I only studied a lot when i went for the first time last year but the second time was so easy, all thanks to my aunt who introduced me to Mr Willard am really grateful.
I’m not looking to get into real estate or anything, just following your journey. You’re such a great speaker, clear and concise - very easy to follow. If I was going into this career field, your video would be such a huge help!! Keep on be amazing!
Hi Lisa, Great video very informative. I am doing my research for realtor license. I want to know how much is the approximate ongoing cost to maintain the license. Insurance + fees etc.
Hey M, it can vary based on how many boards you join, if you choose to join CREA (most do), etc. I'll work on a video with a whole breakdown soon! But a couple thousand for sure per year, and school was about $4000 or so.
Hi Samantha, I wouldn't say that. In fact I think there's significantly less math and complexities like that, that don't come up in real life, whereas the OREA course I've been told had more of that.
Oh my goodness thank you so much, I’m finishing the first course and had no idea what to expect. You’re awesome! I do have a question though! Once complete how long do I have before I have to book my exam? I hope I have time to study everything before having to book my exam.
Hey Crispy, you are so welcome! You can pretty much take as long as you want to book your exam. One thing to be aware of, however, is that the Humber site only lets you book 7 days in advance or more. Meaning if you want to write on March 7th, you'd have to book it no later than March 1st. I hope that makes sense, and let me know if you have any other questions! :)
Hi Lisa, This is so nice of you to make this video which was much needed for a person starting a career in Real estate and doesn't know about the new college curriculum. How fast can we complete the course as in orea we can do as soon as 6 months. What about the college norms?
Hey Tasnea, it can vary based on how many boards you join, if you choose to join CREA (most do), etc. I'll work on a video with a whole breakdown soon! But a couple thousand for sure per year, and school was about $4000 or so.
Hi Lisa I absolutely love you for doing this. You said in your video that there’s no math, then why would I bring my calculator for? btw: math is my only nightmare 😳 Great video 🙏🙏🙏
Hi Lisa! Thanks for the video. Very insightful. Given that I have just started my research on becoming a real estate agent, I have a question, might be a trivial one. What is the difference between a real estate salesperson and a broker/agent? Can these be used interchangeably? Where does the Humber program fit in?
Hi Prashant, thanks for your comment! So the word "agent" is technically not a correct way to describe a real estate salesperson according to the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO). The Humber Real Estate Salesperson Program trains you to become a "Real Estate Salesperson" (what the public incorrectly calls "agents") and after additional training and time, you can become a licensed Real Estate Broker. There is no outright benefit to being a Broker (you don't usually make more commission, etc.), except that you can have your own brokerage (though there are many challenges and rules that come along with that!) I hope that helps! :) Cheers, Lisa

Hi Lisa, thanks for such an informative video. I do want to ask again, when you said there are no math questions and stated that even course 2 and 3 does not. Do you mean it does not have any scenario questions e.g They give you a story, the price of the property, if they did assessment of property, and what percentage the agent (buyer and seller) would receive and brokerage, and then ask you what is the selling price or whatever the question they may ask. It is almost 2 page long, and then they have on a third page asking you more questions about that particular scenario. You did not get any of those type of questions? And when you also said they MCs are just a b c or d, and none of those D = a & b or all of the above, they had those in OREA exams too. But those are usually for math questions. Please let me know, as this may change my mind on re-taking the whole thing at Humber. Thank you!
Hi Crystal, sorry for the late reply! There’s nothing that in-depth until you get to the Sims exams. Those are longer situational questions but generally the questions are fairly short.
Hi Harpreet, there's some math but honestly not much at all on the actual exams! Only 2-4 questions per exam, and each exam is 75 questions (1st) then 115 questions for exams 2-4. So as you can see, nothing to worry about, and it's all really basic math. I am definitely NOT a math person and I did great. You'll do fine :)
I'm currently in Jamaica ,got married my wife lives in Toronto n in planning on moving there I'm rlly rlly passionate about learning ,and getting my real.estate licence there
So is this all I need to become a real estate agent? Does this cover everything? Will this make me eligible for real-estate upon completion? How much will you end up paying?
Hey Nathaniel, it can vary based on how many boards you join, if you choose to join CREA (most do), etc. I'll work on a video with a whole breakdown soon! But a couple thousand for sure per year, and school was about $4000 or so. For full details visit the humber real estate website - there are 5 Courses in total plus 2 simulation sessions.

Let me get this straight... So If I fail my first Real estate exam, and take it a second time, it's $100. But if I have to take it a third time, I need to pay the full $4000 for the course again?
Hey Anna, yep that’s pretty much it! I know it’s a total cash grab. People have had success getting Humber to grant them free additional tries but honestly yeah on paper they’re supposedly charging the whole course fee again!!
Hi Lisa, Great insight. Couple of questions though: I see that you have a maximum of 24 months to complete the course, but as an idealist what would you feel is the minimum time period to finish this course? Second, When can you enroll to start, i dont see a schedule or a time period mentioned in the Humber Website. Can i enroll today and start or is there a enrollment season?
Hi Karan, thanks for your comment! To answer your questions, it's a little tricky now because Covid-19 has stalled our program completely. At the moment we are fighting for the right to write our exams online (at the moment they are mandatory in-person exams). There's also the problem of the in-person Simulation Sessions. If all was normal, you can complete the course in as little as 6 months if you have regular access to exams and Simulation Sessions. If you live far away it may take longer as sessions and exam dates are fewer and farther between. Now, as for beginning, you can start right away on Course 1. The issue is that when you're ready to write your exam you'll be in the same pandemic boat as the rest of us ;) Once you register I believe the course will open either immediately or within 24 hours. There is no semester or season or anything like that. It runs all the time online. I hope that helps! Cheers, Lisa
