I've watched the video a few times. Great fishing there. Was wondering your thoughts on fishing for these from kayak out in the deep. I have some deep diver crank baits and spinners I was going to bring on ultralight gear. I'm just worried about major boat traffic on weekends.

I would think it’s definitely doable with the right timing. From 6 am to 10 am you should be fine. From about 11am to 5-6pm can get pretty rough. Then from 6- dark it is normally decent. This spot gets pounded by people that troll frequently and they will get very close sadly. However, that entire area from the islands to the beach point is good for trolling for hybrids. They will come up schooling in the evenings and you can catch them on top water if you time it right.

Living only 35 minutes from Patoka I haven’t fished it for hybrids or stripers yet. Guided for stripers and hybrids for 20 years and fished professionally for them in tournaments as well. I’ve lived in the Bedford area for 11 years now but work gets in the way.

I would highly recommend it in the summer. They get stack up on the main lake and it can be very fun!

@@cw_outdoor_adventures they can be caught most of the year. Just have to learn their movements. In February down in Tennessee we sometimes caught them in a foot of water.

It’s not uncommon at Patoka either to do that. It just seems like they are much easier to get on and have a great day on them in the summer. Very rarely do we catch anything smaller than the 17” area.

@@cw_outdoor_adventures we fish for them below the damn in Leavenworth. Haven’t broke the 15 pound mark, but lots of 10-13 pounds and a couple over 14

Are the hybrids relating to structure? Ive caught two walleye but haven’t caught a hybrid yet out of 4 trips. Seems like all i catch are catfish and yellow bass

95% of the hybrids I catch are related to topographical structures. Humps, points or flats, but mostly main lake humps in the summer. You’ll even find them suspended over (seemingly) nothing some times, that’s why a lot of people troll for them. I have never used live bait for them. However, chick livers work extremely well for some reason. I throw a swimbait or an Alabama rig for them almost always. The Alabama rig is a confidence bait for me because it’ll catch a bunch of fish. The yum flash mob jr is the best. 3 hooks and 2 teasers or sometimes just leaving them empty. Depends on what I have in the boat.
Those were some nice walleye you caught as well. Saw them on Facebook. Congrats!

@@cw_outdoor_adventures thanks, and im hooked on them walleye. It will be fun trying to figure them out. I cant pick them out on sonar yet. But both times I caught them, they were around big schools of catfish and yellow bass. I subbed so i will be patiently waiting for the next patoka lake video

They can hug pretty close to the bottom and be hard to find sometimes on the graph. Appreciate the sub!

Appreciate the feedback. The fish swam off fine. I would suggest proofreading comments before posting.
