I wonder if this was recommended to people who have recently listened to in the air and the donkey Kong soundtrack. I have done this recently wondering if all of you have done the same ?? Funny how the algorithm works
i remember first hearing in the air tonight when i was like 5 and being disappointed it wasn't the swamp song from donkey kong. that sentiment has stayed with me whole life, i vocalize it almost every time i hear the song. i feel so supremely understood now. thank you. this is a video i would have made had you not.
Almost 12 years later and people are still finding this. What a classic mashup, deserves more views after all this time. Let's hope the algorithm gives it a sudden burst of attention
No he didn't. This is a common misconception. You can look at interviews with the guy, and they always bring this up and he's like "I get why people would think so, but it never crossed my mind when I was making these"
So Phil Collins inspired David Wise when making the donkey kong country soundtracks (according to Wise himself), and then later went on to do the soundtrack for Tarzan. Coincidence?
UA-cam for the last 11 years: he isn’t ready! This is too good and it will melt his mind UA-cam today: okay, he is ready now. He has seen enough to appreciate this.
It's all about the building anticipation towards The Moment, and when The Moment hits, it hits harder than getting punched in the face by Donkey Kong. Just perfection
@Соɾу ℛ. "In the Air Tonight" by Phill Collins Released: 1980 Donkey Kong Country 2 Initial release date: November 20, 1995 I think you should stop smoking so much

I know everyone's already complimented you on the god-tier mashup of the 2 songs but I wanted to compliment you on color-inverting the photo to recreate the same look of the In The Air Tonight music video. Fantastic all around.
I remember hearing this song in the car for the first time a few years ago, and saying it sounded just like the swamp level music from DKC2. My siblings all looked at me like I had 3 heads at the time, and but looks like I'm not the only one to notice.
This has got to be one of the most unique things I've listened to in a long time...I thought sampling all the DKC2 stuff around Phil Collins was going to be a trainwreck. I'm beyond pleased I was wrong!
Thank goodness I found this in my recommended feed nearly 12 years later, I always thought of this combination when I played DKC2 lolol. All of the little details are perfect.
The first time I ever heard In the Air Tonight I’ve said it reminds me of a DKC2 song. Beyond thrilled to have this finally recommended to me after so many years!
For some reason, I didn't connect the title of the video with this song. But as I listened, I started thinking that the sound reminds me of "that song Phil Collins sang". Then I was proven right and I laughed as it all fell into place in my mind. And it is a sweet mix.
Oh honey, we need to edumacate you about Philly boy. Did I ever tell you about that one song about a man living in an apartment being disturbed by the neighbors on the other side of the wall fucking?
Finally found something as amazing as that mix of Sonic 3's ending with Stranger in Moscow. And apparently this guy Vinny knew about both of them and put a bunch of people on this greatness.
I played this for my brother and his partner. My brother didn't realize that the animal noises were *not* hallucinatory, and thought this was the normal version of Phil Collin's "In the Air Tonight."
I seriously will fucking stand by this being the best way to listen to Coming in the Air Tonight. The ambience is a small touch but it adds a lot and when the SFX become more melodic after the iconic drum beat it becomes absolutely amazing and more impactful. I know this game was technically on the SNES but I never knew it would work so well with a member of Genesis lmao.
oh man, it's been a while since i've heard this mix... i wonder why it's showing up in people's recommended now? either way, i'm glad it's still here and i'm always happy to hear it again :)
