Rolling a Packraft - Alpacka Raft Gnarwhal

- I was issued a challenge to find out if I could roll a Packraft. Today I found out. See what it takes to roll a packraft compared to a kayak. I got my hands on an Alpacka Raft Gnarwhal and had to step up to the challenge. Learning and mastering an eskimo roll in a packraft is a skill that will make your packrafting even better! These craft are designed to afford access to kayak camping locations where it is simply not feasible to get a hard shell kayak into. These are very popular in Alaska and all over the Pacific Northwest. Check them out...they are pretty cool.
Hello Pete you're the man showing them there's nothing you can't handle. Keep on proving them wrong.
Will do Mack! Thanks!
my dad and I both have the Aire Force. I haven’t had any luck rolling mine and neither has my dad. I promise only thumbs up if thats the next one you try. Thanks Wes
Right on! I will take a look at that one!
Wow! That looked like you were rolling a bagel! Good job!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 perfect description!
I’d love to see more pack rafting. You had a packraft adventure with a few videos that were great but I can’t find it again ... could you create a playlist and put it on your channel playlist page?
Mostly I want to hear about what you have to adjust from kayaking to pack rafting. When i watch a kayak instructional video, what am I going to have to change to make it work in a packraft?
Right on Fayley! That playlist is called unsanctioned. Great idea for a video!!

😎👍
Dang! Was that a first try roll? Those things look sweet
Yes sir!! Not too bad...just slower so you cant force it. And yes, they are pretty sweet!
River Kings heck yeah! Good job rolling it. Can’t wait to see what else you’ll be attempting.
Nice work!
Have any experience with the Wolverine? I’m currently trying to decide between the Gnarwhal and the Wolverine. Leaning Gnarwhal, but wasn’t sure if once you got used to it you ever wanted the “more playful” Wolverine.
Sadly, no experience with the wolverine...the gnarwhal was great but I dont have much other experience...
@@RiverKingsKayak well thanks anyway. I’m in the Asheville area, maybe I’ll see you guys on the water one of these days.
@@trailcactus187 yes sir!!
What do you think of the Packraft in general?
They are very cool! I would not replace any of my kayaks with it, but it can do some things that kayaks cannot. I am considering getting one. They are very popular in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. At only 5 lbs or so, it gives you the ability to pack in your boat and then utilize it.
Great job buddy. I guess we know #WWPBD!!!!!
Thanks Shane!
Can you roll a two seater MRS barricade RT pro
Oooooohhh...I need to find out!
Genial, ¿lo has hecho alguna vez despues de volcar en un rapido real? Casi No hay videos de esa situacion real
Gracias! No, I have pack rafts some, but have never flipped while in the rapids...would be a great video though!
If you want a challenge loop that beast in a hole, I have been trying but so far only achieved a semi-arial space godzilla, and yes it is as challenging and ridiculous as it sounds
I guarantee it!!!
#WWPBD What would Pete Beck do? He'd roll that thang like a boss!
Thats what I'm talking about!! LOL!
Did you do anything to tie your feet or knees?
There are thigh braces in there
Will the turtles roll up in it too? Lol. Hahaha
That's the secret to my role! I have an army of small turtles pushing my kayak up for me!
A 8ft sundolfin Aruba SS. With no skirt. It's a cheap recreation kayak from Kmart
..
oh yeah, got to have a sun dolphin in the mix!
@@RiverKingsKayak Do you think it's possible to roll a sun dolphin with out a skirt? This is what I'm currently paddling.
I got a 14ft Jon boat with your name on it.....didnt hear any rules or classification on whatbkind of boat...lol
If there are no rules.. I might find a way! LOL!!
Maybe some salvaged car airbags Pete.
What do you push that boat with Kevin? I use a 1966 Evinrude lightwin 3hp. I love that little motor.
@@richardjeffries7893 3.5 hp Chinese knock off motor. Havent had it out in years though. Kayaks take priority now lol
@@thewonderingelectrician yeah pretty much the same here.
Well pete... I really hope thatll show the nay sayers. Especialy that pesky thumbs down guy. However always rember bear and monkey had the faith.never did we dout ya buddy. Hate we missed the sub paddle but the world keeps going even on labor day i had to work so hopefully next time
Thanks Barry! Next time for sure!
Chris-thumbs up.
Does it collapse/deflate?
Yeah they're pretty cool. They weigh between 4 and 9 pounds depending on which model you get. They're designed to be packed in then utilized.
@@RiverKingsKayak Could be exactly what I'm looking for!
Thanks RK!
Can you roll a Mrs Nomad? :)
mmm....never tried...but now I want to...
