Next challenge is up, Pokemon Red with only a single Dratini! 🔷 ua-cam.com/video/K1q7Q3w1ums/v-deo.html
Can you please do Pokémon black with just Munna?
Pokemon red or fire red with only dratini(cant remember if you have done this before or not)
ALRIGHT IM EARLY HE WILL FINALLY NOTICE ME!
MDB, I have a request. I want to see you play a pokémon game of your choise with only using Ponyta, my favourite fire-type. It's weak enough to make the challenge difficult and it has an interesting moveset. (If I would have to pick a game i would say HearthGold because I want to see you do a challenge run on HearthGold or SoulSilver). I really hope you will make a challenge with Ponyta. Love your vids!
A wild Twitter appears 😁
You should do another experiment, going through red with his Yellow team, to see which is easier to use to beat the game.
I just now realized how much sense it makes that Giovanni is a Ground-type specialist. Most police officers rely mainly on Growlithe, a Fire-type Pokemon. Furthermore, most other Rocket members rely on Poison and Normal types (the latter being useless against Rhydon), allowing him to stay on top.
Additionally, Dig is the criminal move. So much so that one Rocket risked arrest for a single TM of said move. You can evade pretty much anything and build a certain underground base with it, be almost at two places at the same time and so on.
Also police agents are often equipped with tasers so...
I am mind blown!! 🤯
Interesting never really thought about it like that before
and you know.... he is part of a underGROUND organisation of Kanto. Your theory works too though
We passed a huge audit at work this week, and while that's cool, I'm even more excited that this is week 35 of asking for Pokemom Sapphire with only one Absol
Might want to hit him up on twitter.
@@daviddrake5991 That would involve me signing up for Twitter, which is a no-go for me. He replied to a comment a bit ago, so I know he's at least seen it. Either way, these comments are good for the UA-cam algorithm.
@@Oh_Lionheart you DESERVE it man.
Omg, I want this so bad now
He'd probably do emerald, not sapphire
There's a reason Giovanni turned to crime: he is an objectively terrible pokemon trainer. Giovanni, Blane, and Bruno should form their own league of failure.
That's very funny to read after reading the Manga. :p
I'm sure Blaine was better in battle during his youth give the man a break he's got Alzheimers probably. How else can you explain the potions he uses while his Pokémon are full health.
Kanto's Non-Elite Three
If MDB ever tried to do a Blaine run, he’d have to use items in battle. Just flip a coin every turn and, if heads, he’d have to waste his turn using a potion on a full health Pokémon.
@@MagusAgrippa8 hahaha hahaha hahaha, you killed me laughing
Giovanni : breaks the rules of the game to lose
Blane : I raised that boy
Nidoran learns Tail Whip at level 21 if you prevent it from evolving into Nidorina. At level 22, you let it evolve, use a Moon Stone and next level you get Body Slam.
I love hearing about Blaine's ineptitude. Please never stop telling us about how pathetic he is.
Gotta count the number of super-potions used at full health in all MDB's videos...
Blaine does it on purpose. He's depressed after having committed a crime against humanity by helping to clone Mew, now he seeks punishement...
@@Nerex7 Blaine: OwO i’ve been a bad boy punish me harder~
Jrose's Bruno-only run: *Finally, a worthy opponent! Our battle will be legendary!*
yessssssss!
Brunos team would spank giovanni's
Except that I think Jrose capped the levels to Bruno's levels
And yellow Bruno had some useful moves
Looking at Dugtrio's level: It's a trap!
I suggest a Red/Blue run with only Magmar. If you look at its move list you’ll understand why.
If you want throw in no Tms for added challenge I’m pretty sure magmar would have one of the highest base stat totals for a mon in a single run that you’ve done so far.
*Me:* Wait, how bad is its movese--oh. Oh no.
One guy already did this. His channel is called Scott's Thoughts, and for further interest, he had it race Electabuzz.
Oh let me check this moveset- oh.... Well, magmar has a good special atta- OH YEA HIS SPECIAL IN GEN 1 WAS 85, THE SAME AS SPECIAL DEFENSE NOW A DAYS....
At least it gets access to early Body Slam. And later it can also learn Mimic for potential badge boosting.
But yeah, it's movepool is kind of shallow. For the most part you're stuck with Psychic, Body Slam, and (fire type move) for two-thirds the entire run.
I know you typically don't prefer Black and White challenges due to exp issues, but maybe you'll try this one since it's a team of 6 so overleveling isn't as necessary?
Can you beat pokemon Black and White using the lowest stat-ed pokemon?
So you'd use:
HP - Venipede
Attack - Munna (it doesn't have to be a physical attacking Munna, just... a munna)
Defense - Blitzle
Special Attack - Darumaka (similarly doesn't have to be a special attacking Darumaka)
Special Defense - Roggenrola
Speed - Ferroseed
That'd be worse probably, since full team grinds are already really rough
@@aigis0423 But also, you'd get some kick-ass pokemon. Roggenrola and Ferroseed are both really good for first forms, and Blitzle has some great stats (physical electric type though, which is a shame)
Darumaka has 90 base attack so it won't be that hard
Maybe let him evolve them?
@@aigis0423 I thought the issue with BW runs was trying to overlevel, rather than leveling in general. Which is why I figured a full team would be easier, since there's less need to overlevel.
I could totally be wrong though.
"I am Bruno of the Elite Four! I am the best of the best!"
*Tries to Thunder Punch a ground type*
And he is supposed to be a figthing type elite Four... and HAS TWO ONIXES when he could use Poliwrath and Primeape...
Why doesn't he have Good AI? It's so strange!
@@thehuskysnowball9210 Bruno trains in the mountains where riding on an onix is convenient. In the card game rock, ground, and fighting pokemon use the same pokemon card energy, being fighting.
Having 2 onixes ensures that if the player uses normal type pokemon they have to use TMs for type coverage.
So, it's a test of the player's skill.
But you could beat him with a Parasect with mega drain, slash, spore, and hyper beam.
@@dakotashroom5401 To be fair, Bug resists Fighting.
@@thehuskysnowball9210 it’s not as bad as lance having MULTIPLE Dragonites
On our way through, I took the helix fossil. I knew if I didn’t say what I took you’d all ask. Actually now that I think about it everyone ask anyway. Comments are good for the UA-cam algorithm.
lol
Ah yes
I recite it word for word along with mdb every single time
I have a challenge: Pokemon Red with every Elite Four weakest member, I think its a pretty fun idea and would like to see it.
Been asking for this for about a year and I'll ask again pokemon platinum with only one Aipom.
I think your music edit doesn't get a lot of comments because of how smooth it is. Your transitions between tracks is clean and the VO is a good amount louder than the tracks. Think you're just doing a good job!
*So after Giovanni lost to trainer Red he went on a long journey to train his Dugtrio to Lv 70*
"I think that was the 256 glitch" - my man used DIG! Of course it missed
Might I suggest for any repeats of this run, to differentiate it from the Dugtrio run, that one instead start with a Kangaskhan that you won't be allowed to use in the Elite Four as per the rules, and that you need to capture a Onix prior to the Rocket Hideout?
I never comment, so I might as well add that you've produced so much amazing content. Thank you for all the entertainment over the years.
Im honestly not sure if you have gotten this suggestion before but here we go:
There are 6 stats in Pokémon: Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, HP, and Speed. You have 6 slots in a party. You should try a run where you use the Pokémon with the highest base stat of each particular stat. If 2 Pokemon have the same highest stat in a game you can choose which one to use. You can do this in any generation that you choose. Have a nice day!
The other rules you use in your normal challenges apply. No items in battle (held items are allowed), etc.
Excluding legendaries
This doesn’t work cuz shuckle is best in defense and special defense
@@Aegisoftheshine then he does it in Kanto
"No legendaries" is a caveat I would add. Too easy otherwise.
@@geologist1235 He doesn't use legendaries in most of his runs anyways.
Pokémon Red “Elite 4” challenge:
4 unique (non legendary) Pokémon of your choice
When fighting elite 4 only 1 per member (no repeats)
Goal is the lowest total level sum of the 4 elite Pokémon
Interesting Idea
Next time you should do Blaines team, show him how it's really done! At least you won't heal a full HP Pokemon!
Challange #20:
I dare you to pick the Dome Fossil once

Suggestion:
Here's an easier but fun run for you. Pokemon (Which ever one you want) but only using the Gym leaders' ace pokemon. So like if you did a gen 4 run, you get Cranidos, Roserade, Mismagius, Lucario, Floatzel, Bastiodon, Froslass, and Electivire. (I did that on memory so pardon me if I messed that up. I'm sure you get the point.) You could make it harder by also using only their move sets. That will just make the earlier pokemon kinda useless though. Anyway, great work on the vids. Keep it up!
I’d be interested in seeing the order you get those Pokémon in…and if it’s possible to get both fossils without trading, I don’t remember Diamond/Pearl like at all.
@@J3Puffin So, weird thing about D/P/Pt is that you need trading to get both fossils . . . but not for the reason you'd think.
You obtain Fossils from the Sinnoh Underground, and can keep trying for them as many times as you like, but Diamond players are locked to only Cranidos, and Pearl players are locked to only Shieldon. Not only that, but Platinum players are also Fossil locked to one or the other based on Trainer ID; I can't remember which is which, but the fossil your save file is locked to depends on whether your ID ends in an odd or even number.
I thought about doing that myself in HGSS. I usually dislike using the same Pokemon as other notable trainers (not just the Gym Leaders) because, I dunno, I feel like I'm copying their style or sonething? But I haven't used any of their Pokemon, ever, and I'd love to use some of them, especially Scyther/Scizor, Steelix and Pilo/Mamoswine.
but there are 8 gyms.... do you then choose which pokemon you take?
@@alexanderzack3720 yeah, you catch all 8 then just choose who you want to use.
I listen to all of my UA-cam videos or watch them at 2x speed. All of them except for yours. I just want to enjoy yours longer. Thanks for making the Pokémon videos every week
Here's a bit of a tricky one to implement, but I'd love to see you try! Do poke'mon red using Blaine's team AND battle the way you think Blaine would battle! Let's see if Blaine could become the poke'mon champion!
Calling it right now, MDB is gonna use a Persian to sweep the late game.
Nope Dugtrio
Thats yellow
@@JPIQQG -Someone didn't get the joke.- I know that Giovanni uses it only in Yellow, but I'd find really funny if MDB couldn't beat the game under those rules, caught a Meowth, and then evolve it into a Persian to beat the Pokémon Champion.
@@AgsmaJustAgsma Oh yeah, that'd be funny.
Wouldn’t Blastoise be the actual hardest for you to fight? Nidoqueen and Nidoking both resist grass (neutral) 👀👀👀👀
The rival having venusaur means he also has a wateronix, this combo is stronger than blastoise and Exeggutor because Exeggutor doesn't have any grass move.
Those last two fights were actually great. Nidoking pulling an ATV on Dragonite and Nidoqueen popping off with the PRZ chance. Not to mention Rhydon punching above its weight and Dugtrio basically being your "Pikachu". Truly a sequence of events worthy of the anime's first season.
This is going to be interesting.
By the way Platinum with ateam of Wormadam sounds funny, isn't it?
Gio: *gives you Earthquake TM*
Also Gio: "Nah. Who needs this crap? Why would I even want to teach this to any of my Pokemon?"
Doesn't he give you fissure in Gen 1?
This definitely feels like a dugtrio challenge. But, that doesn't damage the enjoyability of the video. Blastoise would have been harder than venusaur because it has higher defense.
But, we know it has to be possible.
I miss the old screen.
This was an awesome run to watch!
I wish Giovanni used a Sandslash instead of a rhyhorn and had his pokemon have earthquake like they do in yellow.
Here's a way to improve Blaine's team! He could use a Magmar instead of a growlithe. He could also use a Flareon instead of a ponyta.
But, I realize Flareon is considered a rare pokemon so a Flareon is unrealistic just like him having a Charizard on his team.
So, I'm suggesting Blaine use a team consisting of a Ninetales, Rapidash, Arcanine, ponyta, and Magmar.
Blaines team isn’t the issue Blaine is
Growlithe and ponyta are extremely good first evolution. Blaine's easy cause of gen 1 AI and poor movesets. You can easily make Blaine one of the hardest 8th gym leader with just a better movset and like 5 levels, (and obviously a halfway decent AI).
The Venusaur team is harder because of Gyarados' immunity to Ground Types plus Exeggutor would be the Grass Type for the Blastoise Team and that's not a threat compared to Venusaur so yeah, Blastoise is harder but the whole Venusaur-Gyarados combo is much harder
@@mabs6253 idk hes hardly using any ground moves anyway and i would say that exeggutor is a threat, it would destroy the poison types
@@oldblokestranded8767 "hardly using any ground moves"
> basicly only uses Dugtrio with Dig

Hitmonchan: "It's *BIG BRAIN* time."
Pokémon Platinum (I think it's the best) with no Poké Ball, neither for HM (i.e. only starter, fossils, eggs, gifts...)
I really want to see you use that togepi 😂
Great video! Your commitment to such arbitrary rules is always super fun and your commentary only gets better and better. One question though, which fossil did you take?
I think Squirtle would have been a harder Match up. Simply because your ground moves wouldn't be super effective like Bulbasaur. Other than that always enjoy the videos! This would be a good challenge up to Gen 3.
1: ground moves aren't super effective against venasaur even if the game claims it so, it's just neutral
2: if rival has blastoise, he wouldn't have gyradoes which is way more threatening
@Anubhav Mahapatra In Gen 1 Gyarados has higher speed/Special/Attack also Hyperbeam which in gen 1 has insta recharge if it makes a ko so yes Gyarados>Blastoise no contest Gen1. Gen1 Gyarados has 100 Special while Blastoise has 85 also the rival has smart AI so it would try to use withdraw which would entail free hit.
@Anubhav Mahapatra that was true in... never, Gyaradoes is one of the best pokemon in gen 1 only let down by the fact that Starmie ruled the metagame when it came to water types. Also gyarados has better stats than Blastoise everywhere except for defense and a better moverpool as well.
Here’s an idea: a Paraspectre run. You can only use Parasect and Sandslash. What a fun time.
😄 love your pkmn tcg challenge runs
So the game boy player for the GameCube didn’t actually have any unique borders, every game just defaulted to having a generic “Gameboy Advance” border. So this is definitely the Super Gameboy.
The Gameboy Player for the SNES had the same border as the emulator
@@phillipb6666 that’s the Super Gameboy I’m talking about. The Gameboy player was only a thing on the GamCube.
MDB really said “ let’s do a dugtrio with dig solo run! But let’s catch Giovanni Pokémon go make it more interesting!”😂😂 loved it ❤️
"Probably gonna rely on Nidoqueen"
Be careful what you wish for
Weird to hear the fossil gag start while you were getting a MOON STONE :).
I feel like if these team-theme challenges are going to end up turning into essentially one-mon challenges then they lose a lot of their appeal. I would suggest in the future doing this kind of run in a later generation where gym leaders have less terrible teams so that you could actually use more of them.
See this is why you gotta level cap them and use the same moveset as the person youre copying.
I'm sure part of that is due to his tight work schedule (meaning he doesn't have time to grind out or equally use the team members), but I agree that there really isn't a point to these "use the rival's/Gym Leader's/Evil Team Leader's team" challenges if he's going to rely pretty much entirely on one 'mon. (doubly so in a case like this, where the 'mon he solos with isn't even the intended team's ace)
A later gen run could be interesting, though. Like see if Clair or Volkner could really take on the League like they claim they can, or see how Wallace became the Champion (Ruby/Sapphire run with Wallace's team & moves). It'd be fun.
Great run, i always love it when a challenge isn't just "can i beat the game with this one pokemon?" By the way, did you throw the "every 4th week is a non pokemon run"-concept out of the window? Maybe i missed an announcement of sorts but i always loved your fallout/elder scrolls runs
Hey, Mah-Dry-Bread, I gotta ask: It's been a while since you did an Elder Scroll and/or Fallout Challenge. Are you gonna do any of them, soon? Or, maybe, another new game challenge? So, that the runs don't leave you unmotivated?
Just wondering, is all. When you told us, on your first Elder Scroll Challenge, that the Pokémon Challenge runs were starting to stale and are planning to do a different challenge every month, I gotten a bit worried when you didn't do either for a good while. I'm hoping the runs aren't making you unmotivated to make new videos. And, I love your videos. I hope you don't stop doing what you love.
Anyway, good luck on your challenge!
I don't watch any of his non-Pokemon runs (mostly because I've never played or watched any of them), but I agree that he should do more of them. I bet they're fun to watch too!
@@robertlupa8273 They're really good. You should watch them.
I wish I had time to do them more often, but I've been taking that 4th week of the month to have more time for my personal life. I want to do more non-Pokemon challenges, I just don't have very much time
@@MahDryBread Why not take a month to off the challenge uploads (since your continuous uploads should keep you in the algorithm) to make one or two ES or Misc. Runs?
@@KnightofChaosDeck I can't take a month off work for the same reason as everyone else, bills have to get paid
I saw another commenter post this, and liked it so much I thought I'd make it more visible.
A gen 1 run with Blane's team, but every other turn you flip a coin to see whether you use an item, and then a spinner to see what you have to use, with potions, super potions and whatever other items he uses.
An interesting idea for a challenge would be gen 5 with only deerling. It’s about as strong as a first form starter.
Yeeeesss!!! Show my little girl some love!!! :))) I love deerling
"Fissure."
"But Earthquake is more reliable and does big dam---"
"FISSURE."
Giovanni should've at least used Sandslash instead of Rhyhorn.
A lot of Gen I Ground, Fighting and Rock (most of which are half Ground anyway) types are basically glorified Normal types with different weaknesses/resistances (very few moves per type besides Dig, EQ, Fissure which is unreliable, Rock Slide, Rock Throw, HJK but only for Hitmonlee, Submission, Karate Chop, and Counter and Seismic Toss whose types are just cosmetic). Bug types were just an afterthought and either glorified Normal or Poison types. I get that ghosts and dragons are rare but only 1 move for Dragon and 2 for Ghost (two of which's types are just cosmetic) isn't enough to establish them. Ice types were all Water except Jynx (who is herself half Psychic), so Ice was more of a move type than a Pokemon type, and strongly associated with Water types (I know what ice is made of but still).
There are just 8 types in Gen I: Normal, Fire, Water, Grass, Flying, Electric, Poison and Psychic. Change my mind
*Edit: Forgot about Night Shade so editrd my comment to account for it
There are only 4 types in Gen 1 : Psychic, Normal, Electric and Trash.
It truly is the man that makes the Pokémon and not the other way around. Dugtrio MVP!
Here's a (not) fun idea, beating Pokemon red or blue with only status moves, like you could start with Bulbasaur, and grind it up until it learns leech seed and then you'd advance from there, you'd be able to use metronome too since that's technically a status move, It might actually be really helpful. Might. lol
edit: Well i'd be fun for us but maybe not you, lol I'd really be interested to see how you get though like Erika and Koga, because I think powder moves and leech seed don't work against grass types (I think, Gen 1 is weird) once you get Toxic though it might get easier
Powder moves and leech seed still dont work even in Gen 8, but thats by design
Does willowisp exist in gen1
@@joshuasmith6105 No I don't think so
I would've allowed myself to use his Kangaskhan from the Silph battle, but that has some consistency issues certain people may get upset at, so I can see why you opted out.
I love your content MDB. I know you're trying to hit a better work/life balance too though. Might I suggest something to reduce grinding time? What if you made a rule that, if you've beaten every trainer in an area you can then use rare candies instead of wild pokemon?
The new emulator border seriously looks amazing. I'm pretty sure I've been following you since the magikarp run, like most of your subs, so it's fantastic that you're still doing these
Actually Squirtle would have been the worst for you to fight, since Bulbasaur is part poison, which is weak to ground.
My guess would be he didn't pick to face Squirtle because Blastoise replaces Gyarados who is, theoretically, tougher than Exeggutor
The challenge has to be possible to win.
I truly love these challenges. Maybe you could try every gym leader? Blaine's team would surely need some redemption haha. Good video as usual.
I'm definitely not a fan of the new border. Can't really say why, I just don't like it lol
Huh! How was I not subscribed? I've been watching you for forever.
Corrected! Thanks for the great video :)
Pokemon red/blue with only psychic type pokemon but no psychic type moves.
That Sounds incredible easy cause kadabra Thunderbolt Spam
So just started the video and 1 minute in: I originally thought just Giovanni's pokemon and i was like "yeah this is going to be bad, but probably..." -- then I noticed "& moves" -- good luck! My prediction is that you will take this EVENTUALLY, but you might need to overlevel your team, and I predict most of them will be fainting every battle against the elite four doing chip damage...
Maybe do a Blaine Team run, but as an extra rule you have to use a super potion first turn on every gym leader match :D
MDB on top of the UA-cam Algorithms, let’s hope it’s a hell x fossil run. You are the GOAT 🐐. LOVE you dude thanks for the regular uploads.
Instead of over leveling dugtrio you should have leveled up the whole team together and used them all. Would have been more entertaining.
Ya ever heard of time restraints?
It is indeed the Super Gameboy that your emulator is...well, emulating. My brother managed to snag a Japanese Super Gamboy 2 while I was able to snag a retro cart for Pokémon Green using the Pokémon Blue script. When I put that I'm, it used the Pokémon Green border, so that was really cool.
Also, notice how your Red border uses the *old* Gen 1 sprites? That's another really cool detail.
I’m loving the new emulator! It’s pleasing to look at! I predict you can, but the ice trainer in the elite four will be a brick wall
Edit 1: Finally got around to finishing the video because… Life. Anyways, Blaine is the Arian Ryan of pokemon. Nuff said
Edit 2: Knew it…
One day, MDB will say he took the dome fossil and no one will catch it, then will rewind to see if they heard correctly.
Terrible moves yet you still do it? Awesome! Also week number i dont count for pokemon platinum with only one water onix.
Great vid as always MDB! I know you have said that you don't speed up the game, but with how long some of these grinds are I feel like it might be a better use of your time to do so without it affecting the content. I watch more for the strategy of how you get through anyway, plus you could always talk about the length of the grind in in-game hours!
Love the videos but I hope you get enough time off as well!
You poke fun at him every gen 1 video, now I wanna see you try and beat the games with only Blain's team xD
You probably could have finished at a lower level if you had used more Dire Hits!! Great vid
I would love to see a Vulpix only run in a Generation of your Choice! It's my favourite and i would love to see what you can do with it!
Greetings from Bavaria! You're doing an awesome job!
Lol that dragonair strategy... I absolutely love how broken gen 1 is

I hope that someone gets this so I don't look like a total weirdo. 🤣 Also, this may be one of the few times where the Exp. All would've been useful.
I gotchu fam. I even read your comment in my head with Mudvayne's voices. Nice to see I'm not the only old person (jk, haha) who watches these videos. Did not expect a great metal song from my childhood to be in a pkmn video, but that just goes to show good taste in unbounded when it comes to interests. Have a good one bro :)
Pretty sure that's the Stadium GB Tower border for Red, but it's been a long while since I last had my N64 out. Does this emulator default to that Red border for all Pokemon games, or do all six of the GB/GBC era games have their own respective Stadium/Stadium 2 borders?
As I recall, you could change at will between 3ish options, regardless of the game you play. Might be wrong, though, but you're right, the background was found in Stadium's GB Tower!
3:18 I play Pokemon since 1999 and I was today years old when I learned that there is a Moon Stone in the Wall.
I was just about to comment on how cute the new border is as you started talking about it 💖
These runs are pretty sick!! It probably wouldn't be too hard (given the Pokemon he uses), but it'd be cool to see you play through the game using the secret Oak Team that was datamined years back!!
Possible suggestion: black 2 with only in game trades run. Because you get the grass type you would from black version, you get 3 Pokemon the entire run with pretty much no coverage as the 3rd pokemon you get is another grass type right before the 8th gym. Yes you get gigalith but that's still quite a bit of the game with just petilil/lilligant. Is this bad as the emerald situation, no because you get stronger pokemon just less type variety. But its also painful because there are 3 post game trades that would be great to have during the main game.
Nice run, although the star was certainly Dugtrio.
Btw I would like you to pick a different fossil than usual next time just to surprise us :P
I’m grateful you told me about the helix fossil since I wouldn’t have been able to sleep at night not knowing which one you took. 😂
That board ist from the SNES, when you use an adapter to play GameBoy games on it and that has mostly been the way I played Pokemon when I was little so this is very nostalgic for me, i love it!!
Super Gameboy shoutout! That thing was the coolest thing ever!
Great video! Have you ever considered a Pokemon Coliseum or XD run?

Imagine being a crime lord with ground type pokemon and then being beaten by a new pokemon Trainer 10 year old, who has the same pokemon as you.
Since the remakes of Diamond and Pearl are coming out soon, I think you should do Platinum with a team of just one Spiritomb.
Ah that border gives me memories. Growing up in eastern Europe in late 90'-early 00' I didn't have Gameboy, so emulation and Pokemon Red with the same border was my first exposure to this franchise. Now thinking about it, I'm really surprised I was able to (almost) beat it, with me being 10, not knowing English that well and not having easy access to internet.
I am looking forward to that Kenshi video, whenever it comes out. Takes the time you need to do it right without exhausting yourself.
Yesssss I've been looking for this video foreverrrrr thank you for finally doing it
Oh boy, a challenge with both Rhyhorn and Rhydon. Sad that my favorite Pokémon completely suck in Gen 1 but still nice to see them on a team in general
It's always a highlight of the week to watch these videos.
I'd ask for a Gen 3/4 run with only a Rhyhorn, but I am wondering if it is even possible to beat those games with any of the evolutionary line...
At least they can learn surf. I have no clue how it doesn't sink immediately but it can use it. It's right up there with doduo using fly. Sadly, doduo doesn't learn quick attack.
There's actually an episode in the anime of Rhydon using surf which looks hilarious when you keep in mind how heavy it is.
i mean rhydon is competitively if you give it actually good moves.
With the exception of Blaine after Sabrina, every gym leader is strong against the type that was used in the previous gym. I find that interesting
Did you include picking up the Moon Stone before getting "What fossil did you take?" so you are really hammering in that you are indeed recording a new one every video? ;)
6:08 MDB on such autopilot he didn’t realize that dig was the reason ember missed
This was super fun to watch! You did an awesome job! ❤️
I think I suggested this run on another video...glad it was picked. Now for a hard-core run, can you beat Pokémon Fire Red with a team of only 1 Caterpie.
I love these types of challenges. Maybe next time we play DPPt with only Cynthia’s Pokemon 😂.
This is actually a pretty cool concept, using the team and moves of an NPC trainer
6:09 - Growlithe missed cause you used Dig, not the 256 glitch lol 😆
I think it would be neat to see a run where you are only allowed to select the move "Assist". Similar to the metronome run, but with more strategy than chance.
I'd love to see that.
I was rewatching this, and i had an idea for a run: how about ruby/sapphire/emerald but you try to copy Wally's team?
To answer the Bruno used Thunderpunch on Dugtrio question... Bruno uses random moves, he doesn't actually have good AI (maybe because he'd spam counter on Hitmonchan when you have a normal Pokémon?)
