Bucktail Fishing - Review Of The Trokar Big Nasty Bucktail

- Here's my first full day field test of late season jigging with the Trokar bucktail. Although we didn't hook any flounder, a species typically associated with this sort of fishing...we caught A TON of fish. My initial impression of this 3/4 oz jig was a good one. For one ounce size and bigger you may have more competitive offerings out there. I wish they made this jig in a half or 1/4 oz size. Then you would have an absolute winner.

Final thought. I wish these were made in a 1/2 oz variety. 3/4 oz is very close to one ounce and in the one ounce category hook choices are very well flushed out. However, at $3 a pop they get the thumbs up.
Have you used the weighted ewg hooks they make? They are loved by West Coast calico bass fishermen.
An easy lure to make.

I really like them. Held up very well fishing Montauk in October. Used 1-2 ounce versions tipped with chartreuse 4” gulp grubs. Out fished the guys using diamond jigs in the surf
Good vid.... trokar buck tails are good, once the hair falls off, I still use with gulp AND berkley minnows. The bigger fluke attack that..... not as many hits as the gulp though.

I was taking a bucktail tipped with an angle cut herring tail, caught six flathead catfish in one session. Didn't expect any.

Those jigs are amazing! I used them for flounder and did very well. Cheaper then spro too.
