- While visiting my father, Byron (By) Wingett in Anacortes, WA, to celebrate his 90th birthday, the Pacific NW fall weather was absolutely beautiful, perfect for a ride in his Ford Model A pickup! I decided to record video of Dad's beautiful machine and our ride so that I could share my experience with my UA-cam audience. I hope you enjoy the ride! Ahooga!!!
With all the garbage on UA-cam this is so nice. God Bless you and your dad.
Nice
I am 84 years old and have owned and driven a Model A coupe, a Model A sedan and a Model B pick up. This really brings back fond memories of highway travel on a summer night in my Model B. Thank you.
Its good to see father and son together in classic car.
God bless your father, what a man. so happy he can still drive and has it all.
Wow 90 years old, walks with no canes, no wheelchair, still drives. How wonderful your father is. God bless you and your dad!
Seriously, who did actually dislike this video? The car is just beautiful.
Beautiful old pick up and the gentleman's pride and joy.
Nice to spend that time with your Dad at his age and catch it on video as you did. Enjoy memories for life
What a wonderful father. He is very knowledgable about his truck!
Wow, this was a great video! And that guy looked pretty good for 90...and still driving too! Very nice! Thanks for sharing this 👍
Hey, this is so cool! My wife and I visited Anacortes in August, and we ate at Secret Cove and your father's truck was parked right in front. While I was snapping a photograph, he appeared -- I tried to get him into the photo, but he resisted -- so I've met your father and all I can say is, what a nice man! Thanks for sharing this video here and what a surprise! My wife and I love the town and wish we could live there!
Happy belated birthday Byron. The Star on the door had me recall the commercial jingle “You can trust your car to the man who wears the star, the big bright Texaco star." Dad took a picture of me at age 3 astraddle the radiator cap of his affectionately called "A Knocker" back in 55. Reckon Him daily driving a 31 model back in 55... was equivalent to me daily driving my old 50 Chevy pickup.
Lots of respect and admiration for your father. Him and his generation don't get nearly enough credit for how amazing they are/were. I wish him many years of good health and life. Thank you for sharing this!
Nice to see a good old American car that wasn't made in Asia.
People like that need to be noticed for something that original and clean
What a beautiful video Mr. Wingett, God bless your dad, you and that treasure!!
I can tell your father is a wise man by the way you talk to him, he raised you well. Congrats to both of you, what a great video.
I never had a dad growing up.it must be pretty cool hanging out with your dad and talking about old cars. two thumbs up!👍
Probably is, also growing up without a father, I'm slightly envious
I’m doing a frame off restoration of a late 1931 Model A wide bed pickup now. I’ve been working day and night and putting every spare minute and $$ into getting it done quick cause my wife’s grandfather wants to ride in it before he passes and his health isn’t good.
My wife works in a nursing home and I hope to give some of the residents rides in it around the parking lot when it’s finished.
These old beauties put so many smiles on peoples faces when they see one and that’s what I love the most!
The old folks at the home would love that, as would your father in law.
my mom is 91 this November. She used to play on an abandoned Model 'T' in a vacant lot near her house in 1935. I feel great appreciation for her and your dear Dad. Thanks for the really beautiful video. Lots of humour between you two. Cheers.
Gregory Mahaits as a kid they were all over the place a saying chicken in the car car won't go .yes.😎50$get u one .
G'day from Australia..This is a beautiful video , beaut truck , genuine kind and respectful people...I admire as a huge Ford enthusiast , bleed blue I think , people who respect and look after such wonderful things..I own two Ford Falcons , the Australian versions and especially poignant now that in a couple of months Ford Australia winds up production that has been going since 1925..Very sad..We are to have world Ford products now , not our uniquely Australian cars..so I hope to be the keeper of mine to look back on , just like this lovely Model A and proud owner...THANKS SO MUCH...Cheers Rod...
I love Aussie cars!
Your can tell he painted it the way he opened the hood .his pride shows !
God Bless your dad. It's good to see a father and son moment. Thanks for sharing this video. It made my day better.
Beautiful son-dad relation ..and an awesome car his dad owns
Five years down the track, I hope your pop is still around and able to enjoy his pride and joy.
My dad is 94. He can no longer drive and can barely walk using his walker or cane for very short distances. I am now the owner of this Model A. My dad wanted me to have it. I called him just today to ask some maintenance questions. Speaking of which, check back in a couple of days for a new video showing how I de-winterized the Model A a took it for the first drive in 2020!
Treasure every precious moment. I would give anything in the world for one more ride in the old truck to the trout lake with my dad. Towards the end I was fortunate enough to be his arms and legs but he was always my strength.
I could drive all day like this is this fine old Ford Truck. Thank you for sharing.
The low RPM four cylinder Ford engine reminds me of a 1st Gen Toyota Tacoma pickup with the 2.7 liter four-cylinder engine, with over-drive turned on. Your well preserved Ford pickup is a gem.
I love you guys...and that Ford, always wanted a green one. Your dad is awsome for letting us ride along.
I have a '29 Phaeton. It too is a speed machine -- zero to 60 in a single afternoon...
It must be very nice to be able to share this experience with your dad.
Your dad obviously is a true Model Aer!
Wow ! Beautiful truck ! Nice ride. I had a smile on my face the whole time watching this. Both for the truck and watching father and son having fun together and laughing. That made my day. Thanks for sharing, and all the best to you and your young dad !
What a way to bond with your old man. I hope you keep this machine running one day.
Beautiful car - just perfect. Amazing to think your Dad was already 6 when it was made. Really enjoyed his guided tour of the engine bay - a perfect introduction to the Model A.
Also says a lot about just how rapidly the world is advancing in technology
So awesome that your dad can still drive! Such a cool truck too! ❤️
Is greatest! My grandfather was owner of one model T. And is beautiful see a Older man, driving, with good health, and happy, with his family!! Greatest video! I will follow you!
Truck looks great also wonderful to see father and son love
Everything was awesome in this video. Awesome old school truck awesome old school dad.
What a beautiful old car. It's so great to see it driving rather than being in a museum and never driven in.
It has a wonderful engine sound that new cars don't have.
And the charm too. What a beauty.
I enjoyed listening to your dads explanation of the parts. He shifts it perfectly no grinding. I hope he had a great 92nd Birthday and hope he has many more Birthdays. I recently filmed a 1931 Ford Model A owned by Terry and Kathy OBryant at Black Bear car show in Chatsworth GA
Very cool...my dad worked at a Texaco station growing up and drove the truck for them...definitely on my list to purchase one day and paint mine green with the logo too...god bless your dad
very nice and well taken care of.
I'm in the south Puget Sound and I have a 1929 A, but mine isn't nearly so clean under the hood and I have no heater. With a plywood firewall, the heat from the engine keeps the cab plenty warm without a heater. I get the same smiles and waves whenever I take it out for a ride. Next year is my A's 90th birthday and my 70th. It started life as a truck for an Oakland beer company and ended up a farm truck in Folsom, CA. I acquired and restored it in1984 and I've been driving it ever since.
They remarkable vehicles and a joy to own and ride.
Occasionally I see a 2 door Model A convertible driving around my area. It had overlapping company logos on it and it was a Texaco company car as well.
Wow your dad could have seen these things brand new! Very cool
Beautiful truck in a beautiful place to live thanks dad for showing it!
what a beautiful pickup,we dont them around here anymore .bravo to keep her in such a great shape
What a wonderful piece of American history. Also, the warm and loving relationship you have with your Dad is beautiful.
What an awesome Truck. Why is the sound of that horn just makes you laugh!
Good question! I have no idea. Need to research this. Thanks for your comment!
God bless him. Hope he has many more years
The reference you made, "I think we'll make it before the store closes and made it back to Creekside village in under two hours. I guess goes to show just how much in a rush we are today as a society. It's ok to slow down, hit the brakes, figuratively. This is one of the nicest videos on youtube. Thank you for sharing.
Hermoso Ford modelo 31 ! y tambien muy bellas imagenes de su ciudad ! . Felicitaciones !
My dad had one when I was a kid it had a dickie seat such a nice sounding motor, I learnt to drive with this vehicle I just love it.
I took my Pop flying for his 83rd birthday. The tower gave warning on departure that the national guard was doing maneuvers with their C130s which we acknowledged. You could see them in the not so far distance. He flew in WWII and flew on many commercial flights over the years, but being up there with those birds had him thrilled. It was wonderful. Watching you and your dad riding in that automobile made me feel that all over again. Those are truly moments that you will cherish.
What a wonderful video. That is a great looking (and running) truck. Have a wonderful time riding in it with your Dad.
What a great Truck, runs a lot quieter than I expected
