I've been listening to a lot of aic these days. Dirt is one of the greatest albums in all of music.
I’ve been stuck on the self-titled album lately. Soooo good.
@@njordan2001 Agree with this and Dirt. SO GOOD!
Id have to say facelift, dirt, and self titled. All amazing in their own ways. But dirt is the dirtiest album ever made.
Was the first cd I learned by them love it spent a lot of days jamming that on my old port cd player
If I recall correctly Dirt has
Them Bones
Would?
Down in a Hole
Rooster
I mean every one of those is 10/10
“Died” is the best drop D riff from AIC by far.
Definitely would love a full lesson of We Die Young and any other AIC songs!
Second that.
Third
💯
Yup
A massive YES to a We Die Young lesson.
'We Die Young' is my jam. I've been listening to that song for 30 plus years. It never gets old. Best song on that record.
First song off Facelift.
These riffs mean more to me than sweep picking , blazing fast arpeggios ever will. I didn't realize how much Cantrell influenced my own playing until I started re-listening to AIC recently. They were a sound and a band that completely floored me. Jerry's monster tone and dirty blues, Laynes unreal vocals, Mike Starr's huge bass, and Sean Kinney's versatility and might. They were dark, but so vulnerable and human.
Of all the post Staley era drop-tuned songs, "A looking in view" I feel is a truly overlooked gem. TONS of killer riffs, and some of the best "tag team" style vocals between Cantrell and Duvall. Definitely worth revisiting if it didn't capture you the first time.
How could you miss "Last of My Kind" in the post-Staley era songs?! It's my all time favorite!
A truly excellent one
Definitely more Alice In Chains please! We Die Young is one of the most badass opening songs on any album...that riff and tone and all of it is on fire. Black Gives Way To Blue is definitely an underappreciated album too. Great video!
That clip of Adam jones playing we die young riff during sound check is so mint that’s always the first thing I play when I go to D , either that or the bottom riff
I find it quite funny how the 6 riffs I've been practicing a lot lately are all on a video from you Greg!! Rain When I Die is one of the best Alice in Chains song in their entire discography!!
Would love an Alice in chains song series for sure.
This is the kind of video I was waiting for in your channel. Love AiC and It would be fantastic to have a more extended videos of this amazing songs. Thanks for your work
Dude, .”Stoned”riff shows how Cantrell’s time with Dimebag is well set in. Both of those guys were heavy hitters of the simple but bad ass riffs 🤘🏼
Dimebag sucked!
Them bones and we die young full tutorial, please.
Greetings from Brazil!!
Awesome man. 5 badass classics. Love to see a full song tutorial
Hell yes on full AiC tutorials! 👌
Man I love your flow and energy. Makes learning fun. Thank you for the content
I appreciate that!
Your tone just made me wee myself. Awesome!
Great vid!! and a big YES for We Die Young!!!
YESS!! Thank you for another Aic video!
Great video man! Love the casual, down to earth tone, like you're talking to friends about music, which is exactly what you're doing! But most tutorial content on YT doesn't feel like that. Just one comment, that chord on "Them Bones" is not a dominant chord, it's just a Dm7, the notes added to the power chord are just C (the 7th) and F (the third) the third at the top sure does make it sound like something else since it's so bluesy haha.
Another honorable mention for Drop C#/Db would be Red Planet off of Rainier Fog. Killer track but you can't go wrong with the tracks you chose. Fun video, I'm going to go practice now 🤘🎸
It's hard to contemplate the eternal wisdom Cantrell showed in making this music, since he was in his 20's. Amazing.
Such a great intro song to a great album! Yes, more We Die Young!
Good video and your tone is sick with that drop tuning, very close to Cantrell. And yes, wouldn't mind We Die Young lesson!
Thank You so much! Best teacher ever!
Great to hear some killer AIC riffs. Would love to have a lesson for the whole song please sir !
Absolutely love ur Drop D tutorials on Tools Adam Jones and AIC’s Jerry Cantrell. It improved my guitar playing and riff writing 10,000 %!!!
Keep ‘em coming with full AIC songs!
@text_AxeofCreation Working on my new “Drop D song” inspired by your lessons entitled “Gallop of the Four Horsemen “, when done I’ll LUK and post on my UA-cam channel.
The tool lessons are so well thought out and presented in such a way that it make learning easy and fun! Keep it up!!!!!!!
Adding chromatic steps inside a minor pentatonic scale can spice it up for solos too
I like the way you explain it!
Yes, We Die Young! Let's go!
Great video - thank you!
This is a goldmine of information
My man.... you forgot the best drop D riff in their Layne era catalog. Sunshine , off of facelift.
Gotta echo the sentiment that an Alice in Chains series would be awesome.
A massive yes to that "We Die Young" lesson
Thank you sir!
Just saw them at the Cynthia Woods Pavilion Woodlands Texas. Kick ass!
man your tone sounds nice. what amp and settings are you using?
insane tone btw
Damn that river is an awesome song!!!
ANYTHING WITH AIC IS MUST. SLUDGE FACTORY, ALSO GOOD DROP D
THANKS FOR THIS
Sup duder! Great episode! Try the we die young riff going up to the 6th fret from the opening 2, that sounds more right to me. Cheers!
I was going to say the same thing. He was playing it one fret too low, which may have been a tab issue. I learn everything by ear and I could hear that it was a half step off haha.
Definitely want to see the AIC tutorial
Personally, I’d dig tutorials on all of these songs!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Awesome video, by the way aren't these all in Drop C#?
Full lesson of all 5 please
of course, would love some aic stuff
awww i was hoping u were gonna play the “put you down” riff
Rain When I Die is what I'd like to see.
But also Sickman from Dirt has some amazing riffs to play & learn.
As a 6th additional one, Died by AiC is absolutely nutty in D.
Do the entire we die young!!!!! Please 😁
Can you do a tone video for JC like your adam Jones one.
We die young is sick, but damn that river verse riff always was difficult for me...
It's all sick , do em all
Geez, that guitar tone is monstrous. What do you use to get it?
Quad Cortex from NeuralDSP.
@@axeofcreation appreciate it.
We die young my favorite grunge riff ever.
Yes.
Yes, we die young lesson.👍🤟🤘
The river is DAMMED 😂
I remember when I was 4 my mom played Alice In Chains Facelift album Layne Staley was her celebrity crush lol
Yes please
8:11 Layne Stanley
So the low E string is actually tuned down a whole step and a half total?
Nice nice nice!!!
Dude. Can you please teach us the song Floods by Pantera? I like the way you teach and I need some instruction!
Yessss!!! 🤘❤🤘🎸
Damn that river is drop C
What you used to reach that tone? it's MASSIVE
YES! We die young! PLEASE!!!!!
PS: lessons for all!
Good to see at least one track from the albums released after Layne passed being covered, but there needs to be far more of it. The riffs from ‘Black Gives Way to Blue’, ‘The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here’, and ‘Rainier Fog’ are just as good as the earlier work, but don’t get the love - odd, given the same guy wrote them. Bring ‘em on, let’s see what can be done with them.
I agree, a part two is definitely in order.
@@axeofcreation loved this video. Thank you. So awesome that you picked easy to play but still the coolest Cantrell riffs and there's still so many more in AIC's music.
A Toolesque series of full AIC songs would be incredible
Yes pls any facelift riffs like this is shred(!!!!¡¡!) I know all the dirt dropped D or Dnb or whatever
Dn i meant Dflat
I see AIC I click
How about doing the whole album
What tune is.?
Please please we die young full song, thanks
00:52 video begins
Rain when I die
Yes all of we die young
Can we get a lesson on "Can't Put You Down"?
Rad, dude! The We Die Young riff is wrong though. It goes from the 2nd fret to the 6th with the little bend. Not the 5th.
That's C# tuning
pretty sloppy brah. damn that river got no justice.
There's LOTS of nasty post-Layne Drop D riffs tbh. The whole Black Gives Way to Blue and The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here albums are nasty riff factories
You can play it with your fingers?🤣🤣🤣
Title: Drop D riffs.
Okay first you wanna tune to drop C#...
what? bro like 60% of aic’s catalogue is in drop c#
A like comment because I don't wanna break the 666 likes 😁👍
Ok. So it's drop Db, not drop D
6th chord is not a D wtf? Ok half step down its all dropdflat?
I don't know what you're running everything through but that tone is like a fuckin' crunch wrap bacon burrito to my ears!
Yes them bones is a shredfest 🔈🟪⬛️⚪️🔴🔴🔴♨️💢♨️⚠️‼️‼️❗️❗️❗️💗💓❤️🩹❤️🔥💔💙💙🖤🖤❣️🤍yes it is worth knowing its also easy!!! That mext riff is the delight the “I feel so alone” one ofc i mean
Yes please
