  • Opening later in 2024, the LAX/Metro Connector Station will be located near Aviation Blvd. and 96th st. which will intersect with the LAX automated people mover line. Just a short distance from the K Line Century/Aviation Station.
    The goal of this new Airport Metro Connector Transit Station (AMC) is to provide a reliable, fast, and convenient connection for passengers traveling between LAX and the regional bus and rail transit system. By integrating with existing and future transit connections and airport facilities, Metro hopes to increase public transit trips to and from LAX with minimal impact to airport facilities and surrounding communities and to help reduce air pollution. Core features planned for the new multi-modal AMC include the following:
    A new large capacity light rail station as part of the Crenshaw/LAX Line and the C Line
    An extensive Bus Plaza and terminal facility for Metro and municipal bus operators
    Active Transportation hub with secured bicycle parking
    A new Metro Customer Center
    Pedestrian plaza with passenger pick-up and drop-off area
    Direct connection to the future LAX Automated People Mover (APM)

    The completion of the LAX Metro Connector Station is going to result in a reconfiguring of the Metro Rail Lines. The station will serve both the C Line (Green) and the K Line (Pink). The C Line, coming from the east, instead of curving to the south and going to Redondo Beach, will instead curve to the north and terminate at this LAX Metro Connector Station. The K Line (Crenshaw LAX Line) will continue south and replace the southern portion of what is currently the C Line to Redondo Beach, and the K line will continue south to Redondo Beach, and eventually, the K Line will be extended even further south to Torrance.

      Well the Metro end looks to be complete by the end of 2024. We'lll see if LAWA can make up some ground for their late 2025 estimation.

    The CONRAC lot appears to have bus bays under the skylink tracks. You can see them around 1:10 into your video. This should allow them to open that facility using buses if skylink isn't in time.

    • @leeszikiat7953
      @leeszikiat7953 13 годин тому

      Can’t they still open the LAX metro center? Does the skylink station have to be completed for it to open?
      I would think the CONRAC bus bays are for the hotel shuttles but maybe not.

    Looks like they’re on track for the Fall 2024 opening. Really wish the APM would be opening at the same time, but oh well. Hopefully it’ll be around for next year’s holiday travel season, and really summer travel season too.

      They came out a couple months back. The "people mover" won't open until 2025.

    • @ChrisJones-gx7fc
      @ChrisJones-gx7fc 5 днів тому +3

      @@rockyroad-hq7hz was it that vague or were they a bit more specific, cause previously it was late 2025, so if it’s just 2025 now then hopefully that means it will open sooner, like summer or even spring. Still unfortunate it won’t open in time for this year’s holiday travel season.

    • @mrxman581
      @mrxman581 5 днів тому +1

      Yeah, the weird thing is that all the stations on the APM look nearly finished compared to the LA Metro transit center in this video. Yet the transit center will open this year, and the APM will not until next year.
      I know there were contractual issues, but haven't they been resolved? Might there be problems with the automation technology infrastructure?
      If anything, it seems like it should be ready before summer 2025. I could see them start train testing in October or November and be ready by April or May. Just in time for summer vacations.

    3:36 this is going to be a DNE/Buses Only sign for the bus bay loop. Another one is going on the south end at 1:36. Drop-offs for the Metro station will be located further south. Drop-offs for the airport will be directed to the drop off/pick up stations on LAWA property closer to the station F entrance.

    The skylink station appears to be much farther along than the metro station. Inside lights are visible, which means it has power. The metro station doesn't yet have electrical power that I can see.

      The current plan is for the HSR to run to LA Union Station, the city’s OTHER major Transit Hub, but not direct to LAX. Because LAX is actually a bit far away from downtown, and serving it directly would require a dedicated spur line. One of the smaller regional airports should be getting an HSR stop tho in phase I, and the only regional airport with actual room to expand and become a major rival to LAX, Ontario Airport, will be getting one in Phase II to San Diego tho, which should take MASSIVE stress off LAX.
      And you will be able to get between Union and LAX on metro once the K line & people mover are complete, it’s just a 3-seat ride (either A->C->LAX APM or E->K->LAX APM). Which thankfully because of metro’s fare structure will only charge passengers for their first ride in a like 2-hour transfer grace period. Hopefully they’ll give it a metro express service at some point, but HSR serving it directly is a LOOONG way out.
