Most local jobs are pick up and delivery (live load and unloads) Most Drop and Hooks are for line haul drivers and the driver doesn't touch the freight. Always depends on the accounts and customer needs. Yes, I'm paid by mile.
No. Its because if your paid by the mile, if your wheels aren't moving, your not making money. Thats why drivers like drop and hooks because its minimum down time. Unlike live loads and unloads, its really unpredictable how fast a shipper or customer will get you out of there. I've had times of less than 10 minutes to as long as 8 hours. Thats why drop and hooks are favorable.
nice hook up and tug. all so check the fifth wheel jaws and make sure the pull handle is all the way in. I had 30 years of doing what you are doing. Always remember safety is number one! above everything else.
Nice view of a Drop and Hook. Suggestion... Learn how to Edit Videos. You could have made this into a 2 minute video saving viewers time by editing out the 4 minutes of driving time portion. :>)
+C J.. I thought it looked like about every other drop lot that I've been in before. For the exception of course, that it was obviously a Schneider yard. Merry Christmas, boys!
thats not the proper way to hook to a trailer if that was consoladitaed freight he would not have a job always supply air to the trailer before backing into to it
paul hardy they dont in North America. You have to push the park brake valve to release parking brakes other wise she isnt going nowhere. Doesnt matter wether you supply air or not.
Good to see you do a pull test.Hope you had a Merry Christmas.Happy New Year.Be safe out there.

We are all students as we continue to learn, none of us are pros :)

always do tug before going nice video bro be safe out there !.
nice video !
He did 2 tugs
The best way to bend/damage the landing legs is by not winding them an inch or so off the ground before locking the pin and tug test.
Bin there, done that, fuck that. Tri axles now. :)
Dude that angle looks awesome!
The Schneider Way. Safety first and always.
Nice Vid. Drove a Pumpkin Truck for 10 yrs now been driving for Swift 11 yrs next month
Fuck Swift
Are you paid by mile? I thought jobs like drop&hook are mostly local, so the drivers are paid by hour.
How About Glow in the Dark Orange? Just when you Think it Can't Get Brighter .
5:20 woopsies that tractor park break is a doosie
Airbags
Time for new tires driver....
3:02 that truck's totaled.
hahahahhahah
That was a noisy ass Freight-shaker. Whats with all the turbo while it's sitting still? Sheeesh.
What were you checking before you connected? You still have to check everything after connecting!!
Hostler driver for bnsf for life
good tug at end Schneider
Good shit drag that trailer and make sure king pin is locked...👌
How long is the average drop and hook process? Can the time vary per truck type, driver ? IDK lol
Yup.....its been there for awhile but recently got rid of it.
Is it just me, or does every Schneider truck have me to to no tread on the drive tires?
Otherwise known as a simple 'trailer swap'.
great video but why did I watch you drive around the yard for five minutes lol
I ask myself the same thing sometimes 🙂
what schneider yard was this in
French camp, ca. About 5 min south of Stockton.
Do you see a lot of Independent Contractors there. Either the trucks leased to Schneider or they own and have their own mc and dot #
bigbrar1997 Yeah, but alot of them use our broker service and they don't park in our yard.
Was that a random trailer? How do you know which trailer to hook up to and where it's at?
You didn't check to see if the tandems were locked.
The video is called drop and hook, not hookup and full trailer inspection
whats with the flatspots on tires? time to fire the driver for brake abuse! need to know how to drive too! hooking and unhooking only not cut it lol
Pe Co alright professional douche bag. What if it was a different driver in that truck? I bet you’re perfect. 🙄
Why the long drive in the middle K. I. S
nope....i had an empty trailer and notice, i circled the whole lot. I was looking for the loaded trailer :)
wow nice flat spots
Cool stuff
didn't back far enough in to check the trailer height. you didn't supply sir to the trailer to put the trailer brakes on...yeah all wrong.
Ian Wolf releasing air puts the brakes on stoop. ..
I've heard drop&hook is driver's dream job. Why? Is it like you're an owner-operator of a tractor and trailers belong to company you're working for?
damn I miss French Camp

What kind of video equipment are you using? Any particular of editing software?
Nothing special. Its Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12. Its the low end of Sony Vegas but does everything for a quarter of the price.
4:31 hoo
thats not the proper way to hook to a trailer if that was consoladitaed freight he would not have a job always supply air to the trailer before backing into to it
if you put air too the trailer, the brakes will come off and the trailer will roll back. Well they do in england
paul hardy they dont in North America. You have to push the park brake valve to release parking brakes other wise she isnt going nowhere. Doesnt matter wether you supply air or not.
Shut her down to early!!!
pointless!
Terrible
