Kansas City is the headquarters for AMC, they restored a Movie Palace in downtown Kansas City that is now an Alamo Drafthouse when they moved across the state line in Overland Park Kansas, they sold the one on the Missouri side that they had just renovated to Alamo. There are a hundred movie screens within 10 Mi of their headquarters! so we get a lot of foreign films and documentaries and smaller films as well as all of the Blockbusters that could never sell out. AMC bought out Cinetopia which added to that number, and the theaters are absolutely stunning. Every state-of-the-art thing is tested here first, some auditoriums have real art, bookcases, and fireplaces, loveseats and recliners, the projection has been top-notch for many years and they tested out their leather recliners here that are pretty much standard everywhere now I think. We also have screen X which projects on the sides of the auditorium as well, not the one picture wrapped around but additional footage that was filmed when the movie that was made and it is amazing, and of course when the theater that has fog snow scent and moving chairs if you're into that kind of thing. There's not a lot else to do in Kansas City, so it really is a big movie town and people don't realize it! We have one movie theater that has 30 screens on other one that has 24 the average is 15 to 20 and they all are on kind of a different theme, but the extravagance of these theaters cannot be overstated. And being an AMC A-list person, I can go to any of them in any format and it only cost me $20 a month for three times a week. I personally like Dolby but Prime is awesome and the 3D is great for the people that are into that, there are two different kinds of 3D projection. So you walk into one of these theaters there literally could be five different formats of the latest movie being shown, in everything from small intimate theaters of 30 people to huge auditoriums with 700 plus. We have several of the largest screens in the world in the Kansas City metro area, between AMC and B&B competing for bragging rights. I honestly think Kansas City has Hollywood beat when it comes to the movie theaters themselves. All the theaters have been Dine-in and boozin for quite some time. Some have a button you can push to call somebody to wait on you like on an airplane. Kevin has test marketed several of his movies here, a 24 screen Multiplex near the Kansas City Airport, and I was lucky enough to go to a preview screening of Zack and Miri! Fun fact, Marc : Eddie Van Halen did not get paid for his contribution to 'Beat it'. At his insistence. Well, technically, he was paid in beer. That's it. If he had taken a fraction of a percentage on the back end he would have made millions. Part of that reason was that he had an informal "no compete" deal with his bandmates. Just the same, they were less concerned about the no compete, and freaked out that he didn't take a cut.

I know Kevin asks out of the blue about box office numbers and puts Marc on the spot, but Marc should just answer honestly that he doesn't know. In this episode, he said "Hobbs & Shaw" was over $340 million domestic, over $600 million world-wide in week two. Going into the third weekend now, it's at $119MM domestic and $343MM total world-wide. There's no shame admitting you don't know something, that you'll have to look it up. Just making stuff up and declaring it like it's a fact just ends up making a person look foolish. Like a few months ago when he said "Shazam!" was nearing $1 billion. For the record, I didn't know these numbers. It took me 30 seconds to punch up Box Office Mojo to find out.
Bendis is from Cleveland. The Torso Murders, Kingsbury Run and Elliot Ness is a big part of my city’s 20th century history. He came to Cleveland to head the police and fire departments and did some ground breaking work modernizing the police force and improving traffic safety and took on the mob- Cleveland’s mob scene was not something to sneeze at. The torso murders happened in the shanty town of Kingsbury Run and were never solved.
My wife and I were first in line for this taping and got one of the two primo booth tables. The lady who asked the second question and his wife came and sat with us. Soon after the Wizard of fucking Menlo Park shows up and end caps is at 5. He seems pretty much like a normal but very passionate. Then came when he went up. Shit flipped real quick. Kevin and Mark handled him like champs, but from that point on the vibe of the room was different. I’d love you y’all with that guy more for sure. lol

Matt Wagner, man that is a Kevin Smith deep deep cut comic book reference. Good recommendations of Vertigo comics and the comicsology app ( DC universe can be good too ). Marc reads some strange stuff, man. Though 'From Hell' is prime Allan Moore.

He came to Cleveland to head the police and fire departments and did some ground breaking work modernizing the police force and improving traffic safety and took on the mob- Cleveland’s mob scene was not something to sneeze at. The torso murders happened in the shanty town of Kingsbury Run and were never solved.
The guy wit the afro is too much... You gotta relax, bro
The world needs more people like him.
@@jasonp4571 in what sense?
@@jasonp4571 Um, no it doesn't...
Annoying and a douche. They way he started with I dont give my name, I'm the wizard of whatever was stupid enough and he should have just sat down
My wife and I were first in line for this taping and got one of the two primo booth tables. I’d love you y’all with that guy more for sure. lol
Can’t lie, that’s how I ate cereal this very morning! Also, I’ve only seen Endgame once but Kev is giving me Endgame fatigue!
Vince Masuka got out of the forensics game and is into Howard the Duck now?
Only 15 words are attributed to Shakespeare. Neither crocodile or alligator are among them.
@@MadManVS I knew this was incorrect because Shakespeare, Franklin and Twain are always getting attributed to things they either never said or didn't come up with. Much of this misinformation is still widely believed on the internet. I did research this for a dissertation back in the 90s however.
That dude was on some stuff.
Eddie Van Halen did the "beat it" solo for free... Marc with the fake news
Steven T how about mistake not fake news dick
I came for their thoughts on Dolemite. I wasn't disappointed. Can't wait for Jay and silent Bob reboot movie. Woot
Those mics were higher than Kevin Smith
I love how they say Tarantino’s theater might have something to worry about with the new Alamo drafthouse in LA, Tarantino is ALWAYS at the Alamo drafthosue in Austin lol
The lady who likes celebrity autobiographies should read the Andre the Giant graphic novel. Beautiful work
i dug out the Eddie Murphy "Party all the time" 45 single about 2 weeks ago at my parents place...
Matt Wagner, man that is a Kevin Smith deep deep cut comic book reference. I liked 'Mage' and 'Grendel' ( from Comico at that time ), but Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters' came out around that time and I was back into DC. Good recommendations of Vertigo comics and the comicsology app ( DC universe can be good too ).
Marc reads some strange stuff, man. Though 'From Hell' is prime Allan Moore.
I went to the Alamo Drafthouse since I work around the corner. I really liked it and may cheat on occasion from my AMC A list. Plus love that they will kick out fools :) Because I have even been to the Arclight and had many issues there with people taking flash selfies, video during a movie lol
Hey Kevin, the only thing keeping me alive right now is the chance of meeting you at the Jay and silent Bob roadshow when you come to Pittsburgh. Well that and the star wars movie coming out in December.
Anthony Starr was in Banshee, a pretty cool show with kick ass action scenes (guess it wasn't that popular, since it's not the first time someone comments "where have I seen the actor that plays Homelander..?")
What if the deal with Netflix was a Brewster's Millions situation. 🤔😱💰🥳🤯
27:33 I paused the video and looked it up, it’s awesome.
I did the same thing. Actually gave me chills.
2:19 I believe that the saying "No plan survives contact with the enemy" paraphrases the great warrior-poet-philosopher Michael Gerard Tyson, who said, "Everybody has a plan until they get hit." 😂
Another great show with Kevin and Mark
Can anyone type out the episode for me? Im deaf after that intro
Anymore info about castle rock season 2 ?
One of the best books if you like celeb biographies/autobiography is Bruce Campbells "If Chins Could Kill, confessions of a B movie actor". Will not disappoint. Cheers
Wish Kevin or Marc had mentioned " Maus" to the lady looking for recommendations on books to read. Beautifully written graphic novel by Art Spiegelman.
Gorgeous and heartwrenching work! I was riveted when I read it :)
My wife and I were going to go see the show but we couldn't get tickets online and didn't want to drive 90 minutes to Anaheim to pay to get into the con and then not be able to get into the show. It would have been a 3 hour fucking hell round trip if we couldn't get in.
I am enjoying the hype build for all the hidden news!
GRATS ON THE HE-MAN IP KEVIN !!! OMG YES !! That was my favorite show and action figures growing up :D Can't wait for that AND Jay and Silent Bob Reboot !!! I remember watching Action Jackson too LUL Dolomite is looking great !
Kevin and Marc are right in the middle of an advert for a theatre, and then "The Wizzard" intervenes to tell everyone how great a rival is....that should have been the clue they needed to rid of him
We need a movie with Kevin Smith and Robert Downey Jr. cast as brothers, please, make it so. 😀
I swear to God when he lost weight I kept saying he could pass for being RDJs brother!
I'm surprised they didn't recommend the Dark Tower comics to the chick who was asking for comic recommendations.
She'd already read them, we had that discussion prior to.
If you check out youtube What the Hales, he got the real Dolomite storage at a auction check it out.
That last volume bump brought a bunch of distortion
high out of my mind by whatever amount of substances my friends got me onto, and now I'm sitting here all fucked up before my marriage, listening to the Kev Smith and my man brilliant Marc, is the best closer and/or beginning of my journey. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE
The Freaks come out at 1pm in Hollywood. Holy Cow man!
Kevin Smith and "Bumpy Knuckle's kid" need to do a podcast together of them smoking and talking..
why did you turn these up? now the mics are blowing out.
Listening to Kevin talk about watching Endgame 15 times. Dude did you notice the little gem shape appear on Wanda's forehead while she's fighting Thanos? I feel like I'm the only guy on EARTH who's noticed, No-one talks about it & it's driving me nuts! WandaVision tease? It's easier to see in the theater. It's like an indentation appears under the skin of her forehead. Same shape as Visions.
