the good thing is it will be a very green spring and lower chances of extreme wild fires because the plants won't be so dried out.
I like the optimism but unfortunately it's the opposite, this summer is going to be an insane wildfire season. All of the green looks real nice, but its going to die in the summer and turn into tall weeds and become a major fire hazard.
i hope that this was the last of the craziness happening in Cali this winter.
Less threat spring fires w more green. But eventually summer will come w HEAT... and then autumn with lots n lots of extra brush to dry out and feed fire threat.... ;(

I was born and raised in California, and it hasn’t snowed here in the Bay Area since I was three! This weather is truly something else!
I remember the blizzard of 69 dropped 15 feet of snow in 2 days oh boy that was in Tahoe and when I move to l.a. when I was stationed there there was one year that it snowed the only one on the road with me just didn't really stay safe

@@ARenae1 and I’m super sorry with how hostile that came off, I definitely could have written that better. But what I’m trying to say is for the case of this video saying that the rest of the world has the same issue is irrelevant, this is only about the west coast of the US and I was trying to say why the rain wasn’t completely a good thing. Obviously much of the world is facing droughts and other major ecological disaster and we definitely should look at tackling those issues, it’s just not relevant with what I was saying. Also just because many other countries (definitely not the rest of the world) have this issue, doesn’t mitigate the issue that the US is going through rn.
Their policy is to dump it all into the oceans. So while yes, they needed it, the state does an awful job keeping it.

Farmers want to pump the water form the rivers instead of allowing it all to drain through the Delta to the Pacific but the misguided and misinformed activists fight them and convince the state government to limit the pumping and saving of that water (which can go into replenishing groundwater), all in order to “save” the life of a species of fish (smelt) that are barely alive and are NOT even a native species, they were brought here from elsewhere and are invasive!!! Horribly incompetent rule in a single party state. And I live here.

Agreed, they need to rebuild the five dams they are removing in Northern California, not remove them completely since the ecosystem in that area has already adapted to the change. That way the state will have water over the summer, and power for the electrical grid.
The lakes are so low Cali has plenty of water storage to fill up with rainwater!

SoCal here: “ Oh thank God. We desperately need this rain and snow. Too bad that we can’t save most of it and it will flow out to the ocean because it will help with the drought and all it’s restrictions. Yes that's definitely how a nor'easter works however nor'easters aren't exactly, that's why they're generally considered bad storms when they have them I know that if they happen here in Ohio will get very bad conditions technically that's the way it would work anywhere they happen.

I remember living in Lake Tahoe 1969 we had a huge dump of snow we ended up with 15 feet after all is said and done no power not a thing however my mom was so ingenious we all slept in the same room by the wood stove my dad moved the washer and dryer outside that was a refrigerator we handed tunnel into the house still installation of snow kept our house warmer than would have been then when school opened we had list to then bus stop buy snow plows. I will never forget walking to school and the snow is like 7 ft bulkhead new trying to walk in the tracks take the good with the bad Mother Nature can be very fickle
Yeah its raining hard but they make such a fuzz about it, a quake does worse damage. I'm from L.A. and from someone that used to live in the east coast its no big deal people are just not used to so much water here. If we would get one of those snow storms like in NY than I would be worry.

I used to live in Novi Michigan. Ice storms quite common every winter I lived there. I would watch from my balcony as every car that drove past my condo ended up smashing into a tree or running off the road. I lived at the end of the drive that curved to the right. Nowhere else they could go.

Makes me grateful that I only have to worry about -50° temps and 3ft of snow from one storm. I've come home to 4 inches of water/ice upstairs and down from burst pipes, but it could have been worse.

Woke up to an extremely bright room, didn't know why, opened the curtains and WOW!! SNOW EVERYWHERE!! I couldn't believe my eyes!! So beautiful. Live off grid in a canyon, and usually just the mountain peaks will get snow. It melted by night fall but wow it was heavenly. So yes I wish the snow remained a few days more in my ranch.

Hay, I was 13 blizzards of 78.. I still remember all those people stuck on 128. We dragged pizzas with a snowmobile and trailer with the wheels taken off from the local pizza shops to pass out pizza slices.
Main street had 4 feet of snow. The piles after lasted till mid summer.

I was born n raised in Cali. Been in Chicago for 19 years now. Cali just isn’t equipped for that type of weather and people do not know how to drive in it there. We don’t usually get it this bad, but we usually get pretty gnarly snow every year. It’s only weird weather due to the parts of CA it’s hitting, most of the parts they’re talking about rarely get snow, and rarely get that much snow. But yeah we get really bad snow most years so I doubt it’s all that different from Illinois

It was in the news and saw it that Burbank , California had snow like in the hills of Vacaville covered with thick snow like you are in Lake Tahoe it’s not even in the news …
I’m an Inland Empire native and I must say you have to have never left your house in the past week. We’ve been getting snow in Redlands and San Bernardino, the city not the mountains!! In Riverside it’s got down into the low 30s at night! Just because it hasn’t been coming down for you doesn’t mean the problem is nonexistent?

The Fires Are Primarily Caused By Lava Tubes Underground That Go All The Way To Yellowstone. This Causes Earth & Flora To Become Dry. No Rain (Drought) Will Only Cause This To Be Amplified.
Dry Soil Can Not Retain Moisture & Will Be Just Covered In Water Until The Water Flows Away Or Is Evaporated.
Simply When The People Don't Care For The Planet, The Planet Doesn't Care For People.

It's been so crazy in California! We are getting cold and wet weather when we should be getting hotter and drier weather. It's so strange. We even got snow here where it never snows. Very bizarre stuff.

Was without power for 3 days in Michigan. Freezing cold in the house. Was finally able to get a propane tank to heat the house.
As someone from Illinois this is hard to take serious but I get it when they don’t ever get snow a little bit freaks people out and ima assuming they don’t have a lot of driving experience in it
I agree. I’m from Michigan and I understand the brutality winter can bring but I also place a lot of blame on the cities that don’t plow the roads in a timely manner and don’t put down any salt. Along with wreck less drivers.

Parts of California get more snow than anywhere in the nation. The sierras get more snow than anywhere in the continental 48. But yeah, not in the Bay Area.
@@easysteezy58right I live in lake arrowhead and we average 40” of snow year. This last storm brought 52” of snow in three days. Caltrans messed up by sending our equipment to remove snow to the cajon pass now our mountain roads have 4 plus feet of snow on them.
Stores and shops are closed and pretty no one can drive up here right now.
