Still rocking a 1080ti and have no need to upgrade yet. This card is a legend.
And its pretty affordable right now.

Bruno Yuji not really here in the uk with new prices 1080 is still around 520 gpu 250 thats 770 there so in the uk with new parts which i will only buy its impossible

I got my MSI GTX 1080 GAMING X for $400, i5 6500 for $150, ASRock H110M-ITX/ac $40, 2x8GB Crucial Ballistix 2400MHz $85, Crucial MX300 750GB $99, Fractal Node 304 $50, Corsair CXM 550W $50. Total including tax = $874.
If I consider that the 1080Ti will cost me $779+tax = $849.
Although I have to admit I got some insanely low prices on the parts. Black Friday and a lot of sniping for bargains through slickdeals and /r/buildapcsales. I also got a WD Red 4TB for $114, but did not include it there because it's technically an extra.
Bruno Yuji here in the uk even used 1080 are still going for around 430 440 and thats cheap new they're around 530 but pc parts are generally a lot more in the uk probably import tax or whatever
still runs today with a 13600kf. it still keeps up with a 3060. I can do without raytracing.
RT is overrated anyways.
I went from a 3070 to an rx 6800xt with a 13600k. Just bought a white ftw3 for my co worker, still a great card.

Here in 2018 I can confirm that they did EXACTLY what you said and renamed the bios switches to standard and OC! LOL!

@@rjharris06 yep...and then they capped the slave/oc at 117% on these and the Kingpin so all of our cards were throttleing prematurely because power performance caps.
Incredible to see the progress already coming from the 1080 in terms of thermal dissipation
Still rocking this card in 2021 (now water-cooled) despite the lack of raytracing and DLSS. No regrets.
same bro i was going to get a 3070 but ended up getting this bad boy for $300. no regrets at all.
@@typpo6520 3070 is only a 14% upgrade so isn’t worth it. I’ve owned 3060ti,3070 and a 3080 not worth the extra 20-30fps on 1440p. Just got a 1080ti for 700$ and kept an extra 1400$ in my pocket
@@typpo6520 I building a new rig in 2022 and got one for like $300 as well. Got the Asus ROG 1080ti OC 11GB version. Still a bad boy of a card.

These cards are really durable. The metal shroud does a lot. I dropped a reference gtx1080 from desk height and it was fine.

Nice review ! I am amazed how Evga managed to improve heat dispersion so well that they even patent it ! Nothing left now just to upgrade my gpu & monitor ... what an upgrade that could be from my evga 970 and full hd 1080p to EVGA 1080Ti and 4k2k ! !

Nice! One question though, if you plug the cable into master bios, does your card run at normal MHz, while plugging it in slave bios makes it run at factory OC MHz? Or did I just fail miserably, trying to understand this? :)

I've bought this card yesterday,what's the exact difference between the two bioses? I mean,is there a visual difference between the value I can change on Precision X software?
yeah,,,i got one original and one with the renamed bios switch. Doesnt matter either way cause they capped th slave/oc bios at 117% as well. Check and make sure your really hitting 127% power on ur oc profile...bet u aint. Run Cinnebench 8K and check it with gpu-z sensors and you'll see your card is hitting performance cap at 117% and throttleing down. ALL FTW3's old bios name and new bios name, air or hydros, and the Kinpin as well. We had to reach out to Kingpin himself for help when EVGA slapped us in the face and tried to say Nvidia drivers were to blame. We proved them wrong by flashing a different bios and they still tried to deny it. Kingpin rewrote the bios for the Kingpin card for an individual in the forum and then happened to "stumble" across the fixxed bios for the ftw3's. So....check your oc bios with GPU-Z.

When you say the 'slave' setting on the dual bios is the one with the higher power target, do you mean it gets more power supplied to it for better performance or that it utilizes the existing power source more efficiently ?
Any place I can find the background music especially the one during the benchmarks ?

What OC did you get? I hit 2150mhz core and 12000mhz memory
I run at stock settings because I want the card to last many years and not quit working after several months to get meaningless 6% performance improvement.

Soooo, whats a dual-bios....thing? Jay was talking about it at 5:04. I thought bios was software stuff but when Jay was talking about it he was pointing to a certain spot on the GPU so I got a bit confused. Is it an actual physical thing or is it just labelled on the GPU and that is the thing he is pointing at?

Skrillz Playz ftw 1 is no longer produced ftw 2 has some problems with the vrm heat dissipation and ftw 3 is there to fix it.

@JayzTwoCents - a suggestion for the graphs... they go by pretty quick, would it be possible in later videos to change the color of the bar of the card/chip on the graph so it would be easier to see the which card your looking for??? just my two cents, no pun intended xD

My FTW3 card hits around 72c under load in a case with pretty good air flow are these normal temps as they are no where close to yours?

Why does PEOPLE hate noise on a CARD like this ? Do you Drive a SILENT SPORTS CAR now ? Honestly I would rather hit 100% fan speed. And Make it sound SUPER FAST and POWERFUL ! Bonus part is you get the MAX SPEED of the Card ! 50c and above will SURELY make a SPIKE 43c below temp will remove that spikes and will get you the highest stable clock you can get.
lal alonsabe When this thing gets loud, it gets _loud_ . If you use speakers, this might not be a good card for you if you keep your PC near your work area. Even some noise-isolating headphones might have trouble.

Xx Tek tip xX Not easy. This thing cost me just under $1500 in Canada. Had to work my ass off, sell my old computer, pray for a good tax return, and _still_ have to foot about $500 out of pocket to build a PC with this in after months of prep. GPU prices _suck_ right now.
