Techno Rumble Kicks with Jomox ModBase 09

- Special thanks to Tom (Obscuremachines) for showing me how to make better techno kick drums. I used to just stick with the default settings, but Tom showed me how to use LFOs to make them sound even better. The Jomox ModBase 09 has extra features that really take the kicks up a notch.
What's your take? Are those new kicks punchy enough? Can you feel the difference?

Nice work ! 🎉
hell ya man sounds dope! appreciate the shout out too, and I have to give credit cause I learned from Benki and he learned from Riemann so we just keep passing the techno rumble torch around haha 🥳
now you gotta share some of your lead secrets with me 👽
@@ObscureMachines ehehe I’ll try my best 🔨🗽🖤
lol, the omnious "LFO Trick" already sounded familiar. Florian Meindl, the messiah of machines
Fking hell Richard, it sounds absolutely gritty, loving it mate!!!!!
i keep replaying this mix when i'm on the road.... i was forced to download it to mp3 today xD
This is awesome! Great sound.
❤❤❤super jam
just found your music a few weeks ago, been saving up for a modbase for a few months now (getting there!) and just found this vid of yours. big love from portland oregon, stoked to peep this deeper dive modbase vid on the lfo (unless it hasn't been made yet, lol).
my pleasure, best analog kick in my opinion 🖤
I too have the jomox, would love to are a full on tutorial showing how and what to effect, to improve the kicks. Nobody has done a deep on it that i can find
I’ll definitely make a video as soon as I master it
danke, hat sehr spaß gemacht zuzuhören! Klingt GEIL! Grüßeli aus Berlin o/
👾💥👊👏
Immer wieder ein Brett nach dem anderen, Danke dafür..😊
Oooooo 😍😍😍
Yes!!! 🔥🔥🔥
would love to hear more about the modbase tricks you mention in the description 🖤
Alright, I'll make a video about it soon :))
me too mate
@@richardeasel your using the internal LFO? interesting that it has one.
@@PanamaDog it has 2 XD
@@richardeasellooking forward ❤️🔥
Sounds great as always! I have "robbed" a bit of your setup! The 4tten is amazing for easy high pass/reverb breaks! Looking to get the fold as well later (was already in my list because of it's dual input). Looks like it would add some interesting grit to my kicks. Cheers!
Thanks! I kinda "robbed" this to somebody else so don't worry :D
Top👍👍
The kicks certainly sound a bit punchier! Are you able to provide more details on the LFO trick?
basically I increased the length of the kick and then applied an attenuated lfo to the pitch to make a sort of vibrato. Seems more people are interested in knowing this trick so I'll try to make a video asap
👍🔥

💃🕺🔥🔥🔥
Each one chooses to do some activities. How does each activity affect each of the eeach one other activities? Depending on how that problem is solved, it is what each one wins. What continues?
🤔
💯
Nice! Which modules for perc and rest of the drums?❤
Thanks. erica synth pico drum and cymbals
What is this 4 fader module you play with in the beginning of the video?
wmd 4tten
So how did you change the kick exactly? You use LFOs to modulate specific parameters on the kick module or you apply it, say, to the FM pitch envelope of the kick?
luckily the jomox mdbase has an internal LFO that by default is assigned to the pitch. Otherwise you need to send an attenuated lfo to it, but ideally you also need to restart the phase of the lfo when triggered wich is done automatically with the jomox
@@richardeasel Oh I see, I never thought to apply an LFO to the pitch, since the FM nature of kicks is already affecting it heavily.
black jack!
They sound punchy enough! Is all the sub in the rumble coming from the Jomox as well? I just got this module today, first thing i did was explore the internal LFO. Going through the menu on the module is such a pain in the ass tho
eheh I feel you. Mostly yes, but sometimes there's some low notes from the Loquelic, or sy0.5 mixed together with the kick. In general I felt less worried about adding a bassline. Enjoy your new module ;)
@@richardeasel thanks man, enjoying all the recordings you upload btw, they put me in the right techno mindset when i jam. DAW produced music, while sounding great, doesn't translate well into eurorack based music in my experience.
@@ZigusZagus I’m glad you like it 🙏
