That Matadoro ridge looks like it hasn't changed much in 25 years except for the giant wild bull we met on the way down! Very few of your viewers realise how tough that climb up to Wineglass would have been - well done.
Gosh a wild bull would be terrifying. I thought the goats were bad. Yes this hike did have me worried we had bit of a little much. My poor friends get dragged around some crazy places. I’ve been keen to try and access wineglass from the west. But now the fire regrown is too thick. Thanks for watching
Nice one Kate - this has actually been on my list for years and so good to see the fires didn't get to this bit of the river! Great adventure and video 👌
Thanks heaps mate. Yes so nice to see the green patches. So great to watch your vid last night. I’m keen to get out that way soon. Can’t wait till all of Morton is open.
I love the video summary and also the soundtrack! Josh's music is so perfect for it as it really captures the emotions felt - excited, optimistic, challenging yet rewarding. Love your work Kate!
Great video Kate, really enjoyed watching. It's my first time here on your channel, gave video a 👍 and subscribed. Look forward to seeing future videos. Stay safe ATB Dave 👍
Wow, great views from the top of the climb. That was certainly a decent walk/climb/scramble. Well done! "We've lost one of our team members, so things are going perfect" LOL
Hey Kate, this was awesome! So good to see your smiley face and excitement at getting out there. Miss that country (but not the giant hills or getting to campsites in the dark and cold 😝)
Thanks mate. Yeah the nav was a bit hectic on this one. It could be a different landscape in there now with rewowth. We did this at the end of Covid lockdown which made it extra special
the Wineglass Tor; is a lot easier accessible from Ettrema Gravel road (park before the metal gate, otherwise you are getting locked in ...), from Nerriga; we did it this weekend; walking over the top ridges; not much climbing required, 23km ..... the Re-grow is already very high; not much time left for easy walking .....
So cool yes I'd love to do it from that side. So good to hear it was achievable. The vegetation is a bit epic hey. Did you get over to specimen hill? My mate left her phone up there :)

That was just great in every way Kate. Thank you hugely for the movie. But I have some serious questions. Obviously you are on contract with the Dept of Corrective Services but it was not revealed in the credits! What level of insurance do you carry? If I was ever sentenced to go bushwalking with you (fortunately I have never committed a crime that bad) like those 'mates' you punished like they were your victims on an old school Outward Bound trial, I would try to blot out some of my pain by concentrating totally on the remembered sight and smell and sound of steak being cooked on a stone. I loved it how, just like Outward Bound, you contrived it so they had to swim across a freezing river at the end of a desperate day to get their food, (that is, after they lit the fire to cook it themselves). The main question is, what did they do to deserve it?
Oh don you champion. I know you want to come hiking with me. Hahaha. Poor Rowena has been dragged along on several of my hikes that turn into epics. Hahahaha. Also there is a much flatter route. But I chose to go the down, up down route as I LOVE the shoalhaven so darn much. One day, one day I’ll master the comfortable, lay around in hammock hike.
Kate I’m nsw to the south coast and so love your hikes of the area. So want to do them all. Do you know if any hiking groups in the area?? I’m so keen to explore but nervous going alone in a new area. I’ve hiking and multi day experience 🙏🙏
Thanks for watching. What a great area to live. So much at your doorstep. I follow Shoalhaven bush walking club on Facebook and they do some brilliant hikes. Looks like they do all skill level from kiama cliffs to off track exploring the budawangs. I’d absolutely touch base with them. So much knowledge in that group. I’d love to hike with them one day. Happy hiking. Hope you enjoy
Hey mate it’s called matador ridge near bungonia. The road can get a bit rutted and boggy. Approximately the start is here just keep going till there is a large turning circle and a log book. Be safe and enjoy. It’s a heart starting up and down Geoiwahans goo.gl/maps/1yVer1uW7qiEfLDL8
@@KateGrarock thanks for the intel mate. I did some research on it today. Did you take a map or use GPS. I believe there isn’t much line of sight up on the ridge. I intend on doing it solo in May. I wanted to go somewhere where I won’t run into anyone else for a couple of nights, this looks like it might fit the bill. I am enjoying your vids btw.
@@andrewbartlett269 hey yes that’s the place. I took gps and found a gpx online somewhere maybe Johnny boy (John evans). I also took a maps and compass and actually a back up gps. It’s pretty bloody complicated once you are up on the ridge. I thought it would just be follow spur to ridge and follow cliff line along. But there were multiple spurs ridges and gullies. You wouldn’t want to take the wrong one as they drop off to oblivion. Having the gps was very nice. And took the worry out of it. Hope you enjoy it’s a spectacular and rugged place.

Magnificent walk what scenery.
Pretty epic hey. I hope to get back out there really soon 😀

Thanks so much mate. Next up is carnarvon I think.
Hi Kate, loving the off track adventure 👍👍
Thanks so much mate. Such a great little part of Australia. Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures
Nice video, I think I was one of the hikers up there in 2018. We did the walk the other way round.
Great spot.
Oh so cool. Did you do it in 3 days? Was pretty challenging with the short winter days
@@KateGrarock Yes we did it in three days as well. We came out via washedaway creek.
So cool. Did you climb up that wineglass ridge will full packs? 😮
@@KateGrarock No just day packs, we stayed a little horse shoe.
oh good - i saw one group did with full packs - that would be epic

hahaha such a beautiful area. I was a little worried for a bit re the missing person but all turned out well thankfully. Happy hiking
Thanks Kate and friends, what a great hike! A well earned steak and sorry about the phone. Looking forward to more or your uploads.
Haha thanks was a delicious steak indeed. Next up I’m putting together a vid from my hike in Carnarvon gorge QLD. Then hopefully back into Morton soon

Good to be out n about again. Beware of any plague carriers from Victoria on your bush walks. 🤧
