Is it weird that I miss walking through the I95? Ha!
You’re not the only one!
It looks like the perfect place to use a skateboard or razor scooter
Elysia Perez yes I have a razor ribstick and it looks perfect to ride it on the hallways
I hope you get back on board Chris! We miss your videos!
Some days I miss it. But I also like going home at night. I miss back deck more
My wife and I travel almost exclusively on Royal Carribean. We’ve been on 8 cruises total, 7 with RC.
Just want to say, the CREW does a fantastic job. I know you all work VERY hard and VERY long hours.
You are the reason why we sail with RC.
I cannot believe how empty the I95 is. Even at night I have never seen it so quiet.
I am loving your videos and cannot wait to return to ships. I really miss it.
I think its amazing that you are making good out of a bad situation by doing youtube! Keep it up. I love it!
"blow off steam without guests around" punching bag is pretty worn out...LOL

Great tour! I’ve done the “behind the scenes excursion tour” on many cruise ships and we’ve visited the engine control rooms. For a technology nerd like me it was heaven!
On very recent ships, the engine control room is fully computerized and even has a full video wall for all the sensors and whatever the engineers want to see on it.
That computer is called the “DCS” or distributes control system that can handle hundreds of thousands inputs and outputs.
The display is called “HMI” or human machine interface and is designed by engineers. The screens are cascaded by priority even though you can access everything from a single screen. I’m sure every ship’s is custom with minor revisions to systems made over the years.
@@peterg.8245 Thanks! Great info.
Loved the Vlog Riley. It was fun to see the “behind the scenes” of your whole editing and creative process. Nice to have you home!
James Tench I thought you would have him home by now ,did he decide to stay
Bet mums a bit cross 👍👍
David Barnsley He’s home. When I said “it was fun to see the behind the scenes” of his creation process I literally meant it. Got to see how he edits and puts everything together in Adobe Premier... How UA-cam Studio works, all that stuff. I know he already had this video in the works before leaving the ship, so once it got back to Alaska it was just a matter of doing all the editing. It’s nice to have him home for a bit!
James Tench well that is very good news
I just watched another video saying a German cruise company has just started up again and it looked very possible
So he may be back at work if he wants to I suppose maybe some time next year
Bet mum was happy to see him 😍😍👍👍

I done the " behind the scenes " tour with my son on the independent of the sea about 8 years ago and its amazing. We went below water line , engine control room ( no filming) ,staff shop, bars, kitchens then end up on the bridge with the captain 👍👍
Of course we got to the end, and we wish for more and more! Thank you so much 😊 for doing this for us and not getting into trouble.
Enjoyed the behind the scene tour; quite impressive to see those long passageways running the length of the ship. We now know how the crew moves quickly from one end to the other without skipping a beat. Thank you and continue the VLOG journey.👍🏼
Nice to see you're home and safe and have time to do your editing!
I think it’s really cool how they convert waste into power for the ship!
Me too Ashleigh. The whole operation of recycling and waste management is pretty impressive. Royal Caribbean has a program called Save the Waves which explains a lot more about their environmental efforts, if you’re interested:
www.rclcorporate.com/environment/
That was exactly my "wow" moment too What a cool concept! And thanks for sharing the link about "Save the Waves", Riley! Awesome stuff. :)
@@RileyTench It's basically how garbage is managed in some European countries.
Although I suspect that you guys on the ship where a bit more disciplined about it all...
While we of course *try* to recycle and stuff sometimes you just end up with screwing up a bit anyway, having too much to deal with in life or whatever...
But yeah, most of that non-recycled garbage in my home city is burned.
And over in Sweden they're even importing garbage from here in Norway because they're too good at recycling to fill their own garbage burning plants (while we're doing a worse job here).

So glad I had a chance to work on RCCL, HAL, NCL & Disney over the years. All those areas are so familiar like an old friend. Wish I'd have had you on NV or SC but I feel like I may never get to work on a ship, or even cruise as a guest, in the future again. Thanks for sharing with everyone else what we know so intimately.
Appreciate the kind words Nathan. Try to stay positive. We’ll be out there again some day... Patience and time, but we will be back.
@@RileyTench I love to cruise, I am counting the days before I can start giving you guys my money again!
Glad to see you made it home okay and still have some videos to upload!
Thanks Drew. More to come...
So cool to see all of this. Thank you so much! Seems like RC really cares about their crew members. We hope that we get the opportunity to sail with you again! And THANK YOU for keeping your videos clean/classy; so rare.
Thank you very much. Glad you are enjoying my videos.
I did a behind the scene ship tour on NCL a while back, including the bridge , theater, galleys laundry and engineering. It's amazing how much of the ship is actually unseen by the guests
Cool to see the behind the scenes. Thanks, Riley! Hope you're okay now that you're home.
Thanks Suzanne. I’m doing well, and so is Cass.
Thank you for this!! I have always wanted to take a tour of the behind the scenes on a cruise. I have done the tours where they take guests through the kitchens, but mostly for the bottomless mimosas. While watching you go through the different floors, I was reminded of a haunted house my husband and I went through years ago (maybe 2013) on the Oasis. I have no idea where we went but that was pretty cool. Hope you are doing well.
Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks... doing well, and Cass is too.
That was a lot more comprehensive and a hell of a lot cheaper than the galley tours you can pay for onboard! Thanks, mucker!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Welcome back ! Always enjoy your content. Look forward to seeing more
Thanks. More to come!
Awesome tour. Hope the ships can sail again soon so I can finally cruise!
Thanks Guy... You and me both!
Thanks for the tour! Been on Oasis and have always wondered about the “inner sanctum” of the ship. So many moving parts yet you guys make it look easy and flawless. Safe travels wherever life takes you Riley.
Really enjoyed this tour. Crew members work so hard and it’s nice to see they have places to socialize and meet up with coworkers. Looking forward to your video about your travel home to AK.
This is an awesome video. Would love to see more of this type. Hope you're doing well and it's good to hear from you again.
Thanks Reid. Very glad you enjoyed it. Cass and I are both doing well, and I’ve already got come new videos in the works... Stay tuned!
Loved the video, good to see the ship from your perspective !
Fascinating! What a great vlog, thank you. The crew area was actually much nicer than I expected, so well done Royal Caribbean for looking after their amazing crew so well ❤️
Loved it! Thank you! Keep 'em coming.
Wondered how your travels went. Hope to see where you are now - pretty soon.
Glad you enjoyed it... and yes, I’ve got more Vlogs in the works.
Thanks for this, but you’ve made my heart hurt, too! I truly miss Quantum, my favourite ship. We (my band Horizon) took her out of the shipyard in Germany and over to America, and then the Caribbean for her first operational season-shortly after that, she went to Asia. What a beautiful lady she is ❤️
Glad you enjoyed the video Glen. We will get back to some sort of normal eventually. Stay safe and well.
Always love the behind-the-scenes tours. Thanks for sharing.
THIS DAY HAS FINALLY COME
Thanks again Riley, for the interesting tour. I had never really considered going on a cruise until I started watching your videos. And when things return to normal (which they will) probably will take a cruise on Royal Caribbean . And thanks to Royal Caribbean for letting you do these. He's a GREAT representative for your company. (just in case the boss is watching!)
Here is a tip for you: You can order food from the tv in your room and they take it to your room. I love it! Food in bed.
@@fluffyrambochiqui1836 Way to easy to get fat that way...but you had that fancy gym and pool all to yourself. Hope all is well!
The way a company treats its employees is crucial to the way it treats its customers. Quite impressed at the way RC treats its employees.
I have wanted to work on a cruise ship for over 20 years. This was a great glimpse into what I missed. Maybe someday.
Thanks for your videos Riley, really good to see how your all coping with Covid19 on the Cruise Ships and I see that you finally got home. Great news for you and your family
Girlfriend privilege: Watch the videos before they go live even if I’m like 6,640 miles away and the first to comment! 😘🙊😛
Cassandra Tuan your his 1st mate
Thats a good privilege. And you are awesome! Hope you and your family are doing well. Take care you two are awesome.
Glad you both seem to have made it back to your "homes" safe and sound. Can't wait for the reunion video!
Hope you guys get to see each other again soon!
Thanks Daniel. That’s a video I can’t wait to make!!! 😁
What a great tour of these areas. You do such a good job of showing AND explaining things when you do your video. I hope HR is using you for the training opportunities. You would be perfect for this as well. Thanks for keeping us regular cruisers up to date!
i miss this ship so freaking much! so happy that you made it home safely! i love your rccl crew vlogs!
Thanks Annabelle
once again Riley a great presentation tour of BEHIND THE SCENES. Love being able to view it. I am a Hotel General Manager so this was most interesting tour.. Thank you!
Thanks much for the entertaining and informative crew tour Riley!
Boy this was a great tour behind the scenes and Thanks for tour.
The broadcast room! 🥺🥺 Rafael is still there! must get lonely for him without his techs. I was waiting for you to show a crew cabin but then remembered you're probs not allowed to do that. Also, had so much fun in that crew mess! 🥺 haha we had steamed buns every day :D great video Riley
Look at his older videos, he shows them.
Happy Tuesday Riley!!!
That was really cool to watch. Especially because you didn't have traffic to get in the way for your video.
Hope to see a getting home story soon.
Thanks. It certainly was a unique time to be on board filming this.
Great video! That is the most behind the scenes tour I have ever seen on UA-cam 😊
Thanks!
Bloody great Vid Riley, thanks so much for showing us around.
What a great behind the scenes tour. Thanks for sharing!
Amazing job giving us those detals of the ship. I work for the sales team for the UK and I had never seen all of those features the ship. Awesome informativo Riley. Thank You so much. You rock!!!
Well done Riley! Blessings to you and Cass!
Thanks Jeff.
I love Royal Caribbean cruise 🎉🥰 my husband and I just went on our first cruise last week out of Galveston Texas it was amazing and the crew is amazing 💯 you guys do a lot thank you 😊 I'm happy Royal Caribbean takes care of you well🙏👍
A great comprehensive video! Nicely done Riley 😄
Glad you liked it Leta. Thank you.
Thank you for posting this I was on this ship in Dec 2019 right before the pandemic, so awesome to see your tour! Beautiful amazing ship!
Thanks for the tour. The first thing we do when we get on a ship we go booked the behind the scene tour. My husband loves going to the bridge.
You’re welcome Debra. Glad you enjoyed it.
There’s a behind the scenes tour!? Why didn’t I know this!?
Some cruise lines do a behind the scenes tours and they are definitely worth the money.
Been waiting for any video. HaHa. Glad you're home stay safe. Looking forward to more video's.
Thanks Sharon. Hope you enjoyed it, and I do have more in the works.
Great video thanks Riley! Of the 15 or so ships that we have cruised on Quantum was one of our favourites and it was interesting to see the passenger non go areas.
Riley your Vlogs have been so inspiring during lockdown you are a true inspiration. Please don’t stop what are you doing now have Royal Caribbean employed you as the “face of”
Great video! The best crew area tour I've seen so far. Please do more!
Thanks Steve. That means a lot to me.
Hey bro hope you are well and your weekend went well. Just thought we would pop over again and see what you have been up to lately. Wow that is so spooky seeing it all empty. Totally eerie and mad bro. Thanks so much for sharing this experience with us. Hope to cruise again soon. Stay safe and catch up again real soon God bless you bro 🙏👍👍❤️
Awesome vlog! Brought back a ton of memories of when I used to work on cruise ships (although it was a much smaller ship than this one).
The UA-cam algorithm finally suggested you to me. So excited to watch your backlog. Wish you the best!
16:04 - "definitely under tight lock & key"........ cue the shot of the plastic chain over the door... LOL! And those scratch marks of many an employee, tryin' to get in for tha' sauce! haha!!
Your making me miss royal so much! I can’t believe how quite the I-95 is! Dreaming for the day to go back!
Thanks Riley for a great video! You are a great representative for RCCL and one of the reasons I can't wait to cruise again. How about some hometown videos? Be well.
Thank you very much Brian. Hope we can all be cruising again some day.
This was awesome. Glad to hear from you again. Hope you are doing well. We would love to see how your travels home went.
Thanks Cassie. Glad you liked the video, and my travel home is the video project I’m working on now. Stay tuned!
Very interesting! I like your editing style and humor.
Thanks Robyn... glad you enjoyed it.
I was in Quantum of the Seas in 2018. Fantastic cruise ship! Can't wait to go back to cruising! 😁
Love your videos! If I could go back to my younger days, I’d be a crew member!! Love it!
Thanks Lizzy.
Thank you for posting this! It’s really interesting to go behind the scenes.
Love your vid. Great insight into cruise life and yours .Stay safe 😊
Thanks Kirsty.
Great video, and glad to see you back! Please do one on what life is like back on land and your future while you await to sail again.
Thanks Chuck... Trying to figure land life out at the moment, but I do have some plans for new videos.
You have held it so together...thank you for sharing you day to day with us all
Hi Riley! I enjoy watching your great videos! Stay safe can’t wait to watch your upcoming videos as well!!
This brought back a lot of memories for me when I worked on Carnival a few years ago. I was staff so I had my own cabin. It was kind of fun but I wanted a different position, so I might go back when things get back to normal. Great vlog!
I work shoreside for RC and it is fascinating to see how our colleagues do their jobs onboard. I can't wait to be dealing with normal issues instead of COVID issues all day.
Thanks Adam. I second the getting back to normal issues!
Very cool! Thoroughly enjoyed the tour!
Awesome, David... thank you!
That was a fun video! I’ve done and given tours of SY and NV (I’m shoreside), but haven’t gotten to a Quantum class yet. Definitely bookmarking this for any new hires who didn’t get to do tours this year. Hopefully we’ll be able to start back up safely, slowly soon!
Some things for the crew are much better and convenient than we had in 2004 on Legend of the seas... Hope all these crew areas will be live again as soon as possible.
Wow Riley! Excellent job. I loved the tour. I hope you are home safe by now. Take care
Thanks Paul. Glad you enjoyed it! I have made it home safely to Alaska.
(Can't believe I'm gonna say this but...)I kinda miss the ships so even though I already know how it looks like, I watched the whole video❤️ Great job!
Thanks Sasha. It does feel weird (and a little sad) not being on board now.
I was wondering "You're still on the ship?!" Thankyou for doing this tour for us when you were probably busy with packing and organising your travel...at 5am in the morning!! You must have been sad to be leaving but you are always so positive...even at 5am in the morning ;-) I wonder if lockdown exists in your hometowns - here in Melbourne, Australia we went into our most severe stage 4 lockdown just days ago. We aren't allowed to move more than 5km from home etc (unless you're deemed an essential worker)
Hi Ben. I had heard things were getting bad in Melbourne again. Hope you are doing well and staying safe. Actually, I just recently made it back to Alaska. This Vlog was the last big filming project I did while on board. So many people had asked to see more of the crew areas, and I wanted to go ahead and get this posted. Now I’m working on a video about my journey home, and then we will see what’s next.
@@RileyTench Keep on Vlogging - your posts were a spot of sunshine during this crazy year of 2020. Any topic will do - and yes, let's see about your trip home. But keep up Vlogging about life for you in general or even about important topics you wish to discuss or share - or even life in Alaska during 2020. Stay connected. Peace
Been waiting the whole of lockdown on this one, yaaaaaas !!
keep it up man, the video's are great!
Thanks. Glad I could finally get it made!
This was fascinating to see - thanks so much for sharing this with us - I've always wondered what does on behind the 'crew only' doors!
This was absolutely fascinating! I’m so glad watching this now in Aug 2022 that everything is, basically back to normal for this empty ship
Thanks for the tour. I miss taking cruises.
You’re welcome Joe. Me too! 🙂
Thanks Riley. Never cruised so was interesting seeing the crew quarters.
Hey man, keep positive, great to see companies are supporting crew, I’m a deck cadet with an offshore company, I was lucky enough to make it home due to injury just before the global lockdown, but been stuck at home so yer, would much rather be on the ship smashing my daily routine and work life on the bridge. Cheers for the content, god speed and safe sailing, peace
Thanks for this video! I am a frequent cruiser and anxiously waiting for cruising to resume in America. When cruising does resume, we will be back!
Awesome tour !!! Felt like a behind the scenes tour only better !!
Thanks Gary. Tried to make it feel as personal as possible. Glad you enjoyed it.
Hey Riley, if you get bored, I bet a bunch of us would love to see what life is like in Alaska. I'd be Interested in seeing the town you live in, the school you went to, and if you ever get up to Fairbanks, a tour of the city. And it would be super-cool to see what like is like now in summer, and then in winter, but I sure hope you're back on a ship before then!
Hi Michael. I hope to be back on a ship soon too, but I am working on some plans for Alaska content. Stay tuned!
Great video. As a fan of cruising I always wanted to see what crew areas were like.
wow love this video. I really missed I95, Crewmess, gym, bar, gaming, deck 7 especially the whole ship of quantum ots. 😍♥️
Hope I can go back again there!
I know exactly how you feel... Hang in there. We will be back out there some day!
Some of the happiest times of my life, working and living onboard this beautiful ship.
Loved your video. I worked on the SS Norway in the mid '80s, and granted it was a long time ago, I'm still amazed at the difference in the crew areas. Our "I-95" was on B deck (Biscayne Deck) on the starboard side and was nicknamed Slime Alley. In your vid, when you knelt down to show I-95, my first reaction was, that would never happen on Slime Alley. It was nasty. Port side of B deck was all conehead cabins. The Norway was an old ship then as she was originally the SS France that was built in the early '60s. Times and ships have changed, but working on board a cruise ship is still an amazing experience. Smooth seas.
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. I love hearing about how other ships compare, and the way things have changed. Hope you stay well and safe out there.
Thank you for a great tour. A little different than on my old ships (Song of America, Sun Viking and Nordic Prince) I have been a passenger on several of the newest ship. Not the Harmony class yet. So I have visited the crew area on your ship and it is just huge!
Just discovered your blog... Love your channel! Awesome hosting and tour!
so sad seeing the cruise ship like that...
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great behind the scenes tour!!!
Thanks Roberto.
Great job. I have never been on a ship. Am amazed at the length of the hallway!!
Great video, thanks Riley.
I've seen a zillion deck layout pictures on the interwebs but never the crew only decks. Do you think you could do a slow pan on some of those for us so we can see the detail?
This was awesome! Gives a totally new perspective to cruising. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Armand. Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you Riley. Very interesting and enjoyable. Stay safe and more videos please!!
Thanks David. More videos in the works. Stay safe and well.
Being a sorta retired audio guy, I find this really cool! Thanks for the inside look. Hope you’re doing well!
Thanks Michael, I am doing well... Glad you enjoyed the video!
I have no idea how this got into my feed, but this was seriously fascinating! Thanks for doing this!
Thank you for this video! It is like a glimpse of my dream job on board. Aspiring seafarer here 😊
