    I was absolutely devastated when I saw you were on a Rocketeer book and then it was cancelled... Ugh. I'm so glad to see your work all over the place since then :)

    Your art is so good, and I love how just by looking at it you can grasp the mood of the scene/panel.

    Congrats on the Black and White Batman! That's awesome!
    And thanks for the insights and honesty. I love how you acknowledge how childish but persistent some of your traits are as I think we all suffer from that to varying degrees.
    Another great video - thank you for sharing it with us.

    Thank you for being so open and honest. As much as we love hearing about success stories, there is so much to learn about beginnings and "failures".

      @@ElsaCharretierChannel it must have been very disheartening to lose the two annuals as well. I think in that era you'd have been perfect for Babs. But it really feels like it wasn't meant to happen... But every action creates opportunity going forward

    I wonder how the faint guides are produced on that the page that Elsa inks. Is she pre-printing her pencils on that page? Or is she attaching a translucent Vellum sheet over her pencils? How is that pre-inked page created?

    • @ElsaCharretierChannel
      @ElsaCharretierChannel  3 роки тому +3

      I'm printing my pencils on my board, at very low opacity. I find that I draw faster digitally, so I've been doing it that way for years, but I've been trying to get back to penciling straight on my boards. It's...a process.

    just do work for you. put passion into it. you'll be happier at the end of the day. passion shows through even over bad technique or fundamentals....some work is great through passion alone.

    Mrs. Charretier, in your experience, would you say artists prefer to work with a detailed script or with more of an outline of the story?
    I'm asking this because I started writing comics and I'm looking for artists, but since I don't want to waste anyone's time I need to know what kind of approach is the most common when it comes to writing.

    • @ElsaCharretierChannel
      @ElsaCharretierChannel  3 роки тому +5

      That completely depends on the artist! You'll likely be collaborating with artists early in their career and in that case I'd suggest to go with a detailed script, simply because it's easier to handle a page that way. Once you've found your partner, have that conversation with them, though, see what they are more comfortable with. Good luck!

    So you cant count your pitch rejection as "failiure".

    I wouldn't call the examples you gave as failures, because none of them were your fault but the publishers. 🤷‍♂️
