    I met a elderly Narragansett lady here in long island back in 93 and she told me stories of her people and their contact's with the Norse..this lady could have easily been an educator for a college on north Eastern woodland

      I also am a descendant of a chief of the Narraganset. I only recently found out who, but had been told as a child only that I had native heritage. I am happy to know more specifics, but want to learn more about my ancestors as well. It is truly sad what colonialism has done to the history of people of the world, and is currently going on in some places.

    I so respect the North Eastern Tribes, unlike many other Native American tribes they dont shun those who are darker, or those who were escaped Africans, great message.

    • @MercyAlwyz23
      @MercyAlwyz23 4 роки тому +7

      It seems to me that many Natives were really dark before mixing with Europeans! I’ve seen pictures of older Natives and all are really dark skinned! I’m not saying they are Africans either! What I’m saying is it’s very interesting to me that all across the earth indigenous people started out very dark skinned! That’s the Aboriginals in Australia, the Indians in India (all Asian countries really), the Africans, and they even say the European that mixed with the Neanderthal was dark skinned! This all leads me to believe that the Most High created all HIS humans with a lot of melanin in the skin and that pink/white skin is something very foreign! 🤔

    • @sachemofboston3649
      @sachemofboston3649 3 роки тому +2

      @@MercyAlwyz23 Pale skin is an adaptation to low UV rays, and is a result of human migration further from the equator. You'll find the tribes in the more northern section of North America were fairer, while the ones closer to the equator were much darker. Europeans at one point had darker features but became paler as an adaptation to low UV rays out of necessity for vitamin D. Blue eyes and blonde hair originated in homo-sapiens 6,000-10,000 years ago around the Caucuses/Black Sea region.

    I am not officially a part of the tribe yet but it runs in my blood. My aunt and grandma are I believe currently elders of the tribe. I found this video because I was trying to learn more about the tribe. Since I was very young I’ve always felt more connected with my Narragansett Indian blood. It’s hard to explain but I’ve used to say it’s probably that I feel more connected spiritually withy ancestors. As I was watching the video ms. Dove mentioned the massacre that happened long ago and I don’t know how to explain. The feelings that came over me. But it was like a huge wave of pain that filled my heart and I started crying and couldn’t stop crying. When I’ve looked up research before on the I remember reading about the massacre. There isn’t much written down on google research about the tribe but I want to learn as much as I can. I don’t know where to start really besides asking my grandma and aunt questions which I will once again be doing. When I typed this out I was thinking of seeing if this could be a start and find more tribe members to help teach me out history. I don’t know if that will happen but I will not stop trying. I’m sorry if this comment was all over the place.

    As I understand it, Indians have been in North America for ten thousand years, Europeans for 1,000 years. During that 1,000 years humans have advanced technology, art, literature, transportation, mathematics, manufacture, music, politics, weapons, materials, space exploration, and communications.
    In 10,000 years Indians apparently chanted, danced and lived the same as animals.

      I haven't found any Africans in my tree either. I'm not yet as far back as you are but I am back way farther than the United States.
      About your ancestors who traced back to tribes were any ever enslaved and if they were how did you find their tribes despite slavery, name changes, status changes, etc.

    • @hunibuni
      @hunibuni 3 роки тому

      @Jessica Mcdaniels Sooo interesting, wow all of that is so amazing I am awestruck, and very happy for you that you didn't have to pull too many teeth to get your people's records and also how amazing those records are. I know those serious US STATE archives have all the goods, certain religious STATES too, it's in their culture to document everything, our people believed a purposefully planted myth that there was no way to trace, but it's all false, they wanted us to think that because what we'd find is an utter crime scene of a totally different nature than the narrative they spun to us. You just have to want to know bad enough, and also have that connection with the ancestors, I believe they help lead us back to them if we whole heartedly ask. Thank you for the recommendation, I am going there now. I really appreciate connecting with you. 💛
