Jeff: Colby, want some free chocolate?
Colby: No I want to get to the challenge.
Jeff: Okay, who's sitting out?
Colby: That would be me Jeff
WHAT 😂
He wanted to get to 2% body fat!
@kingofthorns203 too bad he ended up with 2% brainpower instead
I got the message brother, we'll start when I'm ready
Yes I caught that lol what a joke.
I always found it poetic how the show''s very first "hero" ended up being the last Heroes tribe member standing
It kinda shows how much the game has changed since Colby's time. Before someone like him was allowed (or won) there way to the end and was rewarded/loved. After All Star we had Ozzy a player who is so good challenges that aside from his first season, every time he was without immunity was targeted/blindsided. We've had a few others like that, such as Joe or Malcolm but Ozzy is the most direct comparison to me.
It showed a change in ideology in the game and Colby being the first of that archetype. His fall from the former challenge beast to turning into, someone barely surviving by the skin of his teeth by playing the social game without immunity but still having a chance to win. I think represents how Survivor evolved through the years in a single player.
Barely standing
And the one voted off right before him? Rupert! Probably the most popular hero.
@PhillipOnTakos makes you wonder if he deliberately performed badly in order to not be a threat, because when he cams back in All stars before this they took him out pretty quick.
The game is flawed though. Sandra winning twice proves that
Unpopular Opinion but I loved Colby this season for how unique of a perspective his whole return brought and how he was forced to play a much different game than the dominant physical game he used to - It's refreshing to see a what if for a player to have to completely change what their entire identity is about in another season once they can no longer rely on the successes of their past, and he still had a lot of that Colby likability he once had in spite of no longer having the challenge prowess.
One thing I really appreciate about Colby this season is that the type of game he had to play gave him a much greater appreciation for under-the-radar social players like Sandra. This is one of the main reasons that Colby voted for Sandra to win--he realized that her game was much harder than he originally thought, which is a huge change from his attitude toward Shii Ann in All Stars.
@@TEGRIDY_FARMS You don't seem to understand how Survivor works. The juror gets to decide who to vote for. It's the job of the finalist to convince the juror to vote for them. Parvati and Russell failed where Sandra succeeded.
First Jerri, then Rich, now Sugar. It's Colby's fate to receive unwanted flirtation. Poor Hershey Bar...
Colby out lasted Cirie, Tom, Boston “Bob”, Coach, Courtney, JT, and Amanda….and he didn’t even want to be there. i wish i could get that type of luck
So under the radar that he looped backwards into becoming the main threat to win
Earned that luck by not quitting, looking at you season 45!
@@Jkru12 this new era casting clearly cares more about who has the best story rather than who really wants to play. for me….you ain’t getting no sob story from me. i don’t want America to know about my struggles. i just want to play the game.
@@Jkru12Well, it was only two quits. The rest of the new era never had any quit so I don't know if you can empower anyone.
Despite this version of Superman being very much The Quest for Peace (or worse, the Bryan Singer version) Colby's performance still isn't something to sneeze it. He survived being on the wrong side of the numbers through the pre-merge and close to the end of the post-merge, while also making amends with Jerri (which I really wish was shown more). Given the larger than life personalities in this season (the height of Russell-mania) and the infamous Survivor editing process, it's no wonder he came off as convoluted this time around.
Superman Returns is awesome though
Colby: I was watching treasure island
Bottom 3rd: Hero
The chickens at the Heroes’ camp are descendants of the one Shambo released. They have her to thank.
Colby reminds me of myself. At early 30's I just broke down physically. I can barely use my shoulders at 38. I think he did what he could. Its very demoralizing when ur body just fails you. I get being a sour bear about it. Its not fun, bt you got to just take life as it is. Learning to enjoy being in the place u are is difficult. I think he learned it thou. Its taken me yrs
That's the same boat I'm in. I was always healthy growing up, but a switch flipped around 29 when I started getting hit with health issues like crazy. Acid reflux screwed my esophagus, which led to tooth corrosion, which led to dental surgeries. I have a lingering issue with one of my feet, I'm more prone to muscle issues, high BP, maintaining my weight is harder, my former roommates smoking led to severe sinsinitis that I battle to this day, I'm a lot more vulnerable to cold weather, and I'm already graying. It's like my body gave up on me.
So I've spent a lot of the last year just trying to come to terms with it all and make the best of what I have. People not in our position think I'm lazy or unmotivated because I'm not chasing big life goals, but no, I'm just trying to truly appreciate my life and not stress like I used to and put myself in the grave faster.
It was always so weird how he underperformed this season, but also so hilarious how far he got in spite of it!
The man's still a legend.
Colby must have turned down the free chocolate because he associates all chocolate with “Hershey bars” now.
when hair lip and amanda were fighting and colby just chillan, lol soooo priceless
The way he smirks when he says he is just watching Treasure Island is amazing.
This sadly wasn't the beast Colby I knew and loved to watch, but I still found myself enjoying him. Amongst all the major strategists and others acting like idiots, Colby had a nice down-to-earth approach to things. He was humble, kind, and told it how it was. I don't think it was that he didn't care, it was that he was tired playing now in his mid thirties compared to his late twenties. Even still, he played the game quite well at times, and earned his spot as last hero standing in final 5.
18:49 we find out why Colby didn’t settle for chocolate bits. my man wanted the whole cake! 😂
The TITLE, is perfect. ❤
For the record, I think Colby was a virtual lock to win if he gets to the end. He gets all four Heroes, and he's very likely to get at least one of Coach, Jerri, Sandra, Courtney, Parvati or Danielle depending on who else was at Final Tribal Council with him.
Imagine how full circle everything would’ve been had Colby made the final three and Jerri ended up voting for him to win
Colby was absolutely not at 4% body fat. I cannot believe he claimed this
He played a great game in Australian Outback & then he failed so upward in HvV it was actually hilarious.
I forgot Colby got owned by Coach, a fate so embarrassing my young mind couldn't process it at the time, yet here we are...
To be fair Tyson said that Coach got in better shape in preparation for this season, and he was the only villain that managed to knock his opponent out of the sumo ring (even if it was nullified for his karate chop)
He still outlasted Coach regardless, which is the main point of the game no?
All Colby wanted to do was watch Treasure Island 😅
And Colby says it with a smirk on his face 🤣
@@OnceUponAnIsland 😂😂😂
It’s amazing how the last “hero” to be voted out was Colby and the last “villain” was Jerri. If either had made it to the finals they would’ve won.
Colby was perfect for this season. In all-stars we were angry so many good players were booted so early. Colby included. Now however, we have the chance to see WHY they were booted so early. This was when legends fell and we accepted it.
I get why they were eliminated early, but it really hurt All Stars when the actual All Stars (Rich, Tina, Colby, Jerri, Rob C., Rudy, Sue) were eliminated early (or justifiably quit in Sue’s case)
The final 4 villains getting character episodes should be good! Thanks for this great series!
I like how they try to help Russell like why do u think he was on the villains tribe ??
I like to believe the chickens they find are the same ones Shambo set free in Samoa.
Colby, Captain America/Superman/The Comp Beast, getting owned by a person who calls themselves The Dragon Slayer is just the funniest thing ever. Coach should’ve changed his name to The Superman Killer
Wasn’t it revealed that Colby was checked out in All Stars as well and had to be talked out of quitting? I think Colby just felt that he didn’t need Survivor anymore because he had already made his money/fame after TAO
I believe that was in a secret scene on AO. But he seemed to try a lot harder there than he does in this season.
Jerri: Hey Colby~
Colby: Hi Jerri.
I was a gate agent at LAX and Colby came up to me and said "hey buddy got any first class seats?" Me 'Yeah it's wide open." Colby "cool." Me "I can't cash at the gate only credit card." 'What?" "Well it's an $800 difference in fare." As he turned to walk away he mumbled "F U." "Have a nice flight." All I could see was his arrogance after that. True story.
I hope you can do Abi Maria. Great video btw.
I believe Colby played a much more social game, and pivoted after that first challenge vs Coach. He tried to fly under the radar. When his neck was on the line after James he turned it on and the Heroes didn’t lose another immunity. At the merge after the heroes lost their numbers, he flew under the radar again. Until final 5 when he suddenly came out fighting vs Parvati. My guess is he was sand bagging knowing the villains would vote out the bigger threats and thinking it’s easier to win 2 in a row than more. But maybe I’m just giving my favorite character and player too much credit. Final hero was fitting fate for one of the greats.
Every time I watch these h v vill recaps the complete lack of game play from the heroes is ridiculous
I also forgot Sugar snuggling up to Colby and him not being into it. Wow. No one would have thought to stand up for him at the time. Now, I feel his discomfort and acknowledge that if the sexes were reversed, this would likely be taken much more seriously, especially nowadays. It's something to reflect on.
It was really surprising to see how much has Colby changed during the ten year period between S2 and S20.
And I understand the arguments that he got older etc, but as said in the video, 35 really isn’t that old, and at this age the ten years really shouldn’t cause that much difference… especially when he had a god-like strenght just a decade earlier.
Hear me out…
There were defiantly challenges Colby sucked at and he was grumpy at points but he played a layedback strategic game and wasn’t terrible at all the challenges
I love Jerri outlasted him 2x now.
I really wonder how his edit would’ve looked if he had won. Rather than appearing apathetic would they have made him a comeback story?
Sometimes I forget this Colby is the same as s2 Colby.
Colby did a lot better than what could've happened. I don't understand at least from my POV why he & Candice didn't try to align together. since both were alone as we saw in their conversation at beginning 2 is better than 1. he did connect with Tom & Stephenie from Palau but that wasn't enough. he escaped getting voted out at least 3 times before the merge before a nice reunion to end his trilogy with Ogakor original tribemate in the Australian Outback Jerri Manthey...
James was on the wrong side.
Where can I find your patreon?
Link is in the description!
Is the going to be a returnee season in season 50? And is Colby going to be in it?
I don't work for CBS
Why is James such a jerk this season
Nicotine is a helluva drug.
Drugs.
35 is the age that you really start noticing the decline ok! 😭
I dont know why people find it funny that Colby lost to Coach. Coach was really strong this season. I think Colby learned from his mistakes at All Stars, he was too blunt and too controlling. People hated him and this season he choose to be under the radar but the problem is he is too passive. I also think he did pretty well at challenges. He wasnt the best, but he wasnt bad either.
He nearly won
He’s like Kawhi Leonard lmao
What does it mean when at times both SMART and DUMB appear at the same time?
That the strategic move/moment are both good and bad for his game.
Yeah, Colby was not 4% body fat lol. Not even all pro bodybuilders get that low on stage.
Was never a fan of Colby🤢
Disliked how he treated Jerri👑 in Outback (especially when he threw water on her)
Disliked his attitude toward Shii-Ann👑 in All Stars
Hated his apathy in HvV, especially when Amanda👑 needed his support against Danielle👑
Colby Sucks
