PaladinFury you can also smash the toddler with the side of the knife just like you smash that garlic or the opposite Cutting the garlic just like you cut that toddler works too
Spot on about the issues with adjusting the Potato express. You get a little used to it after a while, but there were some really simple ergonomic adjustments that wouldn't have altered the sleek appearance, and would have greatly improved usability. It does *feel* a little cheaper than you'd like, but we've been using ours for a while, and we haven't even had to replace the blade yet. It does come with a little tool for extracting the eyes, and shaving/cutting off the top and bottom skin does take a few extra seconds - But it you need to peel MANY potatoes, you can do that after loading the next one, and it can save a lot of time in the long run. Plus if you want to use the skins in anything (fried potato skins, vegetable spaghetti) - it's a nice fairly even strip that it shaves off.
If it's a slightly boiled potato, it would be a lot faster to just peel it with your fingers. The skin will come off in a few large pieces and you don't waste any of the flesh.
@@artificialworm Exactly this. You don't even need the gloves for that - a nail brush works just as well, but it's a major failing by Dan to not use water in the process. Seriously - who would use those without water?

Love my Potato Express, especially when I have a ton of potatoes to peel. Also with toss the peels afterward with a bit of olive oil and salt into the air fryer for a krispy fry treat, also great with apples and their peelings. If you have a hard time with hand mobility this bit of equipment is a game changer in meal preps.
I can't explain why, but these videos are so interesting and entertaining!! And I've never even thought twice about the importance of great design for kitchen gadgets!
All other food videos I watch seem to argue that single purpose appliances are garbage, so there seems to be a big anti-trend about even using "kitchen gadgets" at all. That's why I find this guy a breath of fresh air. He's not against having gadgets, he just improves them.
Me : rub oil in my left hand before using the blender My home economic teacher : what the hell are you doing ? Me : sir, the thought that you didn't know this technique has left me disappointed
I have a rotato express, and for me it is great! The biggest tip I can give for using it is: When in operation rest a finger on the top arm with just a little pressure to keep the spike from backing out.
As someone who loves to cook, but has disabilities, and is gradually losing functioning of my hands, taking the care to think about what a person with hand/dexterity issues would require is a breath of fresh air.
I would say the potato mitts are meant for use under running water which could raise the question of wasting water... It would be interesting to see their performance if the potato skin is constantly being washed away, therefore, increasing usability for more surface area to peel with.
There's actually this garlic peeler thing, it's essentially just a flexible rubber tube with tiny little rubber teeth on the inside, it's super easy to use (just roll it on a hard surface with garlic inside) and is surprisingly useful. No this isn't an ad, I don't even remember the brand I got it from. But it was awesome
Best peeler for potatoes, carrots, beets, ginger and the like is literally a spoon. Nothing beats it. Press thumb against the back and face the edge down, and peel away from you using the edge to scrape. Easier and less wasteful than a knife (even if you're amazing with a knife, you will still cut away some of the flesh - although you can nearly nullify this using the back of the knife to scrape instead of cutting with the sharp edge), just as fast or faster, and you can't cut yourself either. Even plastic spoons work.
yes of course, when you can do it, but there is something that make some of those gadgets usefull, pdisabled people often need them because they just can't do simple things like that.

His parents: 1:11
After he gets an A: 2:27
F Viecca lol I was laughing so hard🤣🤣🤣
I felt that
LMFAO, I AGREE 😅🤣
@ehud kotegaro no it isn't
100+ "a bit great" 😂(my dad once told me to get 100 for the correctness of my answers and additional marks for a beautiful handwriting) and he's an African parent.
For some reason this guy always brightens my day
I don't know why UA-cam recommended this to me, but I am glad
"what is my purpose in life?"
"you peel onions"
......
"Oh my god"
why did i spend 2 minutes trying to press the dots until realizing it won’t do anything
i really appreciate that this guy is calling attention to the importance of gadgets for folks with mobility issues and assessing these things on that basis
Him shaking that garlic peeler looking is dead in the eye
I dont cook much, I'm not a gadget kind of guy. But i cant stop watching this guy. He's so nice!
This dude is like modern Da Vinci
Haha true
Oh yes, totally. He is so similar to a person that tried to invent amazing stuff. Especially when he makes things that no one really cares about.
A soft rock, he's sweet but can hurt
Love my Potato Express, especially when I have a ton of potatoes to peel. Also with toss the peels afterward with a bit of olive oil and salt into the air fryer for a krispy fry treat, also great with apples and their peelings. If you have a hard time with hand mobility this bit of equipment is a game changer in meal preps.
When you’re early and there’s no funny comments yet

I also like to use the left handed oil technique. Usually when I’m by myself.
"there is a lot of finger action going on"
"Let's go deep here"
....
I shall excuse myself..
Ester Aquino I was cackling a bit too loud there
@@kt27066 especially since he said it in such a serious way!! 😂
Ester Aquino ikr I was like... he’s too then 😂

Gonna go do some finger action?
I can't explain why, but these videos are so interesting and entertaining!! And I've never even thought twice about the importance of great design for kitchen gadgets!
Onion Peeler: What is my purpose in life?
Dan: You peel onions.
Onion Peeler: Oh my god!
All other food videos I watch seem to argue that single purpose appliances are garbage, so there seems to be a big anti-trend about even using "kitchen gadgets" at all.
That's why I find this guy a breath of fresh air. He's not against having gadgets, he just improves them.
Me : rub oil in my left hand before using the blender
My home economic teacher : what the hell are you doing ?
Me : sir, the thought that you didn't know this technique has left me disappointed
This man is so wholesome and so thoughtful
I think the potato peeler would be a much more effective jar opener. Put on those mitts and I bet you could open any jar big or small.
10:50 There actually is a peeler/grater design similar to this! Usually sold as ginger graters and rather small, they do use the same concept.
5:20 why one shrimp took him 30 seconds😂😂😂 im peeling in 3 seconds LITERALLY
I have a rotato express, and for me it is great! The biggest tip I can give for using it is: When in operation rest a finger on the top arm with just a little pressure to keep the spike from backing out.
When he put those gloves on, I finally figured out who he reminds me of; THE DAD FROM HOLES
As someone who loves to cook, but has disabilities, and is gradually losing functioning of my hands, taking the care to think about what a person with hand/dexterity issues would require is a breath of fresh air.
"Gifts for someone you don't like" I love it
Yay Dan's back at it again!! He's the best
"It kinda made me wanna cry. And it wasn't the onion. "
Damn.
I love Dan Formosa doing product testing videos plz make more they are great
"At this point, I wonder why I'm not using a potato piller"
Hahaha we all been there xDDD!!!
It's Saturday night and I'm watching a design expert peeling a shrimp... My life can't go better
Damn that onion skin peeler was so rubbish🤣
I’m gonna *cry* with laughter
The pans to his face with a blank expression followed by “still not great” killed me. 2:27
9:12 That's certainly a way to peel a potato with a knife.
He's an engineer, not a chef.
And it still won the speed test.
@@1D991 it's basic kitchen skills tho
I would say the potato mitts are meant for use under running water which could raise the question of wasting water... It would be interesting to see their performance if the potato skin is constantly being washed away, therefore, increasing usability for more surface area to peel with.
it kinda made me want to cry and it wasn't the onion. THE BURNN😂
God I love this man. Everything about him is just so amazing and wholesome
The designers of the products are probably here taking notes so they can redesign the product 😂😂😂
fatima 239 You’d think.
But it was awesome
next vid: priceless paintings improved by a design expert
"Let's just remove all the clothes and go for a more au naturale"
can they also do that to your profile pic?
AkumaDayo oof
Seeing him test for people with dexterity problems made me feel good, I feel heard!
The shadiest senior citizen in the internet.
“I would buy this for someone I don’t like.... if it were on sale”
The peeler gloves work best when all your potatoes are in water, so when you move your hands you not only peel you clean the gloves at the same time.
