It's better to use a short pvc pipe of slightly small diameter to join both ends of the drain hose. Since pipe is rigid it can hold both ends better and putting sealant/glue is easier.
I do not think this is good idea join two drain pipes. (1) Use a quick glue, (2) Use a teflon tape to tighten and close the tiniest gaps, and/or (3) Use a circular clip which is tightened using a screw.
