While the majority of our performances are of music composed between 1600-1800, really we are focused on Historically Informed Performance Practice (ie HIP Quartet). While our Romantic Quartet program featured early 19th century works (which would not be considered “Baroque”), they performed on gut strings and implemented period appropriate rubato, portamenti, and other practices. The early music movement is certainly centered around the Baroque, but we are eager to explore performance practice in the medieval, renaissance, Baroque, classical, and romantic!
