    Hi Micheal , Well we are officially Floridians , we got to tell the state we left to stop taking out taxes, that was a win ! The dmv was a breeze and the staff welcoming! We sold our house at the height of the mkt. but now we’re just chilling and not going to buy at the peak , hopefully we can buy next year at a reasonable price, we experienced the Red Tide for the first time , it’s reminiscent of CN gas and caused us some irritation n coughing, no bueno ! Yes, you’re absolutely right about the pay cut as someone who stays in the Midwest St. Louis to be exact. I feel like they paid pretty decent for medical workers or even in that field. I’ve noticed it slightly lower in Florida which kind of makes me think a little bit harder about the move

  • @Mr_CigarJaxGuy
    @Mr_CigarJaxGuy 3 роки тому +7

    Great video Mr. Michael like always. As a Jacksonville guy, I'd absolutely say that things are getting more expensive and Florida isn't what it used to be. Too many folks move and expect it to be like their home state and it can be quite bizarre meeting folks who don't make an effort to get to know the area. More trash is appearing on the sides of country roads, and the woods also. A lot of us Floridians are eventually going to leave the state and never look back. Florida isn't what it used to be but it happens everywhere not just Florida. My advice to new folks to Florida, don't try to make us like your home state because it's a bit rude and get to know the area. Anytime I meet someone "new" it's hard to connect because a lot of folks don't get to know the area. This happens everywhere so it's not just florida folks!

    • @MichaelBordenaro
      @MichaelBordenaro  3 роки тому +2

      Thank you! Yes it is getting crowded pretty quick. I agree with you, people should do their best to adapt to their new hometown rather than try to make it something that its not. That was a tough adjustment for me as well, but now I just accept Miami for what it is👍

    I was interested in moving to the gulf coast in early 22 but it looks like I’ll be waiting, just to overvalued. I flip in Pittsburgh and personally think the market has already begun to slow. Given the recent Redfin projections I think we’ll see more slowing of the market in 22. Add in Florida is a transitory state normally so I think the heat, humidity, distant family and now big crowds is gonna send people out of Florida. If the Covid insanity starts to die down in other states that will definitely contribute to people moving as well. It’s gonna be an interesting year! Thanks for your videos and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

      Yes, tell her that in Florida you both will be in poverty. You will suffer financially, mentally and emotionally. It’s the truth, I was born & raised in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Florida may be cute to visit not to live there thinking you about to get this lavish life for cheap & live affordable. Don’t let clueless & lost northerners & mid-westerners who wanna escape “snow” play with your minds.
      Be ready to have 2-4 jobs to supplement income. Florida is a playground for the wealthy to live and retired old folks. Wages are low as hell. The politics are also horrible as well, there’s lack of resources for everything then remember the June - November the hurricane storm season meaning you have to keep a eye on the news to make sure none head to Florida. Florida has the most hurricanes even when they don’t come yearly but since the climate change & heatwave around the ocean there will be bigger worst storms that will hit all sides of Florida.
      No one is preparing down there to leave or find another state to provide a better living for themselves. The education system is poor as well. The public transportation is horrible & unreliable & riddled with junkies/weirdos at times.
      Some Florida cities don’t have transportation. North Florida, South Florida, West Florida, and Central Florida. You will NOT thrive there at all. The rat race in Florida is a different kind and you’re not working to truly accomplish nothing: you’re going to be stagnant and not have a peace of mind.
      You will not live near the beach or downtown unless you’re going to pay $1900-3000 a month in rent. The small cities are boring to and not much to do there at all.

    Hi Michael. I am still planning to move to Florida in around a year and a half. I have to get away from Virginia. Virginia used to be a great state be it has been taken over by more and more taxes and regulations. Thankfully we just had an election and hopefully the new administration can slow it down long enough for me to escape 😆. Anyway thanks for all your videos it helped me so much when I went to Florida this past summer. I went all the way down to West Palm Beach exploring and I stayed in Daytona Beach and Juno Beach. Living 20 minutes from NYC, we have insane over-population. The most dense area in the country. I did notice south east FL is starting to move in that direction. Which is good and bad. The mindset and political climate is the polar opposite though. People are actually fleeing here and other states just to be under Gov DeSantis. In fact, my best friend just put his house up for sale. This is a real reality of what's happening right now.
    Wages are a little lower down in the FL. With the cheaper cost of living and lack of state tax, it's all relevant like you said! Plus you have to factor in living in a tropical paradise and a potential better quality of life 👍I've been working remote since 2019. In a hypothetical situation, I'd try to leverage the flexibility in my field. Whether it's a current or new position. Personally I'm a little biased towards the south east coast. It's close to the Keys, the beaches are amazing and there's lots to do for a single dude. I'd have to go home at night to a quiet area though. I'm not sure that exists anymore in that part of FL. At least for the average and middle class.

      @MichaelBordenaro  3 роки тому +2

      You bet Mark! I always advise the same for people to rent before buying if they move down here. But you'd be amazed how many just come and buy right away. Things are getting more dense in my neck of the woods for sure! Its noticeable. I don't blame people for wanting to be here though, the weather, the scenery, the freedom, it all adds up. To be somewhere quiet at night down here, you'd probably want your own house, most houses down here now start around 500k

    • @markm391
      @markm391 3 роки тому +2

      @@MichaelBordenaro 500k sounds reasonable in a decent community in today's market. Right now freedom is a big commodity and driving the market down there. Plus it's a very desirable place to live. Up here realestate is insane due to the proximity to NYC. We also have the highest property taxes in the nation. Shopping is more costly as well. You'd really have to dig into the numbers to get a clear picture between the two 👍🏻 Personally I think it almost evens out or may slightly favor FL. Btw this is all hypothetical. At this time I'm enjoying my visits down there and still figuring things out 👍🏻

    I suspect this winter season will be especially bad with all the new arrivals and the Canadians who couldn't come last year. On top of that is the advantage of having a governor who's done with jumping through every hoop the federal government puts in front of us. In Florida you're free to weigh the risks for yourself, so I imagine we'll see a lot of extra visitors who need a break from the masks and mandated jabs up north.

    Here in 2023 I'm seeing alot more folks from Florida here in Missouri then I see Missouri folks... almost everyday I see someone from Florida on the road so I think people from Florida are migrating to Missouri 🤷🤷

    • @Fourwindsofsuccess
      @Fourwindsofsuccess Рік тому +1

      There is a small migration going on with all groups of people leaving Florida but in small rates. We are heading to the DMV, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, New York, Illinois, and New Jersey. It’s going to be a infamous migration but the natives who were born & raised are fleeing. Notherners are blinded by the “sun & beaches & theme parks” but don’t realize you will have to work 2-3 jobs with an extra side hustle to live there. There’s a lot of people who couldn’t make it in their state run to Florida thinking it’s going to be this safe, affordable, and happy life there on beaches & having fun. People don’t want to remove the lens that Florida is the hardest state to thrive & have mobility. It’s rough when you don’t come from riches or something.
      Second, there’s some running to Arizona, Southern California, Georgia, The Carolinas, and Texas. Florida is just not live-able for us, truth he told it never was. Low paying jobs, hurricanes, tropical storms/thunderstorms, higher crime (most saying other states don’t have crime), limited resources for assistance, horrible healthcare, poor education for children, it’s a transient state, and severe heat waves.
      Florida only care about tourism, clubbing, being a playground for the wealthy, people who have top six figures work from home jobs that come out of state, and being a home for retired people with a decent income to come.
      We want homes, a decent life, and good jobs not to be suffering on a legal “island” which is what Florida is. There’s no taxes but there’s high insurances, high rent costs, high mortgages, and other stuff where those missing taxes add on to. I was born & raised in Florida, it’s not the place to become successful or acquire wealth, you need to come there with wealth or big money.

    Florida housing is now MORE expensive than the state of New York. For the first time in history, the median home value in Florida has surpassed the median home value in New York state. Florida is now the 18th most expensive state with a median home value of $345K. New York is $341K. There's no state income tax but wages are much lower in Florida than most states. However, I'm glad the $15 minimum wage passed in Florida. I'm disgusted with the anti mask, anti vax attitudes. These attitudes were extremely selfish and resulted in 61,000 COVID deaths in Florida alone. That's 30x more than Australia. Embarrassing. With 75,000 new cases a day nationally and winter upon us, this pandemic is far from over.

    • @MichaelBordenaro
      @MichaelBordenaro  3 роки тому +4

      I believe it, with how crazy the market it is here, its getting very expensive, I've covered that several times in past videos. The thing is many other states have had many deaths and cases as well, even with all their laws surrounding it. I personally agree with the right to choose how you want to live here. Anyone who goes out and flies on a plane or goes to a crowded club/bar/restuarant is responsible for themselves and you accept the risk your taking when doing that. It should not be up to people to protect everyone else. If you want to be protected, then you should not go out and just stay home. Even people come here and visit still from all over the world and all over the country, and then say look at how many cases FL has, yeah no kidding, look how many visitors we get too!

    Pros: Weather is nice - no snow or extreme cold. No state income tax.
    Cons: Make sure you keep your friends from whatever other state you came from, as people down here keep to themselves mostly, have no work ethic, and aren't very bright (hence the name "flori-duh"). The drivers here are also the worst on the planet, and even the road rage has increased tremendously in the last year or so as more people move down here from the northeast.
