and an 8 yr battery warranty
Who cares about NCAP? It's completely corrupt now anyway. The lowest star rating caps your total rating so a one star in any category means you get a one star, which is ludicrous. Because they're all high stars in actual crashes, it's just the massive list of expensive driver assist features that are causing problems. It is incredibly clearly a way for European manufacturers to promote luxury cars that no-one needs.
I do agree, this car is not the safest, fastest, longest range, most comfortable, roomy, but it sure does possess a disarming and honest charm - so incredibly rare these days. When the Original Austin 7 came out (later renamed a Mini), it probably would not have got a safety rating at all and we would have all missed out on the modern car revolution this iconic little car heralded. Whatever the Spring's drawbacks, I hope it is a huge success - as what will follow will only be better, in every way.
Yeah - it's great, but I'll wait 24 month's and pick a low mileage one up for £5k then - because these will depreciate like a LEAD balloon.
It's a city car for everyday short journeys that happens to be cheap. Not the worst but the best in my mind
It's a small, affordable car. Get over it.
More. On. I think the alf garnett look should give the hint.😂
Dw, he bought a Tesla. That's never a sign of good judgement.
It’s a cheap short distance runabout. As such its perfect.
Just don’t get into an accident or suddenly want to enjoy the process of driving 🤷♂️
@TeslaJigsaw if you are incapable of enjoying driving a Dacia Spring that sadly is your limitation. 😂
@@TeslaJigsaw I drive to work and back during rush hour. Being in a Ferrari wouldn't make that experience any more enjoyable. The 2021 NCAP one star rating doesn't bother me either, that's one more star than almost every other car I've driven would get.
@@TeslaJigsaw Welcome to the world of cheap motoring as lots have done for years.
As I understand it it is NCAP that has introduced more requirements so the Dacia has fallen back it's no worse than driving around in a car a few years old with less safety ratings.
As I understand it it's mainly lack of lane assist (I would switch it off anyway) pedestrian safety and seat belt warnings??
It probably still conforms to the ratings of a few years ago so crash protection is still the same??
It's exactly why Lada/Skoda etc sold cheap cars years ago. You get new components and a warranty.
I'm 77 and have only ever owned one new car a Suzuki Swift back in 2008.
2 years later I was back on used cars.
The majority of new cars are far too big for my requirements and I wouldn't have one even in ice form.
My idea of tech is a Citroen Ami without the phone.
We urgently need low cost basic cars not these expensive tech laden monsters.
Until we get them the changeover isn't going to happen.
Yes they could increase fuel costs to persuade us to change but I would just give up driving as I don't have the money for a new car and no point in a £20k plus car just to drive to the shops and the odd trip in the summer.
@@skasteve6528 The issue with the star rating is that it has few of the annoying stuff like lane keeping assist and autonomous emergency braking and other stuff that town and short distance runabouts just don’t need and the drivers, for the most part, find so annoying on a car that is seldom driven for more than 20 minutes at a time and mostly at about 30 mph with a maximum of 45 . This car is probably as safe as any 5 star car from year 2000 and somehow we survived quite well through it all to be here today.
The Dacia range is the solution to the bizarre’buy with your eyes’ and ‘software on wheels’ nonsense that has overtaken real need. Is it safe, is it comfortable, does it do the job you need it for? VAG, Merc Benz, JLR(tata), Stellantis, GM… are all near death because they tried to keep up with a software in the shape of a car business model, owned by a mad billionaire and couldn’t. All most people need is a Renault Zoe, Fiat Panda, BMW i3 with a hundred mile range IN WINTER and a fast charger.
But,but, but cupholders, 0 to 60 in less than 10 seconds, scratchy plastic, heated seats, aren't those the first things real world buyers consider?
@@skasteve6528 Yes according to most narrow minded Numpty reviewers 🤣🤣
We drove Nissan Leafs to bridge the gap between ICE and the Model 3. Leafs were great except for the range like the Dacia. For long trips we rented a car, for neighboring towns it just took a little planning. We didn't pollute and we could charge at home. Jeannine
If not for early adopters of EVs such as yourself, we wouldn’t have Tesla or anyone one else. Thank you! I imagine you paid the price in cost and convenience?
Perfect use-case👍
Now this EV makes sense. It's a simple, cheap and unfussy. EVs should be ecological and not ridiculous laptops on wheels
Ecological? Same as other cars. My "laptop on wheels" is the best and fastest car I've ever own. What do you suggest? Soviet rules forcing people to buy cheap cars?
@@jjausno need to force people, most people buy used cars anyway, most people can't afford new cars.
@@Markcain268 The OP thinks that only EV manufacturers should make cheap cars. Why? Should we ban BMW, Mercedes, Rolls Royce? A lot of us live in a free society. My EV was expensive, but so what? I'm getting old, probably my last car.
@jjaus he didn't say that, he just thinks there's a need for a cheap, no frills ev, like you can get with ice, I agree with him about all the tech in modern cars, I like to operate machinery as directly as possible, not have my inputs go through a middleman computer before the machine responds, most of the tech is just there to attract tech mad people to buy their product.
@@Markcain268 You're out of luck then. Technology wait for no man. You'll have to stick to buying old cars.
My wife has a first generation spring. She has 230-240km autonomy summer for a mixed usage. In winter ~170km. Not that bad for a car designed to be used in peri-urban area.
ITS THE CHEAPEST PROPER EV...... DACIA MAKE CHEAP SIMPLE CARS..... SOME OF US WANT A CAR TO GET TO WORK ..... NOT TO DO A MILLION MILES PER HOUR..... WAKE UP MAN
Yep, agreed! Exactly as I said in the video?… why are you shouting 😂
Obviously because your title and thumbnail imply the exact opposite and the attention span of most people is minuscule, which is why said people who can't afford those Bugattis don't even bother watching the entire video but rather get offended just like that. You're expecting too much!
@@TeslaJigsaw exactly as you said in video and judged your own audience for buying this car with a nice smirk on your face :P well done tell your own audience off for choosing something and showing absolutely your own bias in the review. Review something you dont like, make it painfully obvious that you dont like it, take a jab at anybody that might actually buy it. Perfect review "for those that dont care about quality refinement style joy fun life love laughter" !
TBH, it’s nice to see a no nonsense affordable EV.
Agreed. But you get what you pay for
Exactly
@@TeslaJigsaw i am german. living in china. i drive the new su7 max and a BYD hybrid here. for 15 grand we get cars here so far beyond this split level atrocity dacia barf simulator its almost unreal. so we get what we pay for is not always right. if the barfacia would cost 9000£ maybe people would not trash it so much. but 15k is steep even for such terrible ... well i almost wanted to say "driving experience" 😂
did i hear staggering 19 seconds from 0-100km/h? my got be careful mate such acceleration could make you pass out. 🫶🏻👊🤣
Same battery capacity as two Tesla power walls. And same price too. Is just that the power wall will get to 60mph in ...never.
This also almost gets you to 60mph never
@mikiex
Well, at least is trying.😄
I hate electric cars, but this actually makes sense. Low price, zip around town car for groceries, light shopping etc. Have a more premium ICE car for road trips.
Euro Ncap ratings may be as pointless as the discredited emissions tests that VW and others fraudulently avoided on an industrial scale. This Spring may mean you are a bit more dead than you would be in another car but dead is dead. Also, by far the largest factor in vehicle safety is the driver. Structural integrity and door skin thickness has a part to play - small - but a part. For example in the UK, the statistics are one vehicle occupant fatality for every 200 million miles driven. I agree it is only math but if you drive 10,000 miles in a year, you have a 1 in twenty thousand chance of putting your euro ncap rating to the test. By far the most dangerous thing to do is ride a bicycle, Almost entirely due to driver behaviour, inattention, road rage, drugs, alcohol. None of this is a factor in euro ncap.
My son is a firefighter and mainly cuts the deceased out of high performance cars with a 5star NCAP.
It isn't being dead that would worry me. The Spring is OK for front passengers in frontal crash, but in a rear collision the rear passengers will get broken necks, and the side impact is terrible.
Being paraplegic is possibly worse than just being dead.
This is exactly the sort of car that is needed by the great majority of British motorists.
Its lack un-necessary frills is precisely what is so good about it. Small is good as cars hove got too wide for most A and B class roads, so a narrow car is reasuring.
I would say that 19 seconds for zero to sixty is as much as most people can ever use in modern motoring conditions. I had a Skoda Fabia 1.9 non-turbo Deisel [02 plate] that claimed 18 seconds for zero to sixty, and I never felt it was not quick enough.
If you want something more fancy or faster, then its you money to spend. For myself, this is the first EV that appeared remotely sensible. A sort of modern Austin 1100 for the EV era.
No this is not the exact sort of car that is needed by the majority of British motorists.
Hence why they are already reducing them as they can't sell them.
Who would of thought it, some people want a car to be a car! The people who buy this car aren't soulless, simpletons. They favor honesty and simplicity rather than big box of expensive fancy tricks.
You can charge it from a domestic plug overnight, solving the issue for those of us that cannot charge from home. There’s absolutely and rightly market for this.
There is nothing bad about this little car, it’s what people have been crying out for, a back to basics car that ordinary people can actually afford , well done Dacia and Renault
15k new, I'd buy the Spring, basic equipment, basic repairs, basic costs, basic insurance,. Does it get me 1 mile to work and back every day? YES! do I need 0-60 in 6 seconds? NO! not for the one mile of city driving per day. Can I live with plugging it into the charger on the drive once a MONTH??? yeah I can cope with that. Does it weigh 2-3 tons? NO. Do I care it doesn't have adaptive smart cruise control? NOPE! never going on a motorway with this. If I want to motorway drive or travel distance, I use the petrol powered car for that. Do I care it doesn;t have a rear seat arm rest? PMSL!!!!!!!!! do i care the boot is big? nice for shopping or transporting the cash saved by buying this over a 3 ton lard a@@. Do I care it doesn;t have a vanity mirror? not really, I'm fugly so why would I care? SO I like its got a hand brake LEVER HELL YES!!!!! the girls are going to wet themselves watching me handbrake turn and light up the tyres.
Anyone that hates it, WHY the eck are you watching the review??? go watch the Shag'dUR reviews, they are more you, or the 80k Land Rover to get you off road into Marks and Sparks car park... PHEW glad i have a metres wading ability, that pay and display was SO TRICKY
Its the Citroen C1, Aygo, 107 from 2008 reborn with electric. Its what 80% of people NEED, not want. Who care Euro crap rating is low, I won;t be doing 70mph on the motorway anyway....
My Hyundai PHEV had around the same power as this from the electric motor approx 45hp. In a petrol car that would be awful but in electric it isn't so bad more than enough for town driving, even enough for the countryside and motorway if you have the patience. But then I had a petrol engine to back that up when needed.
Cars are becoming more and more like appliances, devoid of any character, individuality or beauty and EVs are making it even worse. They’re objects you own to perform a task, like a toaster or a kettle. I don’t care who made my toaster or kettle as long as it works and doesn’t fall to pieces after a fortnight and I feel the same way about new cars. They’re all hideously ugly so I’ll buy the cheapest.
Let me guess without watching it.
It's slow compared to Taycan
Feel cheap compared to Spectre
Doesn't go as far as a Model Long Range
Isn't as safe as a 3t Range Rover.
Does that about cover it?
You’ll never know its culinary skills
Too many car presenters voice their criticisms harshly , I enjoy your fun approach to any downsides in the product. 😅 Nice job Will. 😊 A used EV has my vote.
Thanks! 👍
In reality the toaster was charging the car.
It's a Citroen looking car.
I've always thought the duster or stepway is all the car anyone ever needs. It's a great family beater. Cheaper right to buy new and batter it until the kids turn 16.
At the other end it's a good retirement car. By one at 60/65 and the car will see you out.
This Spring I think is a worthy successor to them. Personally though I'd want 80/100kwh DC charging, so if I need to nip across country it's not going to be a total pain. But for a daily family, tip run, dog walking, meets to football/clubs, car, it is all anyone actually needs, and is cheap enough to buy new, not feel like you have lost any money, and will make a good family beater for 15 years.
The problem is that not many, including me, are happy with just what I need. But this would be an excellent 2nd car.
I've got a Born, and my wife is finally learning how to drive, she would love this. Reminds me a bit of my mum's first cars in the 80s, a fiat panda. I suppose this is like the panda of today.
Your video actually got me thinking. If Dacia can make that for £15k, what would a Tesla electric car that sold at £15k (including some profit) be like? I suspect it would be the inevitable 5-star safety that Tesla would insist upon, that would push the cost up higher, or reduce the profit to minimal, and stop it being worthwhile. Interesting thought though.
I just checked, in Slovenia basic model with 7,200€ subsidy costs 9,990€. That is something that many can afford. Only the safety really concerns me.
I test drove one of these and actually thought it was great fun! The 0-62 time (13.7s) is fine, albeit of no relevance in urban settings - the more important 0-31 is a nifty 3.9s!
The one-star NCAP was the mark one model - this new version has yet to be tested.
Perfect for 15 minute city’s you won’t be travelling far
Can you explain what you think a 15 minute city is please?
Compared to my 2001 Ford Fiesta this is quite a luxury car. The Fiesta has 200,000 miles now and is extremely reliable till now, but it does not have all these fancy features the Dacia has. I have a radio with tape player. The steering is not supported at all. But it all lasts forever.
I bought a Duster in 2019,everyone took the usual, calling it cheap and crap, since then ive had a sandero, and another duster, im off this Saturday to look and test drive this.
The interior photos from the LHD version were the original spring that was never imported into the UK, you drove the new version that is now available in both LHD and RHD versions. My advice, as always, is buy a used EV, so if you want one of these wait a few months, they will be rediculously cheap as a Used car.
Would get a used EV over the DS for sure - Most people (at least in the US) are not aware of how good and reliable used EVs can be thanks to all the continued FUD about EVs and the negative experiences / perceptions with owning a used (ICE) vehicle in general.
My older EV now has 42% degradation after nearly 9 years and only just over 40k miles from new. All EV batteries degrade with time and use cycles. It is not FUD.
@@FredFox-m9v A 9 year old EV has 9 year old battery designs. I believe more recent batteries are much better.
@EbenBransome The lithium ion battery was first released to the market in 1991. My car was bought 25 years later. New EV batteries have had only 9 years further development but mainly in battery environment control, which has helped but the fundamental degradation flaw in their design has not been removed. Why do you think that warranties for batteries are only 8 years ? If they were more confident it would be longer. Modern batteries i am told by an expert have around a10'000 cycle life. The only other way of increasing battery longevity is increasing battery size, to reduce the lifetime cycles. This elongates vehicle life but those vehicles are much more expensive, heavier and have less range per kwhr because of the extra battery weight. My EV only has a 30 kwhr battery. This is the biggest fundamental difference to longevity apart from battery environment management in the 9 years from my car's manufacture to new cars.
So this or a 2nd hand Kona electric, model 3, corsa e, leaf etc....
Reminds me of the cuteness of an original Mini
The strangeness of an Austin Princess
The accellaration of a Morris Minor
I drive the ICE equivalent of this (Dacia Logan), now its the 8th year. Not once I had an issue with it. Ofc not much can break down if there ain't much in it, but still, quality is not too bad.
Pleased to hear it! 👍
This is the sort of vehicle that might get mass adoption of EVs, not something overloaded with garbage tech and overpriced as a result. Euro NCAP is garbage these days.
My gut tells me people value quality, safety, features & functionality. Perhaps I’m wrong
Most people will buy a Safer used car with a larger battery - as for depreciation the Spring will be around £5k in a couple of years (Due to used market offering better longer range for cheaper), so yeah buy one & lose £10k over 24 months if you change your car regular - but for those that will keep it long term it might be a better deal 👍
The question is ... Which will break down first & cost big money first .. A new Dacia .. or a second hand tesla?
Given there are roughly 100x fewer parts in an EV, I’d guess they’d both outlive ICE cars 🤷♂️ My money would be on Tesla still
I'm not sure I could feel comfortable driving a car that slow. Even getting onto the motorway by me would be dangerous because of how short the slip road is
Yes, I missed the punchiness of my Tesla pulling out
Did it have a battery temperature management system?
Didn’t notice, but battery management is paramount to EVs
@TeslaJigsaw I suspect the smaller battery doesn't have one but the larger one does. If so, I cannot recommend the smaller one.
This car is exactly what electric entry level EV's should be logical, simple and cheap! Unfortunately not available in the posh Norwegian market. 😞
I'think there is a very limited number of people that this car would make sense for when you could buy something much better second hand, you could say "well it will last longer because you're buying it from new" but will it? They should probably show you the results of the test crash before they allow you to buy one :)
I would always choose the warranty of a new car. And, for quick, city commutes, a Spring would do the job.
A Dacia without "Good news!" That just feels very strange now.
Drove the extreme 65 and quite enjoyed it to be honest - great for what it’s purpose is - perhaps a bit expensive compared to what you can get on the used market but love the form factor - sick of large and heavy evs so quite happy to take the limitations as they are
Thanks for sharing!
We bought an almost new VW E-up! as our run around. It is a really nice car to drive. The Spring was second choice, but my partner wasn’t keen on the colours(well it was her money!). Personally I prefer the knobs and sliders in the VW over the iPad things in many ev’s.
This one was called ‘brick red’ apparently! A few interesting colours available. Haven’t driven an E-Up yet
You can't even buy a new VW Ey-Up in Yorkshire anymore - they discontinued it for the UK market.
@@UKMike2009 I did, it was pre-reg (31/7/24) from a VW main dealer delivered with 9 miles on the clock for £16450. It's fine for just dotting around and averages 4.8 mls/Kwh so eqv to approx 100+ MPG. If I need to go on a long journey then I use the petrol car.
@@steveparlow7322beardie beard. 😂
Yet, somehow, I applaud Dacia for taking the first step into making an EV.
I'm reminded of the phrase "Some people know and only care for the price of everything and the value of nothing"
Or how about ‘You get what you pay for?’ (Safety too)
@@TeslaJigsaw aye, like the Tesla deathtraps, catch fire and zero chance to get out of the back, fried children, you call that safe!

Thank you! Brian's awesome. He's helped me no end! I really enjoyed making this Dacia Video (and the toastie!) Didn't half cause a lot of emotions in the comment section though! 😬😂
Lots in Nice France. Great for getting around in town.
As Above, So Below
My brother in law has one of these… it’s good for driving around the town. It has enough autonomy for that. About 100 miles or 160 kms. I consider it very expensive for what it offers and I don’t like it because it’s done entirely in China. By no means it’s an European product. We are far too dependants on Chinese goods. At least the Dusters are done here, in RO…
Wonder how much the insurance would be on a sub £15k 2nd hand Tesla vs a sub £15k new Dacia?
Feel free to go through the awful process of insurance quotes 😬
you have to look people complain that electric cars are too expensive well here is a cheap one. no frills no complicated menus etc.
Perfect for the go to the shops, go to bingo, take the kids to school. run around.
even petrol new cars are expensive. if all you need to do is get from A to B what more do you need.
And because its not fast it should have a low insurance cost dont complain about a new car that has a place for many people
If you want something that is a similar size, go for a Seat Mii or one of its siblings. More range and refinement and a 3 star ncap rating. You can get a 2021 model for around £10k.
Yes...except that the stupidity of the vag group circumvents purchasing a new one.
BMW did the same with their superb i3....the perfect EV for daily requirements in the vast majority of ose cases...so we'll stop making it and build HUUUGE SUV's costing £50k+
With the dacia you get a 3yr warranty and an 8 yr battery warranty which you dont have the benefit of with a second hand mii
And how would that NCAP rating stand up today, hmm?
With its very limited range, power, space and comort, it everytime remains a second car.
But for that it's quite fine.
For very most of European drivers it fits about 60-99% of their trips.
The car is not as bad as you make it out to be. It all depends on what you want to use it for. It is obviously designed as an affordable urban runabout and you should test it as such. I personally wouldn't buy it, but I imagine that other's will find it good enough for their needs.
Still better than being seen funding Elon...
I can’t imagine how broken people would need to be to want any of Elons missions to fail. A sustainable electric economy & safer autonomous electric vehicles, Neuralink which is working towards restoring vision and paralysis, and SpaceX which is aiming to ‘back up’ our species into the future. I couldn’t be more proud to support Tesla

It's a great idea. They'll sell spadefuls of them. People have been crying out for exactly this a basic town EV without expensive crap to go wrong
This is what many people want because it’s affordable and laughably cheap to run.
I would look at a used EV, but as a 2nd car that you don't worry about, it would be great in 5 to 10 years time!
I've seen a preregistrated 65 for sale for the grand total of £12,500! That's a bargain! Wanting to move over to EV once I get a new job but the used market is a bit of a mine field
Well, lets put it this way:
I'll be able to own a new one of those Dacias and see for myself whether it's good or bad.
I'll never be able to own the vast majority of "wonderful" 0-60- mph-in-3-seconds EVs to make the comparison.
Why does this delivery remind me of Ant the one time wheeler dealer guy? Simple no frills car in the Dacia tradition. Maybe even some former Renault stuff ( Zoe maybe) in the same Dacia tradition. Ideal for a second car, or a pensioner's run-about, or a daily commute.
I'll keep my home charged Kia Soul 30 kWh battery - bought at 2 years old. It'll do but if it's written off ....?
Thankfully the Spring is not a Tesla, it's not tainted by Musk/Trump. That's a huge selling point.
Protect yourself and your loved ones, that's more important than petty hate. Which is likely due to Dunning-Kruger effect and media misinformation, on top of it.
Sacrificing yourself out of hatred is a self-destructive behavior, you know?
Well, your good car fasting didn't prevent Tesla shares to more or less double over the last month or so, nor did it prevent Trump to be elected. Disagreeing with their ideas is all very sane and legitimate, but hating "just because" is no good.
Ah! I'm not sure why I type this, I nearly never get any positive answer over those kinds of comments.
Exactly.
Oh boy, yet another one of my posts automatically censored by youtube. Hate it so much.
…I enjoyed it 😉
I see your post?
NOTHING WRONG , and everything right ( ok, maybe mostly right) about this car.
It is exactly what is missing from the EV world where the vast majority are c£ 30 - 40k.
Cheap as chips transport for the average daily journey of less than 20 miles....shopping trips, school runs etc.
If you are able to charge at home it is perfect for average daily use....cheap rate overnight charging at c£0.07p and with around 5 mpkWh you are almost getting about locally for nothing!
A particularly useful and cheap 2nd EV runaround.
A gery sensible car, at a very sensibke price....these should fly out of the showrooms.

Horses for courses if all you need is a car for nipping to the shops and getting around town its fine. You dont need a look at me in my massive 4x4 etc for the school run and the shops.
You had me at the Tata-like single wiper.
If the new Tesla Model Y (Juniper) does not have V2L or similar, it will be a huge miss. Why don’t they provide this capability? Last I heard they have the hardware necessary in the car. I want to be able to tap into that huge battery capacity and power my home, sell energy in the grid when the price is high. Come on Tesla!!!
Agreed. It’s only a software update away, so I’ve been informed.
@@TeslaJigsaw fingers crossed it comes as a software update to compatible cars soon.
Dacia Spring is making a big service to the electric community witch you are not doing with this video. Yes it does not compere with Tesla, but is a start in a god direction.
Nowhere did I compare it to a Tesla, and you surely picked up on ALL of the positives I highlighted?
@@TeslaJigsaw I sure did, but your title is clickbait and is reason for those against ev. There ia a Romanian driving a Spring from Romania to the Artic Circle. He was not an ev enthusiast he is an adventurist but he is transforming in to an ev fan.
If I had £15K with which to buy a car I would buy something second hand with decent comfort, practicality and a diesel engine - I just do not believe that EVs are, or will ever be, a viable replacement for ICE. If they were, would governments need to be subsidising them and forcing them upon us? That said, I don't mind admitting that around 80% of my motoring needs would be adequately serviced by the Dacia. I just wouldn't personally spend my money on one.
Ah so really a decent cheap EV then. Have I just watched the Worst Electric Car review?
For city center it s plenty enough 😊
Citroen ami
Renault zoe
Fiat 500e
Mini Cooper e
Corsa e
They are way more expensive but you can find decent price with 20000km old
19 seconds is still faster than my merc estate 😅
....and walking....just😂
Which merc is that?
Sadly a bit late to the party.
You'd possibly go for a decent secondhand EV instead of one of these but the v2l is pretty awesome.
It also has the trusty LFP battery.
3000 charge cycles by 120 miles makes the battery good for 360,000 miles.
That sound of a closing door Oh Noooooo
It’s what electric cars should be, town cars! Affordable, practical, low emissions & easy to park. Not everyone needs Starship Enterprise!
Markets exist for both, but spot on! This is a perfect vehicle for some
Well done Will for Shaking the Electric Speare, you’re quite a wordsmith. I’m considering becoming a patron. 😊
Consider away! 😉🍻
No contest a used EV. Actually you can get a 3 year old Zoe 50 Rapid Charge, with modest milage for 10K.
Don’t see anything wrong with it. You know what you’re going to get with a Dacia, so it fits with their USP.
Here we go ... 14,995 instead of 15,000 PLUS rip off fees and TAX theft.
Any other car would recive heavy criticism with all the shortcomings...but marketing made people beliving it's great value for the money...when in reality it's worst car brand on the market.
Here the cheapest version of this is almost 19.400 £ with the current exchange rate.
The Sandero isn't the best under the sun either, though it is still a best-seller in Europe. By contrast, this model was bought by almost no one, as even the new Macan electric outsold it.
Ill skip this model, thanks for the video. my 15k would go on a used EV.
As would mine, but it's good that the choice is there.....
This is the kind of car that kids parents will be buying in 3-4 years time to pass their test in - and they are badly needed.
Wow, do parents buy their kids cars these days? Must be wealthy, I had to work and save for my own!
Bro is reviewing a DACIA and expects a german interior. It's a tiny, dirt-cheap EV.
I will admit I still don't know why you would buy a new Spring over a 5-7 year old Golf for that price, but it's still cheap-ish.
It won’t be good enough for the people waiting of an affordable EV
15,000? Look at the Leapmotor T03 and you will understand that the Dacia is a expensive joke.
....until you see the design of the leapmotor😱 then youre the one being laughed at😂
Just looked.. is that car smiling?!
@@TeslaJigsawYes, the T03 smiles at the Dacia Spring. Because the T03 drives faster, accelerates to 60 miles 7 seconds (!) faster than the Dacia, it drives further, it charges faster. It is more comfortable, of higher quality and much better equipped. For example, with adaptive cruise control and navigation with charging planning. How do I know that? I have tested both. My result: I bought the Leapmotor T03. It has been sold in Europe by Stellantis since September. By the way: The European Dacia is built in China. The Chinese Leapmotor in Poland. Strange times, aren't they?
@David-bl1bt Design is a matter of taste. To me, the Dacia Spring still looks like the cheap Renault Kwid. This $3500 car for the Indian market is the basis for the Dacia. You can google it. But will you still laugh at the Leapmotor T03?
I agree the Leapmotor T03 is a lot of car for the money but has yet to have Euro Ncap Rating (though only has 1 star to beat) and it is competitive on both price and range - but it sure isn't a looker. I hope all sub £20k EVs are a success as we need more of these and as soon as possible.
Sounds like the Nissan Leaf of the EU and UK.
It highlights the necessary compromises of an EV.
Seriously a reversing camera... why?
So you can see what’s behind you?
I think all cars need to have them now by law.
This is how I imagine Tesla drivers to look like and behave
Imagine no more. We love our toasties
A cheap Chinese EV is not safe, that's nothing to be surprised about, is it?
What a pathetic statement
@@kevinstringer8938 What a useless, hateful statement. Please express you views instead of spew your frustration over, I don't even know over what.
Wait do you really think Dacia is... Chinese? It's an over 50 years old Romanian brand that has been owned by French Renault for the last 25 years.
@@FoobarDesign Dacia is not Chinese, but the Spring is. It's built in China by a joint-venture Renault-Dongfeng.
I suspect BEV's are like pizza. Even the worst ones are better than the alternative... I.e. fossil fool cars or public transit.... As a former transit passenger, I can say I'd much rather drive 99% of the time.
1st EV I might consider as a 2nd car.
