Sounds like a typical good sounding snare drum.
I’ve spent about three times what my wife paid for my kit at DCP. It’s all her fault
Just got mine from DCP a few weeks ago! It’s so stunning in person - a work of art. The craftsmanship is on point and I didn’t expect anything less coming from Tama. It sounds soooo good at a higher tuning. This snare does have a lot of ring so I ended up putting a very small Meinl Honey Gel on the batter head, it helped balance the overtones of that ring perfectly without completely muting it. It has such a great crack and sings so well, love it!!! If you’re eyeing this one, go for it before it’s gone!

Nice middle ground between a wood and brass sound. The higher tuning definitely sounded the best to my ears. Beautiful looking drum!
OK... I'm not typically a fan of brass hardware, but damn! This looks amazing with that wood tone. The satin finish with that blingy hardware just works. WOW!!!

Sometimes I wonder why I personally gravitate to all things Tama. Then, I hear and see another Tama. It is sonically and visually over the top. Absolutely the finest in the business.
It's been almost 50 years since I first discovered Tama in a magazine advertisement with Billy Cobham. I was amazed at how strong the hardware appeared and the boom stand with counter weight. It's just beautiful equipment, and still solid.

The Creed cut away makes me miss the Zildjian Z Customs. I like the drum in lower tuning. I bet this is because the two heads are closer in relation to each other verses when the top head was tighter, but betting is for fools. Steam bent/one ply/no glue/solid piece of wood/whatever you prefer to call them drums sound awesome. Get your hands on one one day. Might find yourself saving up for a future purchase. I'm also glad Shane tuned this during the video. Tuning is not as hard as one might make it to be. It takes practice, but what doesn't. The tighter the lug, the higher the pitch of the head. The pitch of the head goes down when you loosen the lugs. Stop whenever the drum sounds to your liking.
Beautiful drum! I like how Shane went back and forth with the tunings, made it for a more thorough comparison imo.

In every tuning range, snares on or off, it was the perfect sounding snare drum. Must admit, it is such a beautiful drum that part of me was listening with my eyes. For the limited production availability and high-end build quality I would have thought it would cost even more. Happy New Year DCP, you guys just get better each year.

Those wires are shorter and thinner/lighter. I've noticed if you can adjust them looser and get less rattle and more fatness

Lower and Medium tunings seem to suit this snare best. The high tuning seemed to dry it up a bit, and lose some of its charm

Hi everyone at DCP! By this point I'd assume everyone knows that Tama is releasing a bell brass snare in January and I'm guessing you guys are gonna have quite a few of them. It would be amazing if you could do a side by side of an original 80s one and the new one.

Sounds better tuned higher, IMO
I felt in the higher was choking out a bit, lost the beautiful overtones
I think you have the bottom head too tight. Try loosening that up and you’ll get a fatter sound, I would think-nice dry studio sound.
lol yeah you got it figured out dude, THEN it would sound ok. Loose bottom head = too fat, 80’s sounding lameness.
$4000 is certainly less than $15000!
I'm starting to suspect that this dude just knows how to tune drums the way i like to hear them. Put this same drum on another YT channel and I'll probably think it's boring/average.
For $1500 I was expecting something spectacular, but this is not the case
