I have to say I'm glade u didn't record the goodbye. It made it a you and her. And not a you and her and us. Much more personal as it should b.
Thanks. We felt that way too.
I completely agree. That's personal and private. But the "reenactment" was a fun touch.
But how did you have a beard again for the reenactment?
Hey Riley. I'm totally blind and have very much enjoyed listening to your videos. What a wonderful and honest tour of a completely different life you've provided. Thanks for keeping the sound of the places and ship areas you were in present in the recordings and leaving a little space to get a sense of that. I'd be very interested to know what comes next for you. I hope the work experience you've gained on the ship will help you land on your feet in what must seem a very different home country. The very best of luck to you.
It is so refreshing to see someone on UA-cam who's travelling for 1) an actually valid reason and 2) taking it all seriously. So many people pulling down masks to talk to the camera, ignoring distancing etc. Really good that you and your family planned it out so you can quarantine when back too. Really good to see, excellent vid.
99.9% of people survive...
I'm impressed with all your caution and thoughtfulness/respect regarding protecting others and yourself from Covid. Great video and I'm happy you are home safe!
Thanks Alice. I’m sure I didn’t do things perfectly, but I do believe every little effort we make helps.
Riley' what a great journey. You should definitely be a spokes person for Royal Caribbean!!
Agreed!
Flash backs of Hong Kong. I spent 20 years in the US Navy and Hong Kong was my first foreign port visit back in 1994. Lot of great memories there and one of my favorite spot in the world to go to. Thank for the footage and glad you got to go home. My family saw your Ship tour 2 days ago and we binged watched your channel the last few day. Keep up the great work.
Riley you have considerable talent for editing, composition, content, and time management that keeps all these elements dynamic. Cue in the music too just at the right moments. I hope you keep at it during this crazy adventure. Best of luck going forward and keep us posted!
Your home is in such a beautiful location - we need another video and an update :)
Wow you guys are fast... Guess Dad will have to settle for seventh comment 🙂 Love the Vlog Riley!
Dad you must be faster! The internet has come to love your son! We cruise a lot to see his videos over the last 5 months have be amazing, his attitude and personality is awesome! Great son you raised!
Steve D LOL... Yes, I’ve come to realize that. Thanks for the kind words. Riley’s mom and I couldn’t be more proud of him, and how he handled this whole crazy year.
@@jamestench so how does it feel to have your baby boy home? so many of us have wished him well on his journeys. ps i wanna see a photo of him and sophie...lol
Sheri Kennedy It has been great having him home Sheri. It has been a long time since we have had this much time together. His mom and I were planning a trip to visit him and Cass on Quantum back in early March, but 2020 obviously had different plans in store. I will eventually posted some more Sophie pics., but here is at least one of when she first greeted Riley:

We have never seen her so happy!
James Tench proud papa!
Whatever I learned from your series of videos about you made me more happy than other stuffs on video. It is Avery proud moment to say , “ you are genuinely a good person.” Everyone around you must be a happy, caring and compassionate persons. Kindness, gratefulness in any situation with humility ! I am so glad to know someone out there is such a gentleman. Thanks ! Remind me the movie cast away ( Tom Hanks )
Welcome home! Can’t imagine how such an experience can change you, but your approach and commitment to capturing it for the rest of us tells me you used it constructively.
Friends from Hong Kong! Glad you are able to finally sign off at Hong Kong and return home!! Such a crazy experience
Thanks Jason
The call to Cass was gold! You know we would’ve missed that chapter in your love story❤️ seeing Alaska was awesome! Its so beautiful. Glad your home safe and hope to see more soon.
😂 Thanks Stacey. I knew I had to do something to fill in the gap, so Cass and I got creative. I’ve got some new videos in the works about life up here in Alaska, so stay tuned for new adventures.
When he said "I'm confident I will not catch it as a result of coming through this airport, but we'll see what it looks like in the US" I just took a deep breath, preparing myself for what was going to come. lol. I haven't even continued watching the video yet from that point, but I have a feeling I know what it's going to look like.
LOL... It will be OK. I promise you can keep watching 🙂
When this is all over we need a gofundme so you can see her again!!!
"Our transportation industry is really not set up to handle a situation like this." Very relatable, at my job we can only put 5 people (plus driver) in a 25 passenger bus. Super inefficient way to do it but hey you gotta do what you gotta do.
So glad you are respecting your family and doing you best to keep them safe!
Thanks Bob.
Thank you for quarantining and going thru the trouble of climbing through your window. I appreciate the precaution. Ty
So happy you are home Riley! My husband and I were lucky enough to take an Alaskan cruise last Fall and we absolutely fell in love with it and wouldn’t mind owning a home there. I hope you continue to give us some Alaska content. I’m definitely going to be watching! Stay safe and and enjoy being home with your family!
Thank you Andrea. Glad to hear you enjoyed Alaska so much. Ironically, an Alaskan cruise is still something I have to try some day 😂 I have some new videos already in the works about Alaska, so stay tuned!
So glad you made it home safe and sound! We've truly enjoyed your videos and have been anxiously waiting for this one since July. Now go enjoy your time with your family!
Thanks Bob. I’ve poured a lot of myself into these videos, so that means a lot to me. Really glad to hear you have enjoyed them.
Thank you for sharing your journey. Happy you made it home safely. So nice to see how the cruise line took such good care of the crew. You’re awesome for taking the virus seriously and taking measures to protect your family once home and fellow crew while you were onboard. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos now that you’re back on board for the cruises to nowhere⛴🥂
Hey Riley, I've watched quite a few of your videos over the last few months. Good Stuff bro. I even showed my mom one of them because she is also in the cruise industry and she's at sea now. So all this is personal for me too. She actually tried to convince me right before 2020 to take a job that's pretty much the same as yours on her ship, but that obviously didn't age well. Glad to see you made it home safe, and I have faith you and Cassandra will see each other again. I hope the vlogs aren't done now that you're off the ship.
I am legitimately happy you made it home. The Mrs and I have been following you vlogs since the first one and we got excited every time a new one came out. We wish Cass and you the best and welcome back home!
So happy for you and your family that you are back in the USA. I have been following your vlogs and want to thank you for sharing with us your unique perspective during this pandemic. Welcome home!!
Thanks Peggy... It has certainly been a crazy year, but Cass and I have tried to make the best of it. Glad to be home for a while.
Great video, Riley! Thank you so much for taking us on your journey home. It must have been so hard for your mom and dad not to give you a huge hug. Be well!
Thanks Kristen... the socially distant hugs were less than ideal, but we made it through. My whole family is doing well, and it’s nice to be home (and on land) for a while.
Riley I don't know how I found your channel months ago... But watching your journey has been so fun and interesting! It made me tear up seeing you on that dingy boat headed for land! And then to see your proud Father standing off at a distance in the background watching his boy who returned home aww That right there was beautiful guys! I'm so glad you are home and enjoying quality family time. I can't wait to see what the future holds for you! You are a special young man. Thanks for taking us along for the ride! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!
Thank you very much... that means a lot to me, and my family. So glad you chose to come along on my journey!
What a journey my virtual you tube friend. Glad you made it home!!!
That it has, UA-cam friend. Thanks, and it is good to be home.
So glad you made it home safe and sound Riley. I have loved your videos, thank you for sharing your adventures with us. Loved the music in this video. I must confess I got a little emotional seeing you drive away from then Quantum.
Thanks... have to admit I got a little emotional too, so no worries. What a journey this has been!
So happy you made it home safe and healthy. What an epic journey. You'll certainly have a lot of stories to tell your children and grandchildren (when the time comes, of course, haha). I hope you'll keep us in the loop as to what's going on in your life. Here's to hoping that you'll be returning to the sea before too long.
Thank you Chuck. It was quite the journey! Stories indeed will be told some day 😉 I do plan to keep Vlogging, so stay tuned for new adventures.
Glad to see you're back home! You do such a spectacular job of editing your videos, always enjoy watching them, and can't wait to see more from you!
Thank you so much!!
Wow Riley, Such an amazing journey you've taken us on!!
Just wanted to thank you for such an insightful and enjoyable glimpse into your life on the ocean waves!
Best wishes for the future & continue to stay safe.
Thanks Stephen. That means a lot to me. It has been quite a journey! Hope you stay safe and well.
I am so grateful that 🙏 🙌 that you are home with your family. Welcome back home
Thank you Collatta. It’s great to be back here in Alaska for a while.
Can't wait to see the next one!
Day 1: This is me stuck in my bedroom
Day 2: I climbed out the window for some fresh air! LOL
Day 3: Back in my bedroom....
The hardest part for people returning from abroad, hope your two weeks flew by!
🤣 Yep... That’s pretty much the whole script! It did go pretty quickly though.
hey bro .. it really good for you.. as we are onboard offshore support vessel.. are still counting days to sign off.. it been 240days for most of us.. with sign on and sign off most of the diff parts whre for it involve a lot os hassle.. esp visa.. thank god u are back .. hope for all of us seaferer around the world getting exacly the same with u
Riley, I've followed your whole journey from the start of the pandemic. I'm so glad you're finally home!! I may or may not have teared up a little seeing you back home in Alaska.
Wow... Thanks Rick. It has been a bit of an emotional roller coaster, but it is good to be home for a while.
Welcome back to the USA. And thanks for sharing your trip home. It was a nice touch adding the good bye scene with Cass. The actual one would have been too personal. Wow, the Hong Kong airport was deserted. A sign of the times.I share your sentiment, let them stay democratic. Enjoyed all the Alaska scenery on the drive from the airport to your house.
Hopefully you will back on Quantum of the Seas in the not to distant future. Let's say at least by the next Alaska season, and to be more specific July 2021.
Stay safe.
I won’t lie I got in my feels watching you sail away from the ship.
Riley: I recently stumbled across your videos and since then I have binge watched them all. I can’t wait to see how Quantum is in December... please post as much as you can when you get back there. BTW I used to work for RCL and your videos remind me of how fun and adventurous it all was. Thank you.
When you were leaving the ship, I can't imagine what a moment that must have been. So glad you've made it home. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. I look forward to continue following your story. :)
Thanks Marc. I still play it through in my head sometimes. I think it is one of those life moments that will probably never leave me.
Welcome home. Such a long journey go get back, but what a beautiful place to come home to.
So glad to see you safely home! Say hi to the family for me and I hope the quarantine flies by for you!
Thanks.
OMG what a delightful video. The view out your bedroom window is what so many of us PAY to see, the same way those cruise passengers paid to see the Hong Kong skyline. LOL Your home is gorgeous, I'm glad you got back and I'm glad you made this video. I loved it.
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it! I always love coming home to Alaska.
A nice young man. Always positive attitude.
Glad to see your blessing on HK.
Thanks Steve.
So glad you are home. I was waiting for some wisecrack about sneaking OUT thru your window, but never in.
LOL... I told my dad to refrain from any comments 😉
Yay . So pleased you have finally got home.😍
Thank you Kirsty. It’s good to be home for a while.
Fortuitous timing ... I just found your channel today and binged like the last 10 videos, and here we have a post ship update. Nice!
Wow. That was perfect timing Jamison. Glad you have enjoyed my story.
I've been following your whole incredible journey. Welcome home! That view from your house is amazing!
Glad you came along for the ride Jason, and that you have enjoyed watching. It’s great to be back in Alaska.
@@RileyTench well my wife and I took our very 1st cruise last Dec with Royal Caribbean and it was incredible (it was her birthday gift). So we were excited to go on another, then Covid hit and we hear about the cruise lines during this time. Thats when i came across your videos and I liked your perspective much better. Looking forward to seeing more and hope you get to see Cass soon.
I am so happy you got home safe! Thank you so much for documenting your journey. Be safe and enjoy your family and the gorgeous scenery!
Thank you so much Lisa!
So happy you are home...so sweet..with family air hugs...keep us informed of your journey...what a experience you have gone thru...
Hi Riley, I've followed you since the very beginning! I'm so happy to see how your channel has grown and that you are finally home. Please keep filming, you have created such excellent content and provided a welcomed escape from these crazy times! Best of luck day by day.
These videos have been great! Thanks for documenting your journey!
Your the man Riley!! Looking forward to you next post
Home safe and sound! Love your videos, please keep them coming!
Thanks Linda. Already have a new one in the works 🙂
Great journey and an even better attitude! congrats on getting home, brother.
I live in a smaller county in CA and only have a municipal airport close by. the least I've flown with (before covid) was 13 others, and two of them were flight attendants hopping home
What a beautiful place to go back too! Welcome back, we sure enjoy your videos.
Thanks Randy. I always love the time I have here.
Thanks for the update! Wow Alaska seems to be so nice. Can’t wait to see more of that!
You’re welcome Frederic. Working on some new Alaska videos now, so I can’t wait to share them with you.
Same date for me to fly back home after 6 months stucked in Netherlands. Welcome back home!!
Welcome back to the states! Enjoy it Atleast the view for you looks pretty awesome through your capsule window
Thanks, and yes... I am very fortunate to get to quarantine here in Alaska. Can’t complain about the view one bit. 🙂
Cheers from West Michigan. Love following your journey and glad you made it home safely.
Thanks Ryan. Glad you chose to come along.
Hi! I am from Greece and I used to go on cruises very often, one cruise I took was to Alaska which I loved loved loved. Glad to see that you made it safe back home. What a journey! I’ve watched all your videos bc I am a cruise fan. Stay safe
Great that you are home. The hard part will be in about a month or so when the pull to go back starts to really ramp up and who knows when - or if - that will happen at all this year. I remember the final week of my vacation and starting to really look forward to getting back out there and seeing everybody again.
This was awesome Riley... you're getting really really good at vlogging and keeping it interesting even off the ship, great job! I wouldn't be surprised if you grow this channel to a million subs! ;)
Still learning new techniques and skills as I go, but thank you very much. I am excited about the future.
Greetings from the UK. Glad to see you home safely. Alaska is on my bucket list, it looks wonderful. Stay safe and well.
Thank you Evelyn. You should definitely come visit some day! Hope you stay safe and well too.
Hey Riley... as usual a very entertaining and creative video. It was almost like watching a documentary the way you put it together. Great editing! Also I know you can be a bit unorganized at times but that is the creative mind at work! I'm the same way. We are thinking of so many other things all at the same time. Like how can I make this video so everyone will be entertained and educated at the same time. And you may let other important things fall on the wayside. If you didn't have Cass to help you out, I'm sure you would be lost at sea. I know you will miss her as much as we do. You are an excellent video augrapher. I hope you continue... because you only get better on every video you put out there! Keep up the good work Riley. I'm a big fan. Oh ... and it was the first time I ever saw you without the beard... and I've been following you for a long time! So cool! I'm from Vancouver Island British Columbia and our scenery is as beautiful as yours... take a rest and enjoy it for awhile! It's comforting to know that you are back home and safe.
Riley, really enjoyed following your journey and appreciated the insite as to how things were being handled on the cruise ships!! I hope you consider making more content! Alaska videos?
Thanks Melissa. I’m so glad you came along with me for the journey, and not to worry... I’ve got new Alaska videos in the works. The adventure will continue!
What a ride! Thanks for bringing us along!
It sure has been Laura, and you’re welcome. It has been quite an experiencing sharing the journey!
Always a great pleasure to get back to feel the good vibes of home...rest up, keep well, and plan for that next great adventure...
Well said... I think I will do just that!
Looking forward to seeing some of your Alaska life, Riley, and what the future has in store for you. Something tells me there will be some adventures yet to unfold.
I am so happy you are at home. What a journey! Where you live is very beautiful, I enjoyed the scenery 💕. Hope to see more videos of you in Alaska. Greets from The Netherlands.
Thanks Marjan. It felt so amazing to be back among trees and nature again. It is my favorite part about arriving home. I’m working on some Alaska videos now, so stay tuned!
Welcome home Riley. Take good care and stay safe 😊👍🏻🇺🇸
Appreciate it Scott. You too.
Riley we cruise a lot and over the last 5 months we really enjoyed your videos. I work in a Casino and I would show them to the guys at work during the shut down! We hope you keep making Videos especially when you return to cruising! Glad you are safe man and hopefully you get to see Cass soon!
Thanks Steve.
omg the ice mountain view outside your window is so beautiful! sending you some love all the way from Singapore!
It was the climb through the window for me!!
You do what you gotta do... What a year!
Riley Tench holy smokes, you responded. First, so glad you were able to come home. I can’t imagine what that was like to drift in the sea like that. I have been binging your videos and great work! I felt like I was on the boat with you. I hope you continue blogging and continue pumping out this great content. Ps, is how is your girlfriend?
Thanks. It’s hard to put into words, but looking back on it the whole experience was surreal. I’m glad you enjoyed following along with me. I do plan to keep making videos, so stay tuned. And by the way... Cass is doing great! We are both well, and excited about the future.
Keep the videos coming! I'm glad you're finally home safe and sound. Would love to see videos your town in Alaska and what's life like now that your back home! 💕 And you Face timing Cass! 🙌🥰

alaska landscape is stunning!
That was a great finale video. So sad to say goodbye to someone you have been with for that long in small quarters. However looking on the bright side when you get to meet again will keep the anticipation exciting
Thank you for making the comments about Hong Kong, Hong Kongers really appreciate it🥰
So glad you are being safe with everything and that you are finally home, Riley.

Thanks so much Kevan... I do have some new videos in the works, so stay tuned for new adventures!
it's good to see you back
Thanks. Needed a bit of a break, but it’s nice to be back.
You've got to be one of the FEW taking the pandemic seriously and I've got to say you're awesome for doing so! If you ever want to game or something hit me up man! Welcome back!
This was really well made, Riley! Love the clouds ☁️ time lapse at the end! This video is also an excellent example of proper social distancing from A-to-Z.
fun fact, in the third plane ride, when you landed there was a Boeing dreamlifter which is a heavily modified boeing 747 used to deliver plane parts for boeing
Welcome home Riley! Alaska is absolutely beautiful! We are looking forward for your hometown videos
Thanks Ale. I have to agree about the beauty, and I’m still so happy to call this place home. New videos already in the works, so stay tuned!
Stunning views from your home! Glad you're safely home. We look forward to hearing that Cass is home safely soon.
Thanks Maggie, and yes, Cass is home safely. She left the ship several hours after me, and then quarantined herself in an Airbnb for two weeks. She is now with her family in Kuala Lumpur.
Awesome adventure man, thanks for sharing it with us!
Exciting stuff. Hope you keep videoing. Welcome back to America 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Lisa. It is good to be home for a while. I do plan to keep Vlogging, so stay tuned for new adventures.
Riley climbing through the window like Spider-Man
So happy you made it home safe and sound!
Thank you Marilyn. I have to admit there is no place like home.
I look forward to cruising again. Hope you and Cass are reuinited again soon! Please continue to post. Alaska is beautiful!
Looks like a pleasant and safe journey home. I like how you showed the boat disappearing as the tender made its way to shore. Also, the first steps on solid ground in over 150 days! Good content and good editing! Your family lives in a beautiful place. Enjoy your time at home with your family. Welcome home!
Thanks. I did have fun editing this video, and deciding how to piece the story together. It’s good to be home for a while.
Im a soundguy and was supposed to start my first contract June 11 on grandeur of the seas. Glad to see you made it home finally. Maybe we will work together once the ships set sail again. Stay safe my friend!
Sorry to hear about your first contract, and the timing Scott. It is amazing working on these ships, and some day we will be back out there. Hope you stay well and safe.
Riley Tench after 30 years of doing it on land.... I’m ready for my “briefcase gig with a view”
Hey Riley,
Glad you made it home safe and sound.
Thank you Krissy. It’s good to be home for a while.
Welcome home... I hope you are able to rejoin your GF soon, and move on to the new norm... I am a small time sound guy in Maine.. and well I no longer have work and am selling off all my gear.. good luck to you.. have enjoyed your vids
Sorry to hear that Jason, it's a tough time for everyone right now. Here's to hoping the good times come soon. My thoughts are with you dude.
So happy for you that you're home and safe! What a journey, thank you!
Thank you so much John. It was quite a journey!
