A year ago you posted a video about game with counters in a cup- my 4 yr old LOVES THAT GAME! She asks to play it as a reward. We go till she gets 3 wrong or we fill a page of equations. She is funny, she thinks everyone will love that game as much as she does and asks if she can show it to other adults she knows and play it with them. Thank you for that game. Your videos are great.
Yes, nonsense words are a part of multisyllabic words! That's what I share with my fellow colleagues that don't see the value of working with them. I include nonsense words for students to decoded as part of our phonics lesson. It's also very telling for students that don't understand the phonics skill. I have great readers who struggle with nonsense words because they don't have a strong understanding of the phonics skill. IMSE also has great free blending boards. I use them a lot in my lessons. I've not had students encode nonsense words, so this will be a new activity. I might try that in our next set of lessons! Thanks again for a great video!
Totally support teaching decoding nonsense words because frankly i still have to look up some letter combinations to see if they are words ! How can you expect a lot of our students to know all words lol plus decoding the syllables too
Hi, thanks for all your informative videos! I am still a little confused. Do you point out that the word is nonsense? I don't want my kid to think these are actual words. Thanks.
