Completely dumb fact about this level you may not have noticed: During the intermission screen of each level, you can see the Tower of Babel itself being built.
The fight against the cyberdemon takes place at the top of the tower Meaning that if you realistically could get over those walls on the map you would fall to your death
With a little bit of timing this could be the perfect song for the fight with the Cyberdemon in DOOM 2016. 0:00 You ride the circular elevator down after the previous arena. 0:07 The elevator doors open and you see what is obviously a boss fountain across this long hallway and you stare at it wondering what you would need all of this for. 0:23 You start walking down the hallway, collecting everything you're not already filled up on, having simply decided that whatever was coming, it would die like the rest. 0:55 You approach the door at the end and could only think of one word to describe it. Huge. Just like that broken stasis pod from earlier. 1:07 You reach for the release on the door as the music crescendos. 1:10 When you pull the lever the music stops. The door hisses as the pneumatic locks release steam. The devil himself has an icy cold deathgrip on your heart and a bowling ball just dropped into your stomach as you watch the door inch open. 1:14 Seems whatever was on the other side wasn't as patient as you. A claw as long as you are tall wedged itself between the doors and slammed them aside. You stare up at the hulking behemoth towering over you, half shadowed in darkness. An old quote from that comic you like so much comes to mind. "Cyberdemon? Big deal. He's slim pickin's." 1:22 You tried to say it but the words died in your throat when the colossus picks you up in a fist the size of a small car and throws you into the dark room it had come from. You skid along the ground, catching yourself on the balls of your feet. Finally detecting a human presence, the computers that ran the facility turned on the lights one by one, starting from the door and moving back to where you had stopped. 1:30 Now that the beast was fully in the light and you were some distance away you make out more than an angry silhouette. It was covered in armor that looked like it had been carved from stone, the pink-ish flesh showing from in between the plates. There was a strange device on the right side of it's chest that vaguely reminded you of Iron Man. Two massive horns sprouted out of it's head like branches on a giant oak. It took three steps toward you and the whole facility shook. 1:38 It let out a roar that would have surely deafened you, had you not been wearing your Praetor suit. 1:42 Finally you noticed it's left arm had been completely replaced with some sort of orange cannon. You only noticed this because it leveled it at you and the barrel started humming. 1:47 [Camera pulls out and the cutscene ends] 1:50 to 2:37 [Plays on loop during the first phase of the fight, stopping when you pull the Argent Accumulator out of it's chest but it no longer needs the accumulator to survive now that it can live off the natural Argent energy in Hell.] 2:37 Now you're stuck in Hell. Both literally and metaphorically. You used so much ammo to take the creature down and rip out it's life support, but it's seems to have only made it angrier. It lets out another roar and raises rock walls on either side of you. Well, it's not like you planned on running from this fight anyway. You meet it's angry snarl with a rueful grin. "You shoulda stayed down." 2:45 [The second phase of the fight.] 3:24 You had expended all of your ammo. There's no more fucking around now. It's time for The Gun. The Big Gun. The Big Fucking Gun 9000. You both stopped moving, brought your weapons to bare, and started charging to fire. 3:30 The creature slams to the ground in front of you. With a mighty yank, it's unbroken horn snaps off. 3:36 It opens it's maw to let out one final roar. 3:39 You take the opportunity to slam the horn through it's mouth, cleaving off the top half of it's head. 3:40 The filthy beast is no more. Righteousness, and superior firepower have triumphed. You turn towards the only way out and step through the portal.

To me, the Tower of Baybel was a pivotal moment in gaming history. The Cyberdemon set the standard for how any boss should be in video games. If you play that level today even, the atmosphere is still unmatched. Doom has and will forever be the most influential and best game ever made.

Hey Andrew, I have really enjoyed your work and look forward to the the entire soundtrack remade. It's rare that I can say a remix captures the essence of the original music. I can genuinely say that the music you have produced is more than just a remix, it's a reimagining of the original tracks with modern day instrumentation and technology. You've done an amazing job of re-energizing the original composition and I commend you for it. I know Bobby Prince would be proud. I had a question about the track, what language are the vocals and what are they reciting? Latin, perhaps? Thank you again for your work.

Oh wow, this one is very grandiose =o . It's interesting what you did with this track, the voice effect is a thing I envisioned would be very much suited to the "Getting too Tense" track originally. You also put in lots of distortions and other effects like bells I see which adds to the unholy atmosphere. Although you went for a very wide variety of music styles with this track, including that of the original, at the core of the music is still that amazing beat with pounding guitars - it's amazing how the original's relatively subdued melody with echoing accordion-like instruments comes to life with some beautiful hard guitar work. Almost like it was made for it. ElguitarTom also went for a strong guitar theme with this track to great effect, although his version focuses more on the metal side than the spooky effects. A very nice cover, great job as always! :D
+Andrew Hulshult Thanks! I really love video game music, and the Doom 1 and 2 soundtracks have always been quite special to me, so you can imagine how happy I am with all these remakes people are making xD . I'd ask how you manage to consistently be this awesome Andrew, but I'm pretty sure I already know the answer is "A shit-ton of hard work and dedication" - both of which I've been thoroughly appreciating ever since I discovered your work through the original IDKFA release last year.
Hah, sounds about right. Having listened to it a few times, I think the only change I would even think about making to this particular cover is having the vocals from the first section return in the last section to kinda bring the track full circle; it's almost a shame they only appear at the start because they add so much to the atmosphere. Still an absolutely stellar cover as it is, though.
+Zaranell TB Then again, now that I think about it, you probably intended for this song to play well when looped during Doom gameplay, so it actually makes sense that it's only in the intro.
