What could Ukitake's Bankai be? Do you have any ideas? Let me know!

    • @QrowxClover
      @QrowxClover 2 роки тому +14

It has to be related to Shikai, as all Bankai are. So keeping that in mind, it could be:
1- Simple power boost to the abilities he fires back
2-Gain the power to reflect physical attacks
3-Gain the power to STORE abilities and use them at will
4-Gain the ability to use all of the Reiatsu from the attacks he's absorbed into his Shikai
That's all I can really think of.

Just an idea but as he releases his bankai the sky begins to rain. Nobody else can be in the area when his bankai is active. His blades become 2 twin fish that travel through the rain, losing his ability to fight back with his swords, but the rain slowly saps the reitsu from his opponent and stores it into the fish until they reach a critical level. Then the fish reveal themselves close to the opponent and fire it all back at his opponent. If he is attacked the fish will jump in to defend him at the cost of the stored reitsu. The rain doesn't discriminate similar to illness so allies caught in it would also get their reitsu taken.
Idk I feel his ability would be something very busted, but limited due to him being ill. Also similar to shunsui he can't use it with other allies around.

Yet he was coughing the moment we met him as a Captain during Rukia's rescue arc. And most require (with zaraki being the exception) that in order to become a Captain you must've obtained Bankai. Suggesting (at least to me) that his Bankai is strong enough (or perhaps something he memorized?) that his body is dying/decaying faster than normal.
A theory, but still something neat to think about.

@tink5488 nah, we know why he was coughing, and why he didn't then.
He basically has a time limit he can be out of bed, and the more active he is, the shorter the time limit is. He also needs to sustain not only himself, but Mimihagi too. He has to sustain two being at once, at all times, hence the time limit existing.
Logically, theory is that Mimihagi runs out of time first, so can't function as Ukitake's lungs properly, so he coughs up blood and is severely weakened as a result.

The one Bankai I'd have loved to see that never got revealed was Kira's. His shikai being so powerful as is and his character is criminally under utilized, same with Momo actually. The vice captains bankai in general would be interesting to see but Kira had one of my favorite shikai in the series.

    • @BlackangelKatakuri
      @BlackangelKatakuri 2 роки тому +21

Agreed . I don't see Momo getting one for a very long time. As for Kira I like to think it's power would be similar to Shunsuis in that the damage you've dealt to the user before the activation of Bankai effects the enemy somehow but in Kiras case the sins aka damage inflicted on Kira causes the opponent to be weighed down. This continues to build up until they are crushed

  • @hexon336

My theory is that Ukitake's powers revolve around the concept of "flow" or "currents". Much like water or electrical currents, his shikai allows him to redirect attacks by altering it's path and speed using his swords and talismans. His bankai can be similar but on a much larger scales. It would give him great defensive capabilities as well as offensive ones but using enemy attacks against them. I would also add that he can halt the flow of attacks as well putting them into a stasis which would also help add mimihage's abilities into Ukitake's.

  • @mra3076
    @mra3076 2 роки тому +76

My Bankai theory is that Ukitake’s five tags that connect his Shikai swords transform into five idols connecting by a chain. Representing how Ukitake’s parents prayed to Mimihagi for him to survive his illness. These five idols are giant statues and represent different Japanese gods. Ukitake can summon and teleport these idols at will and they have an amplified version of his Shikai abilities. One idol can absorb a blast and another in any other position could project the blast. So for example Ukitake could be fighting someone and absorb a blast and he’d use another idol to help out another Shinigami elsewhere.

I really like the idea that Ukitake has a wind based bankai. Think about it, his whole life was based around staying in place. The Soul kings hand, his shikai, his death, they all wanted to preserve. His bankai was never used because he couldn't use it in life, because the wind is dynamic. It always shifts. It was his antithesis.

I think his bankai becoming total reflections of people he's crossed Blades with in the past, or simply the person he's fighting at the time, would be cool. Play into the idea of reflection, but also his zanpaktos spirits being children, playing a game of mimicry. This would be great if he had 0 control of them while in this state, including who they decide to reflect.
If it's someone from his past, I can see this playing into his melancholic nature, perhaps even with a condition that the more painful the memory of the person is, the more powerful the bankai becomes. This could show off characters we've only ever heard about from the past, and could also be seen as a form of SELF reflection for ukitake.
We could see ukitake begging his blades to become a specific person and then outright refusing because of the emotional pain itb would put their master through, even if it's the clearest path to victory.

I think his bankai could be a “sealing” type of ability. Possible creating a vortex of somekind that sucks in and seal’s away his enemies. It would kind of fit his character and it would explain why he was taken out of the Aizen fight so soon bc it probably would have been really useful against him.

I think that thing Ukitake was saying in the beginning of hell chapter can be a hint to his bankai. He says that he had two fishes in childhood, and one of the fishes died but another become stronger because of that. So probably he will sacrifice one of the abilities to max out the other one. Like, he gives up ability to reflect attacks for an ideal shield, or gives up his absorption ability for an ultimate offensive ability.

The fact that Ukitake had been holding the Mimihagi inside of him from the start, he was the strongest Captain all along! Going off the idea of reflection and the rain, a possibility is that the rain basically becomes his shield as it were. So when an attack is launched, the rain absorbs it, bounces it between the drops and then launches it back with far more power and from multiple different angles focused to a point or over a large area.

Ukitake’s bankai definitely needs to have a reality-warping element to it, similar to Unohana’s and Shunsui’s.
Something like the 3rd theory sounds most plausible where it starts to rain when activated and he is surrounded by an impenetrable bubble. This bubble ripples when enemies attack, and also has the ability to reflect, dealing the enemies damage against themselves.
If you want to make it even more OP, add it the element of lightning as a form of offence, with the rain.
This would be a bankai worthy to contend with the other 2 OG captains.

I'm a little early in the video & thought about why Jushiro's Zanpakuto was huge in hell arc. One reason is of course him possibly being a "guardian of hell" but another reason can also be something that Isshin mentioned early on in the Arrancar arc which was the fact that "strong soul reapers" have to condense their Zanpakutos because if they weren't they'd be as big as skyscrapers. Which also kind of proves how strong Jushiro can actually be if he wasn't ill the whole time.

The only new story things we got during the first 9 episodes were who attacked Rukia and much needed expansions on Sasakibe; that is, we don't know what end Rose's battle with Nanana had, we still don't ever see Kensei or Mashiro in the first invasion, we don't learn who Ukitake's fighting, we still don't get what Shinji's running towards and why he never arrives...
We got battle extensions and also got to see the first Gotei 13, which was a nice "show, don't tell" addition to the manga where we're just told what they're capable of. But besides hype, it doesn't really add much substance, since it's just information we know presented differently.

If Kyokaru has wind and shadows, Ukitake should have water and lighting bankai no doubt. The idea of sealing the enemy’s technique for while it’s good! 1. Ukitake doesn't have to attack you with it - but he can

It's truly a shame we didn't get more of Ukitake, and like many others out there I am hoping that his story has not ended and we will get to see more of him and his elusive bankai someday. I think all of the ideas presented are certainly plausible and cool, and I was really hyped to see him in BBS for the Beyond Bankai captains with the hope of getting an answer about his bankai. If I had to guess, I'd say it is likely the first idea, a sort of absorption that grants him some of the attackers power, or skillset. For some enemies this would be very clear cut, but for others it would be very fun and interesting to imagine what he would gain!

With the whole twin fish and lightning aesthetic, something i was thinking of while watching this is that maybe it could be something like Izanagi in Naruto- in the moment he would be attack, like the split second in the flash of lightning, he’d like... split reality and be able to not die instead. It also ties into how he’s chronically ill, his bankai making him become the embodiment of the moment between life and death, as theyre opposites but also similar? I think it ties into everything- his illness, his protective nature, the lighting flashes, the twin fish.

I do hope we get to see his Bankai. He’s my favorite character and not seeing it was a huge blow, along with him dying altogether.
I like the idea that his his Bankai would actually be an ability for his zanpakuto to call forth all of the powers he’s ever absorbed with Shikai. So, say he and Rukia sparred both using Shikai. Now, he can use Sode no Shirayuki. No doubt he and Shunsui sparred together, so he would probably be able to use Katen Kyokotsu. But most terrifyingly, we know he also fought against Yamamoto using Shikai. Soooooo…he could potentially unleash Ryujin Jakka. The potential of this is fun to think about.
I also like the idea of rain, and then the water pooling and becoming a reflection that he’s able to use somehow.

my idea for his bankai; his two blades turn into two large fish, one black, one white. they swim through the ground and follow the direction of Ukitake's hands. both fish can absorb attacks by eating/swallowing them, or batting them away with their tails. and when Ukitake wants it, spit out all the collected spirit energy. possibly, while they're under, they could also be sharing the spirit energy they collected. so that when only one fish has been catching the attacks, a surprise attack could be fired from the other one. instead of the cord connecting them, it's the ground they're swimming in that connects them.

For whatever reason, he relies on the English Official Viz translation, which is notoriously bad at being accurate.

@@Bandit-0073 It is. Typically the Anime is given more care as far as translations are concerned, although even that can vary from language to language, even country to country.
With the manga translations however manga companies typically hire some random to do the translation, which is one reason why it can more often than not be less accurate than the anime sub and dub. Localization also sorta gets in there too. (Like maybe taking cursing out, or taking out Japanese honorfics like -kun and -san. I know in Naruto Official Viz English manga they refer to the teachers as "Master" rather than Sensei, yet in the dub and the sub, they keep that honorific of Sensei.) Part of it means he has to speak the true name (doesn't work on fake names or titles) and it either gives him a copy of they're weapon(s) or abilities Or creates a perfect way to beat that opponent however it doesn't tell him exactly how to beat them it only gives him the correct tools to do so and he has to use his mind to figure out the winning strategy

I like your idea about the area starting to rain.. I would like that to happen but when the enemy attacks he doesn’t have to absorb it with his blade.. it gets sucked into the atmosphere and can be shot down at any angle and at anytime by him.. also the more energy that is absorbed the more violent the thunder gets.. last I think the energy from a blocked physical strike can be absorbed into his blade so when he does go offensive it’s much stronger, effectively giving his perfect defense

Let's not forget that October is the month where Halloween resides and it would be fitting for the new arc. Better yet, perhaps a new chapter will release on Halloween day.

Instead of looking at his Shikai's theme as absorbing and redirecting I like to think of it as change and alteration, as that is what his Zanpakutō does to any attack it absorbs. So as Bankai's tend to be the inverse of the Shikai that would embody stability or immutability, which reflects more of Mimihagi's personality. As for its powers I see it being encompassing a wide area of effect, much like Shunsui's, and sealing away everyone's abilities and reverting them back to their base forms. It is a simple but powerful ability if used correctly, fitting of one of the oldest captains. Also if Mimihagi could stabilize and momentarily reseal the powers of the Soul King I think Ukitake should be able to do something similar if on a much smaller scale.

I'd have to rewatch/reread FKT to be sure, but an important part to any theory about any unrevealed bankai is why it wasn't used. We've seen the effect of Shunsui's and Shinji's (in the novel) and why they wouldn't use it before, we've seen Unohana's motivation. For the unrevealed, we were at least given hints about Isshin's that it's a great strain on his body, but Ukitake and Aizen are complete mysteries, not to even speak of Yoruichi. It's a tall order to engineer a bankai and a suitable situation to reveal it in while also justifying why it wasn't used before, and certainly if you don't want to repeat said reasons too much.

Touching more on the look than the ability, and I've commented this on a few videos; if we look at his Shikai and Beyond Bankai and the talismans and shrine rope and all of that, it has a very distinct theme there, like a priestly theme like you said.
I think his Bankai should be a large shrine area of effect. It is still a Bankai and should still be big, like you were kind of saying with Shunsui's and Ukitake's having rain, but like more tang ible and bigger. I'm thinking a large fenced shrine with a tori gate blocked by the rope of his Beyond Bankai, talismans everywhere, and the fight takes place within this shrine, an ultimate defense that the enemy has to enter and impose themselves to participate, within which Ukitake's abilities can react and respond to the opponent, whatever those abilities may be.
That would incorporate the design that Mimihagi was enshrined as well both in worship and literally within Ukitake, while still keeping the ability Ukitake's own.

I think it's very simple. His shikai can absorb attacks and spit them out. His bankai should be a logical extension of that power. Basically an idea I've had is his bankai can reuse any attack it has ever absorbed/recorded. An interesting foundational basis for it lining up in terms of meta is we've seen something like this in the Bount arc with the stone fish doll that could absorb and fire kido and other attacks. Another would be during the imposter arc with kageroga using the dangai world to copy anything that's gone through its portal.

Yeah I had something similar speculating within the framework of balance, water, lightning, reflection, twins way back in FKT arc
He creates a giant smooth reflective waterfall, it looks ethereal because of the laminar flow which shouldn't be possible given its size.
The reflection of the target steps out with all of the abilities he's encountered from the target thus far because it gauges the amount and type of reiatsu utilized.
If he slices the target with either blade, he can allow another reflection(updated if that person uses any new abilities) to step out and attack.
The second part to it is that a dark cloud forms over the target and then he can sacrifice a reflection copy of the target, it'll vanish and a lightning strike comes down on that opponent.
So yeah pretty strong but a couple of kinda weaknesses for it
So each copy is mostly designated to taking on its source as limited by Ukitake's knowledge, so certain enemies could hold back stronger abilities and/or good team work could exploit by switching dance partners and taking someone else's copy granted, they have to still contend with Ukitake himself.
Also maybe for every reflection copy he has out, it'll put some strain on him given his illness back when he was younger it wasn't too much of an issue now he doesn't have such luxury (may not be relevant with the hell stuff).
Also the waterfall itself could be attacked but only with the right attack of sufficient power to dry it up or freeze it.
    So Yamamoto, Toshiro, Rukia etc
I kinda wanted him to take on Harribel with all the water stuff TBH

I feel like his bankai would be most similar to the first version you stated and personally that’s similar to the idea I had for his bankai.
I had assumed he would have a direct upgrade where he could still absorb and redirect attacks but instead of firing it out right away he could instead choose to store it. While stored I assumed the power would stay the same but the real kicker would be if he absorbs more than one attack in which case he could combine and multiply the powers of the two attacks and fire them back, for example if he took a cero and a fire kido attack he could fire them back together creating a fiery cero. Of course there’s more that you could do with that besides a fiery cero but since a cero is what we’ve seen him fire off I thought it was a good example.

The last form is actually OP but I would expand in that even in that form, he has different "wavelengths" depending on what attacks he is going against. Stronger attack = bigger wavelengths. He can choose to just absorb it in his longer sword if he chooses to fight that way or fire the attack back to the enemy in an even stronger form of reiatsu. The reflection is one that can come from any direction and invisible to the naked eye. Ukitake couldn't control what body part it hits on the enemy but if the enemy doesn't know the reflection, it's a hit each time

His Shikai and its command makes sense if you think about it.
All waves, rise now and become my shield: It "blocks" and absorbs energy attacks (from what we've seen officially) and that absorbed attack "flows" through the rope and the attached charms.
which leads nicely into the second part of the release command.
Lightning strike now and become my blade: In which the second part of his Shikai effect, which is to increase the power and speed at which his counterattack using the earlier absorbed energy comes into play.

Here is a comment I posted on another video when the SAFWY summons came out:
Bit weird to see Jushiro have a Beyond Bankai ability before we actually get to see his Bankai but this design looks cool nonetheless. Yamamoto's design could've been better with like some flame ornaments on his body but then again, he already has a cloak of flames in his Bankai state.. but his missing left arm being composed entirely of flames is cool. Shunsui's also looks cool, this is what we should've got for his bankai instead of no change in appearance imo but whatever.
I found it weird how out of every Beyond Bankai character (Byakuya, Yamamoto, Shunsui and Jushiro), Jushiro is the only one that has part of another's abilities.. But I think I've figured it out: the only reason they made Jushiro absorb Shunsui's Kageoni ability was because Jushiro's Zanpakuto abilities lack its own offensive abilities without relying on the opponent to launch projectiles so with Jushiro absorbing Kageoni, his Beyond Bankai state would allow him to have some offensive projectile abilities of his own.
With that being said, his Beyond Bankai state gives us a possible idea of what his Bankai could've done. His shikai, from what we've seen so far, only allows him to absorb and reflects energy projectiles, whereas in his Bankai state, it may have allowed Jushiro to actually absorb techniques and moves themselves and use them repeatedly as if they were his own, even if they're not energy projectiles. Cos from what we've seen so far, the abilities of these Beyond Bankai's doesn't really differ from what their shikai/bankai could do.
Byakuya's beyond Bankai is basically him controlling the swords and petals as well as having a stronger Shūkei: Hakuteiken, Yamamoto is basically him manipulating and producing his Zanpakuto's flames with his body and using them in conjunction with his Hakuda. Shunsui's once again allows him to use a variety of children's games such as Bushōgoma the spinning top game and 2 other games I'm not sure of, and his ultimate is another children's game. But as you can see so far, every Beyond Bankai basically keeps the same abilities as their regular Zanpakuto with the inclusion of new moves so my theory about Jushiro's Bankai wouldn't be too much of a stretch.
So with Jushiro, his shikai allowing him to absorb and relaunch engery attacks. His bankai might've allowed him to absorb different techniques and utilise them with his own twist even if they're not energy projectiles, and his beyond bankai state also allows him to absorb techniques too and in this instance, he absorbed Shunsui's Kageoni which he can then use Kageoni's base ability of manipulating shadows and make it as if it's Jushiro's own and create more unique moves. In other words, his Beyond Bankai allows Jushiro to absorb an ability, then from the base aspects of that absorbed ability, he is able to manipulate it and use is as his own to create more moves of his own, based on that absorbed ability. Kageoni's aspect is the manipulation of shadows, Jushiro uses the aspect of shadow manipulation to create more moves involving shadows.

I think this is a great brain storm. Even though kubo got rushed to finish the whole story, i think he knew what he intended for Ukitake. Essentially Ukitake is still one of the most notable captains - speaking in terms of his capacity to fight, and that is only because he is pure enough embody a deity. Ukitake is only held back by a sickness. Mimihagi is something we really don't know much about either. And, just like everyone else with a Bankai, his spiritual power and personality have something to do with the bankai abilities. Because Mimihagi is directly connected to the Soul King, it makes sense that his ability has to do with Pisces and reflection (pisces back story is "earning a place in the heavens". Aphrodite and Eros = two hands of the soul king, pernida was the left hand, complimenting or being the opposite energy of who ukitake was, thus his abilities could also scale to his opponent, although his energy was more destructive then ukitake's energy.) what we don't know is just how strong mimihagi would have been if reflected in his bankai, because it was strong enough to save soul society.
Im guessing because the Soul King is this god figure that encapsulates all creation - there is nothing that is created that is not a quality of the soul king. When shunsui was fighting starrk, he mentioned that his Bankai could not be used. We know this because Shinjuu (an abbreviation of his bankai) doesn't discriminate, Shunsui also mentioned that Ukitake shouldn't use his bankai in front of others either. If Bleach Brave souls shows an ability beyond bankai, taking on the abilities of Shinjuu, then his ability is just that - because of mimihagi. Im betting that because ukitake is only alive because of mimihagi, that his bankai is just the SKs right hand, governing "stillness". What represents more "stillness" than obliterating the opponent with their own ability, and how else would a shinigami have that ability to replicate or use anyone elses ability if it were not for it being linked to a deity's ability. We see a fraction of that, a mimicry of that ability, from the research of the Quincy when they developed an instrument to take someone else's Bankai. I assume, because of Ywhach's all seeing eye, they figured this was the right hands ability was this type of ability, so they used it to steal bankai to overwhelm the other side. This makes sense because they lost the last fight against Yamaji, and now they know that Pernida is the left hand, but the Shinigami have the right hand. By using that instrument they are showing they know the ability of mimihagi and feel that if they use both powers from each hand of the soul king, they will win - which if it were not for the obvious trump card of our protagonist having the abilities of each race, they would have won.

if the Hell Arc does manifest, then I think the most surprising thing about this character will be his true personality. I think his Zanpaktou might end up being cool, but I think the main focus on this character will be his "true self". What I mean by this is, if we look at Unohana and Kyoraku, they were both presented to us as these kind of very warm and kind-hearted elders. Then as the story moved to the end, we were revealed their true personalities and they were both very dark, the two characters showed they are ruthless and will kill at any cost to win, Kyoraku even showed he will resort to childish tricks to just get one moment of advantage over his opponent in a fight. I think Ukitake will be the same, especially if he's made the Warden of Hell or whatever his new title was. I think this character will be truly evil, probably second to someone like Yamamoto. His weird illness was always something that was used as his biggest weakness, and I think that Kubo might make that illness to be maybe some sort of curse or something for an individual who is truly just so evil, maybe the illness over centuries made him into this kind older man (kind of how Yama was called weak for accepting the help from humans, where before he would just destroy everyone with his own bare hands and use his army of demon captains to help him).

I sort of envisioned the tags as something akin to capacitors... they are storing reiatsu in a "spirit field", that he can discharge. There are ways this aligns with the water ripples theme -- in particular, the ripples would be like waves at the native resonance of a circuit due to its capacitance and/or inductance. Given that we've seen Urahara cancel out attacks by adjusting his reiatsu output just right to cancel it out, it's not out of the question to also have the option to boost an attack through resonance. If we presume that his capacitors were in series when in his shikai, that would make the overall capacitance very small... then in bankai, perhaps the capacitors are in parallel, which would mean the overall capacitance is many times larger.
He can pump this circuit with a small amount of reiatsu pulsing at the resonant frequency and thereby increase the power output ad infinitum.
