Forsooth. For me, however, it's the change in Heavy's facial expressions upon the being found out that really takes the cake.
I was too busy laughing at Heavy's change of expression and his face.. to realize soldier's was pretty funny as well. xD
I exclusively use the motion editor. The only time I ever used the graph editor, it was to realing a camera whose roll I had mistakenly messed up. The official Source Filmmaker tutorials are I believe essential at getting started, but after that I just tinkered around. Experiment and make mistakes, that's how you learn! If you have any specific question though, I'll gladly answer it.

YES! Thanks, I forgot to mention how much of an awesome and easy tu use program that is. Valve are great. If it wasn't for the fact that they don't support Nintendo, I'd say they're just about perfect ;P

Loving the animation and humor in this. It starts off a bit like Meet the Heavy but the rapid cartoony movements are funny along with some random actions being done. Fits Christmas or any time of year perfectly along with some very good animation.

All joking aside, I thought I might share some of my experience at some point, in the form of tutorials. I'd need a good blogging site or the like for that though, and I'm not too familiar with that. But yeah, that's something I'd like to do.

They are both included in the SFM. The soldier's saliva is "env_rain_guttersplash" in "water.pcf", and the smoke the heavy produces as he storms off is "doublejump_smoke" in "rocketjumptrail.pcf".
To be fair, Scout vs Witch wasn't animated in the SFM, only rendered with it, and parts of it was shot in Left 4 Dead. Plus, the guy is a real animator, comparing him to me is very unfair. That said, Scout vs Witch is a mindblowingly good video, to that I can agree.
Simply select the character's animation set, place the playhead on the frame you want to freeze him at, select everything on the timeline after said frame in the motion editor, and apply the "playhead" procedural filter all the way.

Wow. And then 10 years later you became one of, if not the best SFM animators ever. You really have come a long way! I don't care how long the next SFM takes, if it means having greatness like the last animation then so be it!
Ooh, much more than that! I'd say 2 or 3 days' worth of free time! A professional animator could do that in an hour or two, but I'm no animator. I also don't really plan ahead much. I didn't know yet what would be in the gift as I finished animating the first part. Plus, I have a certain attention to detail, like the Soldier's helmet waving around realistically.

I am making more. It's taking a while as I've started a pretty big project, but it's slowly nearing the end. I can now tell that the video is going to last more than 10 minutes!

Ikr, BEST FILM MAKING PROGRAM EVER. What I like about Valve is Source film maker, the graphics and animations, the story(I'm always amazed by Valve's stories), easter eggs, humor, and the fact that it doesn't have a community like Call Of Duty(Which is one of the reasons I quit CoD) :P

The funny thing is, I'm a translator. Animation's a newfound hobby of mine, and I have next to no experience in the field, besides them two videos. I'm an action movie enthusiast though, and a keen sense of observation is I guess a strength of mine.
