I've found for me, it's a combination of good speaker placement, a good room and calibrating your speakers to an appropriate volume. Then adding the use of reference tracks to guide you on where things should be placed in a mix. I think the real nightmare is when you can't hear into the low frequencies but headphones can help with that when a sub isn't really an option. Also adding a sub can be complicated and pricy and complex sometimes so really sometimes it's better to get larger monitors if you have a good room.
Get a second pair of cheap speakers and listen to your mix at low levels on those speakers. I’ve seen some engineers bring a boom box into their session with banana jacks on the back so they could plug into the mini speaker power amp. If you have to use too much EQ while listening thru a small monitor, something is wrong.
After getting burned on 2 pairs of ik multimeida monitors. (Micro and mtm) They told me out of warranty they won’t send parts or schematics to repair the speakers. They had no tech support division only customer care disguised as tech support lol I decided to stay away from any budget speaker company, any new speaker company or any mass marketed speaker company and kali fits into all of those. A great speaker for the price doesn’t mean a great speaker. If I could go back I’d have bit the bullet and got a great set right away, even if I was making payments on them I’d have been better off than spending 2-3k over the years on junk that doesn’t work anymore. A used set of genelecs (or any reputable brand) is a smarter purchase than a new set of all these “affordable” monitors. I ended up with the Neumann kh420s and couldn’t imagine a world without speakers of this quality level.
jbl 305/306 are crazy budget workhorses, that cant be beat for the money. they need to be EQ'd though, they have some issues.I had those ilouds, they are plastic junk that CHUFF out sound in the rear like no other. shady ass company I would never support.
You described it perfectly well;
“it doesn’t matter which speakers
you use as long as it translates”
😀👌🏼
its as simple as that
Early repeat early KRK's were excellent, as are Quested.
Agreed
I never see anyone speaking on quested. Glad to hear feedback on them. I’m interested in a pair of 3110s.
Quested 3110 are excellent monitors.

Yep
Definitely yes.

Good suggestions
Question. Is a home studio really a studio or is it better to have an actual studio at a separate location and the home can remain a home?
@@kingech_B15 if you can afford to have a separate studio from your house, that would be nice if that is within your budget
