Hi Patience. The black paint is just bitumen. You need a structural engineer to come and give you a drainage solution. The artisans and masons need professional guidance. Until you have drainage the penetrating ground water will find a route into your house. This damage from water ingress will continue to happen. And i mentioned drainage and filtration for your pool weeks ago, now you have rainwater pooling in the bottom. Sometimes you need to trust the skillsets of professionals to avoid the obvious money traps.
26:07 its amazing how visible the wetness of the foundation is so visible. I hope the added the damp proof additives to the mortar mix they will use to plaster the wall after to make it more rigid.
Hi Patience in a previous video i posted a link of a UK site that has a simple product to prevent damp if damp proofing isn't working it would have been less invasive and less expensive judging by the work being done here. It involves drilling small holes in the building inserting rods that soak up moisture at regular intervals then sealing the holes and re-plaster so that they remain in place .. seems to be very reliable and cost effective but anyway hope what you're doing finally solves the damp issue
There is also another process in Ghana where they drill small holes at the base of the building at regular intervals and fill the holes with a damp proof chemical, which forms a barrier/ seal in each block when it solidifies. Both these methods are more effective than adding damp proof cement or chemical to the outside of the blocks because dampness rises from underneath the blocks. I hope this works for Patience because it is expensive and it's a headache.
The floor level of the house appears to be even with the ground level. In the U.S. the house floor level is elevated 18 to 24 inches above ground level. The land is sloped away from the house to allow water to flow away from the house. I hope the exterior water sealing will fix your problem.
Looking at the block qualify they used for the foundation it was very bad quality, the mix ratio has too much sand also. If they had used good quality blocks like query dust blocks this could have minimised this issue.
My building journey did not start off correctly. This is why I am experiencing this issue now. Be sure to get experts involved from the beginning to avoid this... wishing you all the best 🙏🏽
6:00 talking about your pool this is why they should have made drains on the bottom that could be used to drain out any water or even siphon the water out for now that there isn't any drain pump installed. I don't know if they are real pool builders because a pool needs a drain on the bottom to drain the water out or to circulate or backwash the pump and filtration system. There isn't any drain installed on the lowest or deepest point so how do they expect you to automatically drain your pool?
Hi Patience , sorry to see you going through this. Please I once saw a youtube video of a guy who cuts the wall horizontally and insert a damp proof membrane to solve rising damp problems. He said that's a permanent solution but his words. Sorry, I can't locate his page. Wishing you the best.
Unfortunately there is no permanent solution. Treatment can be done but it will reappear. I had the same issue with a property I purchased in Ghana. The best way is actually prevention.
The pool engine room should have been kept above the ground level because that depth they created is a flood waiting to happen. The water pump can drain the pool even above ground level and also fill the pool the. same time as well as cycling the water. It comes with a switch gear lever that you use to select the mode of operations you need the pump to be on.
Hello Patience, to solve the dump issues you need use natural stones to fix the outside permanently otherwise the dump will come back no matter how do it. There is a way to solve the inside too permanently and not the way you did previously.
Instead of chipping away the plaster, you could just lay the stone cladding on top of it. Oh I forgot this is damp-proofing but wouldn't it be just as effective being applied on top of the plaster?
It's a waste of time and time is money. Should dig around the house and put concrete. Im doing something like that right now. And it works. Dig like a walk way 3 foot will solve your problem for sure
They are costing you more money as there is no need to chisel the building. Rather they've to dig around the building to the footing level. Apply liquid rubber from the footing level up. It is essential to seal the cold joint, ie where the first foundation blocks meet the footing concrete. Once this is done, you have to install a foundation drain. The holes on the pipe must point down so that any water can be transported to your main gutter or storm drainage. It is not a rocket science, but clueless artisans will cost you money. Every building MUST have a foundation drain? Do you have one?
@AkosuaAtta I'm sorry, but afraid I can't recommend artisans for you. It is not my job. Please go back to the architect and structural engineer who designed your building to help you. That's if you truly used such experts. I guess you didn't do soil test before breaking your ground?
@AkosuaAtta I can give you a number if you like? My plumber installed a French drain in my place. You have to dig down to foundation level, apply a tar like paint to the foundation wall, then install a French drain. The drain direct water away from the footing.
@kehindeemiabata4032 Akosua needs to ensure that the plumber must pour 20mm or 3/8 quarry chippings into the trenches before the installation of the perforated pipes. The holes must point down. I can't recommend artisans. There could be more to the foundation. A structural engineer is recommended. But in Ghana, she must pay a bit of money. It is not expensive.
They need to cut about 4 inches of the blooks to inset the felt into it to stop the water coming back again if you want i can recommed someone to help sort this damp problem out.
This is not going to help. You are just papering over the cracks. The problemnis from foundation. You need french drains installed and butemin applied to the footing.
You have the money. Why didn't you take your time to build with superior fired or burnt bricks. Ghana has been blessed with several deposits of clay. Clay bricks abundant in the country. You should've been saving yourself loads of money if you had built a solid double brick house. Ghana is a highly hot country and it will never get cold. The ancient ancestors never used concrete. I see several aircons on your building. You are punishing yourself. Look at the type of windows you have. I'm sorry but afraid that the ancestors used louvres because they are smart. You've to sort out your own mess. What are you doing? Do you have permission for the swimming pool? Or you just built it without permit? By law you've to take take permit for any modification on your building. Have you done that? Have you presented your modification drawings to the assembly? What are you doing Patience? You need experts to guide you. Just shody work. Oh man. I'm so disappointed.
What is wrong with you? 😂😂😂Why are you speaking to her like that? you are chastising her like she is a small child, clearly this is a highly intelligent woman who is embarking on a new journey, and is also learning through the process. She is sharing her journey with us so that she shows the real reality the ups and downs of construction. Eventually all will be fine.
@Naledi_22 Why shouldn't I criticise her? Before you defend her please ask her to produce the result of a soil test prior to breaking the ground. There are four elements: air, water, fire, and earth. They are the ancient ones - and they are still with us to date. She has breached them, so the building will never stand the test of TIME when these forces are acting. If you're building in Ghana, you must follow the building codes there. Where is her soil test result?
@Naledi_22 there's nothing wrong with agreesion as long as it is controlled. It's called controlled agreesion. Ghana has a Building code. It must be observed. Before you come again, please ask her to show her Certificate of Habitation. Do you know what that document is in the Ghana Building Code? People come to Ghana and cut their own details. Meanwhile, in the western world, they uphold the laws. Can she build anyhow in the UK?
@@Fired_ClayMassa..you are just speaking grammar..how many buildings/houses in Ghana including your own family house that has a building code.? How does that solve the problem at hand right now.? If you can't offer solutions then it is better to shut the F up with all those building terminologies crap.

The pool engine room could have been built to the height of the fence wall or slightly above it to make it comfortable to access the room.
17:41 this same black damp proofing substance should have been used on the outside wall of your pool also before they filled it up with the sand.
Looking at the block qualify they used for the foundation it was very bad quality, the mix ratio has too much sand also. If they had used good quality blocks like query dust blocks this could have minimised this issue.

please any update on your previous interior dampness fix? did it work or not? thx
Pls what chemicals are you using for the treatment
They should have dug into the foundation to apply from there
How much is this poly tank guys? Need one
It will depend on the size you buy
Where is this?

Hmmm, this is a big issue when it comes to damps. I don't know how we can solve this.
Maybe it’s a water logged area

That water in the pool will soom be breeding mosquitoes and frogs if not drained out.

Please you need this to help treat the Dampness

Damp liquid Seal
Base seal powder
Damproofing powder
River Sand

maam sorry but you are just wasting your money thats not how to deal with the issue you are facing well .good luck
Waste of money kwa. U didnt do a dpm and dpc at the initials.
Even the liquid your using to paint is no good, its to liquidy and watery.
