FUCKIN HEY WHEN LIFE WAS GOOD HEY !...unfortunately I was born this year 1989 so I miss out on the 80's thrash metal death metal grove metal era and I was to little in the 90's to go to metal concerts unfortunately
@@jacklindsay9395 I was born the year after this video was made and I did pretty much this in the mid to late 2000's. There were less thrash and death bands in those days and the venues were usually not packed, but still ...
I'm in there somewhere, 17 years old! Took my 15 year old brother along, his first gig. "You will look after him won't you" said my concerned mum. Well, we both just went mental! The feeling at this gig was electric, it honestly felt like we were watching history being made and as it turns out I think we were. The intensity in this set was mind blowing. I'd seen a few bands by this time - Exodus, Testament, Acid Reign etc. but nothing had prepared me for this, this was something else entirely. Probably the best gig I ever saw in 30 years of gigging, it just changed everything. Judging by the comments below I was not alone in this experience either. What a band, caught at just the right time. Never knew this was filmed, immense thanks @supercharger666 for posting this, if you ask me - a rare snapshot of metal history in the making!
I was in Germany on this 89th tour because of Sodom. Sepultura was unknown and really just the band before .. How I like to remember a concert in which Sepultura surprised everyone and hit like a bomb .. this concert burned into my mind sepultura accompanies me through my life until this year 2019 inner self a century song
I was at this gig, best gig I have ever been at to this day. Did not even know they were a support act, I thought they were headlining and left afterward exhausted from stage diving. If I knew Sodom were on next I would of stayed. Sodom got pissed off and walked off stage after four songs so I heard later. It was not Sepultura's fault just that they were a revolution in music at the time. Beneath the Remains won all the metal awards that year in the metal music press and Glam metal was finally put to rest and the metal press finally featured thrash instead. Even Kerrrrap took notice outside of Metallica. Great days. What a time to live and I am grateful to have been there. The late 80s' were a great time for the more extreme end of Metal.
Was there 2, fuckin amazing gig, and if you still call yourself flea after all these yrs, thats pretty cool, we few use to meet up for gigs all over london, never really new each other but same faces at every gig, happy times
hahahha, I can attest to this dude being legit . " Kerrrrrap " is a tell tale sign of having lived the underground during those days . I remember having read that in an interview with Vikernes for some Zine or Metal forces circa the early 90s . Great times \m/
I knew, my mate knew but compared to Sepultura Sodom sucked, we got an earlier train back to Norwich! It really was one of the best gigs I have seen in my 51 years. 🤘🤘
Flea Caesar - Sodom definitely played a full set of 10 songs and 3 encores. Whoever told you they only played 4 songs was bullshitting. A lot of the crowd had left after Sepultura though.
One of my favourite gigs of all time. The vibe was amazing, the pit went mental, can see me and my pals down the front and stage diving - quite a bizarre feeling two decades plus on, good times, brilliant band!
I too was at this gig- 17 years old haha it was chaos! I did feel sorry for Sodom afterwards- the marquee emptied throughout their set. I’m sure we all got sepulturas autographs in the foyer afterwards
Eles eram foda demais! A sinergia do Sepultura era inigualável.
Epic gig blew Sodom off stage. Met Max and Igor out front after gig. Also met my now BF they signed his leather. (Aged 17 at the front and I'm a girl!)
I read in Max's biography "My Bloody Roots" that the tour manager for Sodom didn't like Sepultura, because they blew Sodom away every night, so he treated them like shit. So as revenge, Max didn't shower the whole tour! Thats fucking thrash!
Honestly never even really found sodom to be in the same league as other thrash bands from the time even though theyre now viewed as classic too. I think theyre slightly overrated but their earlier more black metal sounding stuff is cool
Only nowadays I can appreciate what kind of metal music we had in the 80's..the bands looked so damn hot back then..21st century can't possibly hold a candle to the good old days...
indeed , for a good 3 - 4 years they were untouchable in the thrash/death and what they started doing with Chaos A. D. which was pretty innovative at the time
@@saraivatoledo1842 Impressive how they went to death, thrash, chaos ad and roots. Despite Max's screaming too much at Roots you can't deny his genious talent. Hope they comeback with Old Formation.
I did not expect to find this gig on here ! I was there at 18 years old, mental gig and got to have a quick chat with Billy Milano on the way out. Happy days !

I saw a second ago a recording of Testament live from 2013, the crowd basically looks like they were standing on a jetty watching ducks swim by. I was a teenager and going to first gigs at the beginning of the 2000s, and handbanging and moshing was like a point of honour or something, and to be first and engage others to join in the fun, still do it today!

Outstanding. Though I was juuust coming away from metal at this point this is how gigs were. Pure enjoyment. And back then the mosh, believe it or not, was a safe place. If you went down there was always, ALWAYS, a load of hands that came down and pulled you up. It was like loving violence 😂 not like now where the jocks just don't get it and think it's just violence. This was my generation. We moshed, we headbanged, we made a noise. We didn't stand around with cellphones filming stuff for social media.
Standbackforscience indeed sir.
That's kinda sad

When Sepultura was Sepultura
I was at this show. Awesome gig. The place cleared after Sepultura played and only a handful of us remained to watch Sodom
Poor Sodom
Cool!!
same happened in Rotterdam, me and my friends thought Sodom played first and we missed them.
it was the same everywhere. SODOM were so terrible.
Simon morris - did you live in Hayes at the time? If you did I think we went with you!

I feel bad for Sodom as they are an amazing thrash metal band and they released Agent Orange in 1989 which is one of my favorite thrash metal album.

In those days there are no assholes with smarthphones. Respect to insane crowd \,,/

It's true, brother.
Because in those days there were no smartphones

What a find! I was there, amazing gig and met the band outside, great fellas!
For those who have been playing in their rooms, shooting videos and thinking that's the way music is made.
Amazing show! Sepultura was so powerful back then!
Pure brutality and energy, gotta love it!
