      Thanks man!! It surprises me how much people in teaching positions don't go into detail with regards to the sure suspension and dumping the air.

    This is really how and why to use a air/suspension dump. Two missing things IMO....
    1. My personal pet peeve is drivers who lower landing gear all the way. As you sort of suggested doing if you don't have a dump. Lowering the gear all the way, particularity with an empty trailer screws the next guy. ALWAYS leave an inch or two.
    2. Lowering the gear all the way and or using the dump incorrectly when hooking can be very hard on the gear as well. If the fifth isn't raising the trailer when you push under then cause you're never exactly centered it side loads the gear. You did it in the vid but didn't mention it, if using the dump to get under then stop before hitting the pin and let the tractor lift the trailer.

    Mil gracias, por sus esfuerzos para compartir sus conocimientos, a pesar de no dominar bien el inglés, interpretó muy bien el gran esfuerzo que haces por dejar todo bien entendible. Gracias nuevamente.

    Do the one where a driver disconnects and pulls out from under the trailer but forgets to lower his landing gear.

      @@MyTruckingSkills Ha, that is ok, I see plenty of it up close out in the field. I never jump in the truck without triple checking both the locking jaws, hoses and Landing gear. I have never dropped a trailer and never plan to ever be that guy. When I was a brand new driver there were a couple times I started pulling out with the gear dragging, luckily there were other drivers there in the yard to get my attention before I did any damage. I pulled the handle and released the locking jaws once without first disconnecting the hoses first and the trailer rolled back off the truck, pulled the hoses tight but luckily no damage, did that in front of a bunch of other drivers. Never fuck up, but if you do, never do it in front of other truckers.

    Our mechanic refuse to fix the dump valve system. I dropped a trailer in front of one and he said to use the dump valve, I told him I wrote it up more than once.

    Can you bleed the air pressure off by pumping the brakes when the engines off instead of a dump valve?

    • @MyTruckingSkills
      @MyTruckingSkills  4 роки тому +1

      That air is separate from the ones in the air tanks. Plus you world not be able to move the truck with no air so there is no point

      @@MyTruckingSkills So how would you reduce the air pressure if the dump valve isn't functioning?

    • @snek9353
      @snek9353 4 роки тому +1

      @@drm44876366 Can't, not in any practical way. Do as he showed in the vid and stop for a minute right at the point where the fifth tilts back. But please do not lower the gear all the way to compensate, lowering the gear all the way screws the next guy.

      When I experienced that, the only reason was that it was broken. The pin and the bar that is connected to it, the weld that keeps then together is broken. I have seen that tons of times.
